Can you spot young Rui En in our midst?

Weijen is a Malaysian Member, residing in Penang.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to be able to make it for this trip, having to face flight changes that almost cut short my trip by one day, I would not have been able to enjoy this wonderful trip if not for my travel partner, Sherwin to agree to extend one more day in the first place.

Next, thank you Joanne for being such a fantastic tour guide throughout our trip. It is a joy to spend time with you, and I am so touched and guilty that you took 5days’ leave just to show us around, and how many welcome breakfast/lunch/dinner you have treated us to?? Sherwin说,Joanne就是我们的保姆哈哈哈。XD

Finally, thank you President Xinyi, for settling our accommodation and everything. Haha everything about RBKD & Rangels, just 离不开你。=)

Day 1: Changi Airport

Touched down at 1pm. The moment when I was done with my immigration procedures, 有一股不知如何形容的感觉和兴奋。陌生又带点熟悉的亲切感,好高兴即将在自己瑞不可当的经历中,增添这一篇全新的一页。

I had told Joanne that I wanted to experience the public transport as much as possible. This is because in Penang, we do not have MRT. We get around by mostly by personal transport. So although this is not my first time in Singapore, this is my first time taking MRT!

Day 2: Star Awards 2012

Woke up at 650am to shower and put on my RBKD official tee to gear up for the annual battle at the most important event of the year!

I didn’t have the appetite to eat throughout the day I don’t know why, McD lunch/dinner/supper was my second meal of the day after the breakfast at Burger King.

I noticed that outside of normal business hours, the food options in Singapore are really limited. In Penang, 24/7 we have food everywhere. Be it fast food chains or roadside stalls, food stalls are in abundance.

Day 3: Bugis Junction & Bugis Village, Newton

Went for a full day sightseeing after starting the day with breakfast at the hawker centre at Chinatown. 猪肠粉 & 炒萝卜糕 (This is nice! I don’t think I see this in Penang) for breakfast. After that we went to Merlion and Esplanade the art center 榴莲壳。 Well travelling is all about walking though, we chatted along the way, I enjoyed that seriously =)

Headed to Bugis after that and haha we had some fun recalling the filming scenes we have seen on tv! Especially Bugis Junction which Rui En filmed the clown story from Unriddle 1!

Day 4: IPC @ Istana & Japanese cuisine buffet

Hopped onto my first bus trip in Singapore to Istana. Luxuriant Istana, a perfect place for jogging I thought haha! Honestly I felt like climbing up the tree, but I didn’t in the end because I thought the branch could snap if I were to climb it la haha!

The highlight of the trip is the dinner. We had been laughing throughout the dinner, literally from the start till the end!! When Jean and Sherwin are together, you just can’t stop laughing. No offence but they are humorous people that just light up the atmosphere so easily. Who else but Sherwin can mistake the gents for the ladies? Being with friends, the happiest thing is to laugh, eat and chat. 因为这得来不易的缘分,所以格外珍惜。=)

Such a memorable trip that Rangels have given me.
当我准备登机时,心情真的是万分不舍。

There are still some places that I have not been to, so it is unfinished business. There will still be next time, I believe, so see you guys soon!

What: Making of the Unriddle Boards

When: 22nd & 23rd April 2011

Participants: Jean, Jiamin, Phyllis, Shirley, Xinyi and Yanling

Xinyi, President:

Somehow, Star Awards just don’t seem complete if we don’t make some last minute boards. This time round, it is to show our support for Unriddle and also to let everyone know that Unriddle 2 is coming to us in 2012.

Last minute and a lack of budget, that’s the worst thing to happen.

I admit we were a little defiant, Unriddle was snubbed in Star Awards Night One, we wanted everyone to know that no matter what the results were, Unriddle still has us. So we decided we should make these boards.

When we were mounting the boards, we were a little amazed how experienced some of us have become. The result of some very rigorous board making training in RBKD.

These boards are special, supposed to be disposable but how can we ever bear to?

Unriddle 2, coming 6 March 2012.

What: Making of Green Blue Boards

When: Pre-Star Awards

Participants: Jean, Shirley and Xinyi

Try drawing this with nothing more than just the paper, pencil, ruler and compass; no reference, no template, that’s the way it was done. I firmly believe that hand made boards doesn’t justify a sloppy work, so this complicated mathematical art has become RBKD’s unique way of boards making. But as if this wasn’t challenging enough, see what happened that day and the other that day. Can’t believe we were so lucky.

They call this downpour.

Keeping our boards safe from the rain.

Rain or shine, undeterred.

Absolutely focused.

No room for error.

End result? The new Green Blue Boards. Colors in RBKD =)

Signing off,
Xinyi

These trophies, all too familiar to us, yet all too distant at the same time. How many can claim that you have touched the trophies, much less “own” it?

We were the most contented when Rui En dedicated her awards to RBKD, little did we know that it was for real.

We were most shocked when Rui En presented these trophies to RBKD at the mini gathering (the OMY Singapore Entertainment Awards 2011 – Most Popular Local TV Actor 2011 & Star Awards 2011 – Most Favourite Female Character). It was unimaginable.

To Rui En, the rationale was simple enough. These awards are a result of the efforts of fans who voted for her whole-heartedly in the two popularity awards, it is hers as much as it is her fans’.

These trophies are ours, and by “ours” I meant, RBKD & Rui En’s.

It is this bond we share that defines us.

Those untouchable trophies, now belonging to us.

That day, when I brought them home, for fear of dropping them, I hugged the bags containing the trophies, as tightly as I could. It was really heavy, but it was a heavy “burden” I and everyone in RBKD, would hold dear to our hearts.

Ours. Truly ours. But we won’t keep it for forever. The next time we see her, it would be our time to present them back to her. Because it’s ours, her included :)

Signing off,
Xinyi
Club President.

What: Collection of lozenges and yan yan

When: 14th May 2011

Where: Empty space outside Esplanade

Participant(s): Alberton, Berlin, Candice, Celest, Elaine, Eunice Ng, Joanne, Junqi, Li Jia, Lionel, Lydia, Mandy, Michelle, Ming, Peifang, Yamie, Yunxian and Zi Lei

Elaine & Zi Lei, Priority Member:

We collected our yanyan and picked the lozenges from a bag of them. We grabbed the trophies tightly after it was carefully handed to us, and we took pictures with Rui En’s trophies! They were unexpectedly heavier than we thought and so we were a little shocked. It felt a little weird to have our hands on the trophies.

Berlin, Priority Member:

Was glad and happy that RE bought lozenges and yanyan for us as she knew that we will most properly lose our voice after star awards 1 & 2. How sweet of her :> it’s very special! I didn’t eat the lozenges yet! It’s still on my table ‘rotting’ hahaha. Whenever I sees it, it reminds me of RE!! really hope that she’s coping well at KL now! God bless!

Dear Fans of Rui En

RBKD’s undergoing membership renewal this month and we sincerely invite you to join our big family.

Why am I here? Why am I in RBKD? How did I even know other fans? Because of Rui En, the very same reason why you are reading this.

Unless you take the first step forward and join RBKD as a member, if not you will never understand how it feels to be part of this family. This family of mine walks the same path together with Rui En, and we hold the same belief, “Traversing The Road Less Traveled, Lux Veritas”. What about you?

Strange as it might sound, there is actually a difference between being just another supporter and being an official member of RBKD, the difference lies in passion.

If you are shy and reserved, perhaps you could first join us as an Ordinary Member before moving on as a Priority Member in future.

For more information, check out: http://RBKD-online.com/join/

Hope to see you as a member soon :)

Regards
Xinyi
Club President
RBKD.

PS: Check out the IPC activities fellow fans are organising this June!

What: You Are The Reason For These Fond Memories

What What: RBKD’s Birthday Gift for Rui En (Year 2010)

What What What: A Scrapbook Collection of Everyone’s Fond Memories Made Possible Because of Rui En.

Collated By: Grace

Xinyi, Club President:

“Don’t waste your money buying gifts for me.” Sometimes we wonder if Rui En will ever stop saying that. But then again, she wouldn’t be Rui En if she don’t say this anymore.

Same goes for us, it wouldn’t be us if we were to be so obedient when it comes to her birthday gifts.

But if buying her gifts makes her uncomfortable and us uncomfy if we don’t get her any, the best way out is really, to make her one.

And so the rationale of this gift is simple as its name, to share with her all these fond memories, from great friendship to great fun, made possible because of her. You are the reason for these fond memories.

What: The Black REnaissance

When: 15 November 2009

Where: HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok Club House

Organiser(s): Xaby, Joceline & Zhengfang

Advisor(s): RBKD

Arguably the most important event for RBKD to date; it was the day RBKD was officially launched.

But perhaps to most of us, that was the day we first met fellow strangers who would move on to become our best friends and co-workers in life.

Due to work commitments, Rui En was regrettably absent from the launch. Yet tens of members came together and witnessed the birth of a club we now see as our family outside of home.

The first highlight of the night was a specially collated video of various exclusive Rui En related clips that many members have never watched before.

Thereafter, the official website and forum of RBKD was launched.

The day wrapped up with the first ever club photo and I shall end this post with the welcome message from Rui En herself.

Remember this date – 15 November 2008, that’s the day RBKD was born. Traversing The Road Less Traveled, Lux Veritas.
