What: Distribution of handmade Red Ribbons
When: 22 November 2008
Where: Bookfest@Singapore 2009, Suntec Convention Halls

Inspired by the AIDS awareness drama series – “By My Side†(Starring Rui En), RBKD decided that the event was timely to help generate AIDS awareness.
On our own accord, RBKD members began cutting, twisting the ribbons and safety pins to create 200 Red Ribbons symbolising AIDS awareness. We then went down the queue distributing these red ribbons and encouraging the recipients to wear them on the spot.
This project ended with Rui En sharing her thoughts on AIDS awareness while accepting an interview on stage.

What: Visit to the Patient Care Centre for HIV/AIDS patients
When: 19 March 2009
Where: Patient Care Centre, Communicable Disease Centre, Moulmein Road

Following the airing of AIDS awareness drama series – “By My Side†(Starring Rui En), RBKD realised that AIDS awareness in the community remains relatively low.
So in January 2009, RBKD managed to contact the Youth Community Outreach Department of HPB (Health Promotion Board), who offered to help us coordinate a site visit to PCC (Patient Care Centre).
At the PCC, not only were we briefed about their operations and objectives, we also had the chance to better understand their facilities.
But the most rewarding part of our visit was the sharing session we had with the two Medical Social Workers who work closely with the AIDS patients themselves. They shared with us real-life stories and experiences that we never would have thought would happen in real life.
After the 2 hours visit, we walked out of the centre being more aware, and feeling more confident in being little ambassadors for AIDS awareness ourselves.

Birthday gatherings are norms for many FCs, but for RBKD and most of us, that was our first.
Much as we preferred a private gathering, we had no complaints if Hype’s the one in-charge of all the organising and of course, footing of the bill. Thanks Hype!

Guess what this is? 4 self-compiled travel guides to the best Beaches in the world! And we wonder if they ever came in handy =/
Overall, it was a heartwarming session. These videos should do a better job than words could in describing the fabulous day spent. So click for YES933 瑞æ©ã€Šå…±å’Œåœ‹ã€‹åº†ç”Ÿä¼š 2009.

There was a tinge of sadness when Rui En sang ç©¿å on stage. But all we could do was to sing along with her, even if it’s off-the-key and off-the-tune.
We didn’t like the stage set up at all, too near to the escalator at the back, we never had to be that worried for her fans’ safety.
What went on during the autograph session was just like any other, except for a little misunderstanding towards the end.
We had wanted to wait for the crowd to go on first before we proceed to queue. The rationale of this was simple, we hope other fans could go on stage first and not the FC which always enjoy the priority. We don’t mind being the last but, don’t close the gates on us………
At the end of the day, each of us walked off the stage with an autographed album, a photo and also a big question mark hovering above our head – “When would her third album be released?”
Would it be another 6 years’ wait? I don’t dare to think. What’s your take?

What: Punggol Countdown 2009
When: 31 December 2008/1 January 2009
Where: Punggol

Bee, Exco:
Although there were only 4 attendees for this countdown event at Punggol (as most of our members were at the bigger scale event at Vivo), we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with Rui En singing 《é’蛙》, 《游记》 and 《慢舞》, as well as screaming our lungs out as if there were 40 fans.
The time spent there was rather short as Rui En had to rush off for the countdown event at Vivo.

Xianli, Member:
It was my very first time meeting up with RBKD people and doing “star chasing” activities. As well as seeing Rui En in person.
Although i could only stand in a distance watching Rui En performing, but i still enjoy it very much. Cheering and screaming for her with a group of people who share the same idol as you is definitely better than those who doesn’t.
Each time after seeing Rui En in person, i would like to support her even more. Somehow I enjoy the part where we were “battling” with her nanny/manager. The crew were all “protecting” her, while we squeezed to try to talk to her or pass her things. It really make the term “star chasing” – star chasing. I used to thought that it was dumb to do so, but now, i don’t know why i enjoy it. haha!

Most of our members, including myself, were newbies to the FC scene. The Vivo Countdown party was the first MCS program we attended, so we were totally clueless how things were going to be like.
We arrived slightly after twelve noon and subsequently, Naturally Nat, Felicity and Jeanius came too. Fast forward to 10pm, we were finally allowed into the mosh pit. Definitely worth the 10hours’ wait as we were right smack in front of the stage. Perfect view.
The program started at around 10.30pm but we were informed that Rui En would only be performing her piece after midnight. Well, why waste the last hour of our year 2008 right? So we sang to the music, cheered and clapped for everyone as though they were our idols too. It’s all about having fun isn’t it?
Talking about “stretching one’s limit beyond imagination”, goodness when Rui En was on stage, each of us screamed like Maria Sharapova in her tennis games, deafening. I honestly had the temptation to stuff tissue paper into my ears. And luckily for our throats, we bought lozenges for everyone.
Dead beat at the end of the day but what better way to start 2009 with screams, cheers and Rui En? Uh-oh, and a sore throat too ;)

It was a last minute decision for myself to head down to Suntec 2 days before my exams. But for many others, they had been anticipating this since 6 years back.
The most memorable part of this autograph session had to be our decision to ç©¿å our shirt, that is to wear it inside out. “You must be mad!” Yes I think we are mad.
It was definitely awkward initially, kind souls politely informed us that we were wearing our shirts inside out. So imagine the look on their faces when we replied, “Yep, we did it deliberately because Rui En has this song titled – ç©¿å”. Were we amused? Maybe.
And did I mention how we went round distributing red ribbons for AIDS awareness, made on our own accord? (Details).
The day ended with a frantic chase to the backstage and of course, a hurried group photo as always :)

Arguably the most important event for RBKD to date; it was the day RBKD was officially launched.
But perhaps to most of us, that was the day we first met fellow strangers who would move on to become our best friends and co-workers in life.
Due to work commitments, Rui En was regrettably absent from the launch. Yet tens of members came together and witnessed the birth of a club we now see as our family outside of home.

The first highlight of the night was a specially collated video of various exclusive Rui En related clips that many members have never watched before.
Thereafter, the official website and forum of RBKD was launched.

The day wrapped up with the first ever club photo and I shall end this post with the welcome message from Rui En herself.
Remember this date – 15 November 2008, that’s the day RBKD was born. Traversing The Road Less Traveled, Lux Veritas.

Launching this RBKD’s blog ONE day before our club’s first birthday (15th November 2009) serves to highlight the 2 ONEs.
1. weareone: RBKD is ONE year old.
2. weareone: RBKD is ONE big family.
Taking the 2 ONEs into consideration, this blog is now launched with the unique “ONE RBKD” banner – a collage of RBKD members’ photos when they were ONE year old.
And what have we/you got to say about this blog, especially the banner? Did I hear someone singing “can’t take my eyes off you”?

This must be the most overused title in the blogosphere but what better title than this? Hello World! This is RBKD!
For the members, I hope this is a place you feel belonged and a place that reminds you of all the fun and laughter you had with us.
For the members-to-be, I hope this is the bridge to motivate you to step forth and join our family.
For the assorted passersby, may you have a better understanding of RBKD henceforth.
This blog is by us, for everyone, for RBKD; because we traverse the road less traveled, together.
