What: Basketball IPC

When: 19 July 2015

Where: Sports Hub

Participants: Bi Hui, Melissa, Vanessa, Yanjun, Yanping, Yvonne, Zhiqing

Yvonne, Organiser:

It was my first time organising an IPC and also the first successful Basketball IPC. I have always thought that renting a basketball court would be easy but I was wrong. The timing was either limited or place is too ulu. Luckily with the help of fellow member, Yanjun, we managed to book the court at the sports hub and it’s free of charge.

I was initially worried that the IPC would not be successful as the sky turned cloudy in the afternoon. Thankfully the sky cleared up by 3pm, but the scorching hot sun came out as a package too. With a group of 7 participants, we utilised only half the basketball court but we could hardly survive 2 games of it. After all we are not professional basketball players.

Despite the hot weather and my “need to brush up” basketball skills, I enjoyed the game with fellow members. I think we should organise more sports related activities to keep ourselves fit and healthy.

What: Sunset Walk @ Southern Ridges

When: 27 June 2015

Where: Southern Ridges

Participants: Allan, Bi Hui, Candice, Melissa, Peijun, Shu Pei, Vanessa, Xinyi, Yanjun, Yanling, Yanping, Yeeling, Yvonne

Allan, Organiser:

This is my first time organising an event for the FC. I have gained quite a lot of experience through this event. At first I was worried that the route I planned was too far. Moreover, that day’s weather was not helping us.

While planning, I estimated that we will take 2-3 hours, however everyone completed the walk within 1 hour. Next time we should take a longer route!

I hope that I will still have the chance to organise such events again. Really appreciate everyone’s time and effort for coming down!

Yanjun, Participant:

Not my typical Saturday evening but it feels good to be immersed in the beauty of nature after a week of work. The Southern Ridges – I’ve been there a few times but never in the evening nor in such a big group. It was a completely different experience with the beautiful sunset, the evening “breeze”, the companionship and the chance to have a hilltop view of snippets of the aircrafts segment of the NDP rehearsal.

I believe this calorie-burning walk has helped to cut off a small amount of guilt from the amount of food we have eaten during the buffet after Orientation, the week before

What: The Dream Makers 2 Filming

When: 23 June 2015

Participants: Allan, Bi Hui, Candice, Edith, Jaslin, Jewel, Jiamin, Jonah, Lydia, Yeeling, Yingmei, Zhiqing

Candice, Priority Member:

It was the first time as a FC that we got to film with Rui En. We met each other and went to the location to wait for the green light to go up. While we were sitting along the lobby waiting, Rui En came and saw us so she walked toward us to say hi and said thanks for coming! We went up after getting the green light, and changed into the shirts provided. Then the director explained to us what the scene is about and started arranging us where we were supposed to be and what we were supposed to do. There were some funny moments. At some points in time, Rui En guided some of us what we were supposed to do.

It was probably a 5-6 hours shoot. At the end of it, we took a group photo. She was being concerned and asked us how was it and kept thanking us. Eventually we took solo photos after she said okay to our request.

It was a nice experience to be able to film with her together with the FC. It might appear on TV for a short while yet it took hours to do it. I think at the end of it, we all learnt something. It was nice of Rui En to guide us and take care of us. Even her on screen older brother came to talk to us. When we were leaving the place, she bade goodbye and kept saying thanks for coming and thanks for helping. Overall, I feel that it’s 大开眼界 to all of us.

Yingmei, Priority Member:

It was a really cool experience to be able to take part in ZZSF2’s filming through RBKD as Tonglin’s fans!! We made our way down to the filming place and there were all the other actors (and part timers) already. It was a great eye opener to experience first hand, how a scene lasting perhaps 5-10 minutes on screen, could take up a whole afternoon of filming.

I think no spoilers are allowed, but it’s pretty cool that we could know beforehand what was gonna be broadcasted haha. And some of our members will have appearances on tv (if it wasn’t cut out??)! Although we spent the whole afternoon just chilling, it had been super fun and there were loads of yummy food given the occasion

Towards the end we took a group photo with Rui En and even had the chance for individual pictures. Thanks for the concern too, Rui En.

What: Singapore Fashion Week 2015

When: 16 May 2015

Where: Orchard

Phyllis, Treasurer:

“We have less an hour till the start of the event and we have no bouquet. How ah?”

“Let’s make it ourselves!”

Yes, that’s exactly the conversation that we had 1 hour before the start of SGFW.

Armed with no relevant tools or equipment we had to walk the entire Ngee Ann City in search flowers, ribbons, cotton wool, scissors and tape for making a bouquet. Not only that, the only “available and appropriate” space to DIY a bouquet was right outside the shopping mall, with everyone walking past us and looking on with stares. Sounds like an impossible task eh?

Time was ticking by and it only got more challenging when we realised that we had a few minutes left and we had yet to tie the entire bouquet together! With all the odds stacked against our favour, I am amazed that we managed to put together a bouquet in the end. It might not be the fanciest bouquet we have ever given to Rui En but I still think it is one of the most meaningful ones.

What: The “Don’t Need for Reason” Korean BBQ Dinner Together

When: 9 May 2015

Where: Ssikkek @ United Square

Participants: Allan, Bi Hui, Candice, Daphne, Edith, Huiyi, Jiamin, Peijun, Phyllis, Rebecca, Shu Pei, Suwei, Xinyi, Yanjun, Yanling, Yanping, Yeeling, Yvonne, Xinyi

Edith, Ordinary Member:

Although it wasn’t my first time having dinner with RBKD, I was very excited for this dinner because it’s my favourite Korean BBQ!

Upon reaching the location I was kind of excited and found it rather cool to know that we actually have a private room for ourselves and of course we started cooking the food and eat and eat and eat!!

Apart from the good food, it was the company that made me really happy that day. Hope to have more of #noneedforreason #rbkddinnertogether soon!!!

Daphne, Ordinary Member:

It has been a long time since we had a dinner together. Also, it was a wonderful idea to go to Korean BBQ to catch up and fill our tummies. Because we have to wait for the meat to cook so during this time, we talked about what we had been doing and how our lives were going. I always have a great time catching up with them and would look forward to the next time we meet again!

What: Star Awards 2015 Show 2

When: 26 April 2015

Where: Mediacorp TV Theatre

Xinyi, Club President:

MediaCorp’s biggest TV show returned to Caldecott for the final time and the TV station was “transformed” for the occasion.

A chaotic and unpleasant queuing experience was followed by a drizzling wait at the red carpet. However, when our Queen arrived, RBKD roared and it was like our sunshine has finally arrived.

It was unforgettable seeing our Queen with our special bouquet; they were a perfect match.

To be honest, I can’t recall what happened during the show, on-air, now that I’m writing this five months later.

But we had fun, cheering for Rui En, communicating with her through cheers and hand gestures.

Am certain everyone appreciated the connection.

After a dreadful week, being able to be there for her was the best thing that could possibly happen to a RBKD member. You know what I mean, I shan’t elaborate.

Till next year, and more. With much love.

What: Star Awards 2015 Show 1

When: 19 April 2015

Where: Mediacorp TV Theatre

Ernie, Ordinary Member:

It is my first time watching Show 1 live. As this is with the fanclub, I came in prepared! I went there with a box of mints! Not any kind of mints, but the powerful soothing kind from China!

Since we are live on studio, I had to be wary of where the camera is pointing, where does our idol sit and watch the side screen so that we know when we need to scream. Basically, one has to be attentive and be wary of what’s going on in the studio.

When it comes to cheering, I am always torn between teenager shrieky scream and the parade commander shout. Tried parade commander shout but it sounded a little like boo, so I went for the teenager shrieky scream instead. (Note: For any event with Rui En, hydrate yourself well, bring lots of mints and bottled water)

The experience at Show 1 is amazing. I get to see Rui En’s immediate response to our cheers such as the FLYING KISSES and her waves to acknowledge us. Awwww… Totally made me forget about the pain in my throat from the excessive screaming.

Throughout the show, Rui En was clearly enjoying herself. She was waving her hands in the air during the “Big Bank” skit. Apart from doing a fist pump for Loh Woon Woon when the director received the prize on the stage, she walked over to her during commercial break to give her a congratulatory hug (lucky lucky you Ms Loh!). This is something one doesn’t get to see on TV/Toggle and can only be experienced when you are a live studio audience.

Zhiqing, Priority Member:

It was my third time attending the Star Awards Show 1. Despite it being my third, I was rather excited about it. Excited about what Rui En is going to wear for the award ceremony, and at the thought of being able to scream to my heart’s content (yes, I actually do enjoy screaming with RBKD). Upon arriving at the studio, we settled down quickly and soon after, the award ceremony started.

Due to the fact that we weren’t exactly near to the stage, I had difficulty seeing what was ongoing on the stage. Thankfully, there were two huge screens located at both sides of the studio for clearer viewing. We then started screaming the moment Rui En’s name was mentioned and when the dramas that Rui En acted in were shown on the screen. Initially, we couldn’t scream in sync as some of us were faster than the others. However, after a couple of tries, we managed to scream at the exact same timing. I definitely did enjoy seeing how everyone tried to be on par with one another and trying our best to reduce human reaction time.
Overall, it was yet another memorable experience for me.

What: Airport Send-off to Penang

When: 10 March 2015

Where: Changi Airport

Joan Chen, Priority Member:

After 3 wrong exits, a journey that should have just taken half an hour, took me close to an hour to arrive at the Changi Airport. Even though it’s a weekday, some members took time off from work and school to send Rui En off.

Clad in long sleeve t-shirt, short and slippers, and a pair of sunglasses, she looked fashionably chic. We were grateful that she went to the airport earlier to meet with us. During the course of our conversations, she assured us that she has found herself a personal assistant in Penang, would take good care of herself, and discouraged us from visiting her in Penang! She is always has the best interests for her members.

Before long, it was time for her to check in. We took a wefie and wished her well.

What: Life is Beautiful Roadshow

When: 28 February 2015

Where: Junction 10

Rebecca, Ordinary Member:

The most memorable part of this roadshow is when all of us dressed in red tees instead of the club tee to have the “CNY” mood. Also, we went up the stage in 2 rows to take photos with the cast and we turned around and said “Rui En, Happy new year!!!!!~ *cheers*” That’s when she got the loudest new year greeting

What: Life is Beautiful Debut Premiere

When: 13 February 2015

Where: NKF Auditorium

Rebecca, Ordinary Member:

It was my first time attending a show preview so I was really excited to watch the first episode of Life Is Beautiful as I am keen to know more about NKF. Also, I got to know more about kidney failure and how dialysis works after all the cast explained in detail about how a person with high blood pressure and high cholesterol can get kidney failure with what they consume daily as I didn’t know how one can be diagnosed with it.

It was really an eye-opener for me that day as I got to know how diet can change somebody else’s life forever. This show is more than a drama as it teaches everyone the right way to stay healthy by eating right! I am really glad I got the opportunity to learn something that night with RBKD

Melissa, Priority Member:

When I arrived at the NKF Auditorium earlier that day, I got worried after seeing that it was so small. Turns out we got pretty good seats and the small area meant everything felt more intimate!

I sat kind of directly behind our FC photographer and naturally throughout the event she looked in my (photographer’s actually but I will say my ) direction a lot. I saw all her poses and glares/stares/smizes full on and had to mentally tell myself do.not.squeal.aloud. I lost count of how many times my heart melted~ I think our photographer is awesome for being able to remain so calm and take so many good pictures (Y)

Afterwards a few of us went for dinner at a nearby hawker centre. We watched TV together and had dinner together. It felt like a family outing. It always feels that way when RBKD get together.
