Yes, like last year, it rained.
Thank goodness, it stopped.
Probably they knew it’s RBKD Orientation 2012!
Ice Breakers
Ethan Chua, Team Dedicated, Participant:
I’m so glad that I attended Orientation this year :)
Although it was my 2nd time participating in RBKD’s Orientation, there were still many people whom I did not know. Things became better after a series of ice-breakers. We started off with RBKD Bonding where we had to form a group of 4 whereby all of us must be from the same team. And I’m proud to say that our team came in first for that :D
Team D FTW!!!!!
Then we played ‘Double Whacko’ whereby we had to remember many names and to protect the one in-front of us from getting whack. Both the ice-breakers were definitely a test to my memory skills!
RBKD Bonding! All ready to get started!!
Now let’s Whack!
Lastly, River-Crossing was best of it all! This game really focused on teamwork and every team had to reach the finishing line with the limited number of planks we had. Some of us either blindfolded or ‘crippled’ and this was an obstacle the team had to overcome. Although we were perspiring and had sweaty palms, we still held on to one another and managed to complete the game and came in first!
Ready..
Get set…
Go!!!
All in all, I really enjoyed myself during Orientation:)
I want to thank those who make this Orientation a successful one :D

Frankly speaking, I was quite afraid that this IPC would not be a success as it was my first time organising an IPC. I was quite afraid that the atmosphere would be kind of -cold-. But as I reached the location, I realised that it was not what I had expected it to be. Instead, the atmosphere was very lively.
As usual, we warmed ourselves up with the traditional 3+1 introduction. We then continued on our main purpose! The board games! We had so much fun playing different types of games and we were shouting while playing because we were all so excited. The new members who went participated actively too! It was such a fun day and I didn’t know that playing board games for 3 hours could be so tiring.. Great experience for me!

Yanping, Participant:
It was my first time joining a pre-orientation IPC. Totally don’t know what to expect from the IPC. Headed straight to the Café and was in a loss as I did not know anyone at all. Fortunately the café was not big and with such a big group of people, it’s not hard to spot the group at all.
After ice-breaker, we started on the board games. We played games like “UNO Stacko” whereby we got super high as the bricks went higher. We also played interactive games such as “the bomb” whereby each member was required to do a funny action before the bomb got “explodedâ€. Surely we had a lot of laughter and joy.
The game with the deepest impression was “Ugly Doll†where players need to grab 3 identical cards that were opened during each turn and shout, “UGLY! UGLY! UGLY!â€. Our actions really turn a little violent and lots of screaming. Cards were partial destroyed through all the snatching and all. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed the game. Other games were also played during the session. After a few hours, we were all exhausted (from the laughter, actions and screams).
Despite everyone coming from different age, occupation and interest. We came together as one for the passion shared for a common person. We bonded well as a group especially for some of us who were so new to the club. I am so looking forward for the next bonding session during the RBKD orientation that is going to be held in Sentosa on 9th June 2012.

It was the second pre-orientation IPC I have attended, however it was the first time going to minds café with so many people (Rangels). We started the IPC with 3+1 introduction then proceeded to the games. During the introduction, some of us were quite soft but when we started playing games, it seems like everyone went crazy.
The cafe was not very big, with all our laughter and shouting during the games, I think we have become the centre of attraction in the café. I thought that was not a bad thing, it shows that we do really enjoyed ourselves, or at least I did : )
Some of us had dinner at Pastamania, it was another great experience having dinner together with the Rangels. I was laughing so hard that almost had a stomach cramp. It was fun seeing Rangels teasing each other. I think that Rangels are very friendly and approachable. Looking forward to the orientation and meeting more Rangels. I would like to thanks the organizer, Yanling and Yue Chang, for making the IPC a success.

What: Bowling
When: 2 June 2012
Where: Marina Square
Participant(s):Â Ella, Jewel, Jiayi, Madeline, Pei Qi, Shirley, Shu Wen, Yanjun, Yan Ling and Zhiqing.

Zhi Qing, Organizer:
We had quite a few ideas initially but had chosen bowling as it is cheaper and less ulu compared to the one that we’ve planned earlier on (ice skating). It was quite a last minute one and I was really really glad to see quite a handful there despite that.
We had lunch together and during our lunch, we did a bit of self-introduction to get ourselves familiarise with one another. After our lunch, we headed off to the bowling place. :) We also got chattier and noisier while walking towards the bowling place and even helped each other out to find the pair of bowling shoes that suit us.
At first, many of us do not really know how to bowl in the correct manner. The better ones then went forward to help the weaker ones and we gradually improved from gutter to strike. We also encouraged and gave one another a pat once any one of us has reached our turn to bowl. :) Whenever any one of us has played well, we cheered for that person!
After approx 3 rounds, we went to the arcade nearby and everyone gathered around as we watch Shirley catch her mini soft toys and we really had a great time laughing away. After all the fun, we went to get ourselves some food and drinks at MacDonalds’ before heading home together! We had a really fun-filling saturday afternoon spent together! :D

Being my first IPC that I attended, I naturally felt excited. Firstly I did not know anyone and I felt it would be a good chance to meet the Rangels and my group mates. After meeting everybody at the mrt station we proceeded to lunch at the food court in marina square. It was a bit awkward at first as everybody still did not know each other. After a round of introduction and chatting over lunch, we felt more and more comfortable.
Then we proceeded to bowl. We had loads of fun over bowling. Cheering each other on, clapping when there was a spare or strike and even poke fun at those whose ball went to the gutter! The highest scorer Shu Wen even went on to coach us on how to bowl better…aww so sweet =)
I am very glad that I took the time to go for IPC and got to know so many new friends! Hopefully Iwill still be able to join more IPCs in the future although I am not yet a member!!

Meeting new people has always been out of my comfort zone but I’m glad I took the step forward and joined the bowling pre-orientation IPC. Awkwardness is inevitable when strangers meet but it was all gone when we were at the bowling alley. We randomly split into two groups and coincidentally, the good ones were all at one alley and the other group of us (Clean drain group. :P) were at the other alley. Realizing that, we mixed around, exchanged pointers and encouraged each other when we keep cleaning the drain. It was a fun experience mixing and playing around and not to forget some epic moments while playing around. After three games, we went to Macdonalds to chat and slack before we all parted for our own activities.
This IPC experience made me look forward to RBKD orientation even more. Anyway, I would like to thank the organizers for organizing this IPC and it was a pleasure to meet the Rangels. :)

What: Pre-O Trial Orientation for TLs
When: 12 May 2012
Where: Bishan Park and Void Deck
Participant(s): Jiamin, Jun Qi, Kah Yin, Madeline, Phyllis, Sandra, Ser Chee, Xinyi, Yan Ling, Ying Mei, Yue Chang, Zhi Qing
—
Ying Mei, Organizer:
Pre-O Trial Orientation for the TLs and ATLs was fun! It was the first time for me organising something like this, and together with Phyllis, so I’m glad the pre-O trial orientation was a success! The purpose of this pre-O trial orientation was mainly for us to try out some of the games and gather feedback on the activities of the RBKD Orientation 2012, and the TLs/ATLs really gave useful feedbacks to allow us to make the Orientation smoother and even more exciting!
This year, we are going to try out a new ice-breaker other than the usual ones! *drumroll* It’s called “Crossing the River”! It may sound easy, BUT, nyehehe, *grins* you may want to rethink about it! Those who know about it shall keep it under suspense for now alright!
So to all the attendees, be prepared for an unforgettable experience! :D

Yan Ling, Participant:
Though there were only about 10+ people involved for Pre-O trial orientation, we actually had fun and laughters at the ulu void deck! At first it was serious briefing by the organizers but after discussions and Q&As, the atmosphere got more warmed up and we had a clearer picture for the Orientation day’s flow and games.
For the trial, we tried out one of the ice-breakers “Crossing the River†which is…………………… *you will find out that day :p*. Ya, so for that ice-breaker, the teams must overcome obstacles to complete their tasks. While trying out the ice-breaker and laughing at each other, I guess we are all more excited for the actual orientation to come soon!”

Yue Chang, Participant:
The organisers have sincerely organised a “mini” orientation for us. I find that it was a very good experience.. It was fun to communicate through whatsapp for the amazing race and I had so much fun. Though the Bishan Park was rather huge, while walking through the park fulfilling our tasks, we had so much fun chatting because we have so many things to share with our team mates. All in all, it was a great pre-orientation trial as we tried out a few mini games too. I enjoyed it =)

What:Â Picnic & Frisbee @ ECP
When: 20 May 2012
Where: East Coast Park
Participant(s):Â Candice, Clarence, Junqi, Kah Yin, Yee ling, Yunxian, Yvonne and Zhiqing.
—
Junqi and Kah Yin, Organisers:
Had a list of suggestions initially and picnic & frisbee was finally decided after voting :D
At the start, we lost our way and spent a looong time trying to locate each other, so the IPC was delayed. Nevertheless, we managed to find a shady spot to have our picnic while getting to know one another. Had a good laugh listening to everyone share their experiences with Rui En and RBKD :P
After filling our stomachs, we started on frisbeeee (with monkeys!) :D It was pretty hilarious seeing how everyone was trying to get hold of the frisbee through various methods –
1. jumping high but still unable to catch the frisbee
2. running as fast as they could till they fall/slip to the ground together
3. pressing the frisbee to the ground to prevent ‘monkeys’ from getting it
4. engaging in a tug-o-war with the frisbee
5. monkeys tricking humans into believing they are humans
All except one who was just standing there daydreaming till the frisbee hit her/ppl call her before she realizes the frisbee is right in front. Hahaha! :P
The best part was when we all sat and relax on the breakwater! Enjoying the sea breeze and scenery while singing songs like “Home”, “Reach Out For the Skies” etc (and scaring kids off in the process :P). It felt so good with the wind blowing in our faces, especially in this kind of humid weather!
All in all, we had fun together!! :D wheeee~

This was the first time I met up with the RBKD members and at the same time looking forward and feeling nervous. We sat down and have a little chat before exercising our body with a game of freebies. We all had fun and I can say we bonded quite well.
It’s been a while since I had so much fun. It was really an enjoyable day for me and I am really looking forward to the actual orientation.
Thanks Kah Yin and Junqi for organizing this event.

Yvonne, Participant:
This was the first time I took part in RBKD activity. Although the group was quite small but I think everyone do enjoy ourselves.
We had a mini picnic by the beach and had a nice chat. Rangels were very friendly in engaging topics. Listening to Rangels sharing their experience with Rui En and RBKD was interesting. I had fun while playing the ‘monkey’ game using Frisbee although there was a small incident when Candice and I were going after the Frisbee.
We took group photo on the breakwater with the boundless sky and sea as the background while Rangels started singing Rui En’s song loudly on the breakwater. It was really nice to hear them sing.
I had a well spent Sunday at East Coast Park and I’m looking forward to the next activity and orientation.

It was my first time joining an IPC, and initially I was a little apprehensive and hesitant about joining the Orientation and the IPC as I usually feel awkward around people whom I don’t know well.
However, after meeting the Rangels for the first time, I realized that they are actually very friendly and approachable people. Even though I was late for the IPC, everyone was very welcoming, and initiated conversations as well as interacted with me. I really felt glad that I had taken that first step out to sign up for the Orientation and the IPC.
I really enjoyed myself alot, especially when we went wading in the river/stream. We had to grab each others’ hands and support each other because of the slippery stones and rocks in the river/stream and for me it felt really good to have that sense of “comrade”.
I got to meet new people and make new friends as well. (: It was a really fun and interesting IPC, and I’ll definitely participate in more IPCs whenever I can! :D

Jasmine, Participant:
It’s my first time meeting those Pre-O participants and I’m super excited! At first, when we went to feed the fishes, most of them were quite quiet. Then as we move on to other activities, we chatted on the way and got to know each other better. We went for dinner afterwards and Lionel started to introduce us to the orientation participants!
I believe everyone really enjoyed themselves and got to know each other better. :)
A big thank you to the organiser and I look forward to more Pre-O IPCs!

What: Steamboat Dinner
When: 11 June 2011
Where: Bugis, Beach Road
—
Jean’s table:
Steamboat dinner at Bugis was noisy at my table, just because of a meatball (which up till now, I don’t know why…). Haha! Compared to the other tables, I guess our table was also the messiest. Only after the group photos of the other tables were taken then did we realised it. Tissue paper everywhere, clam and crab shells all over the place.
HAHAHA! After this steamboat dinner, I know who doesn’t eat much:P The food wasn’t that bad and at least it filled my stomach up till I felt like sleeping so badly towards the end. Haha!
—
Ser Chee’s table:
Our table consists of:
Dong fen masters (cellophane noodles)
Basically the 3 masters grabbed 4 mountains of dong fen in total. We are pretty sure if there are more dong fen at the counter (they cleared most), they will end up with more than just 4 mountains of it.
Mushroom attacker
This attacker simply attacks all types of mushrooms, not letting go of any in sight. She even knows the pricing and the exact quantity of those can ones. Right hor, miaoting?
Difference in definition btw: Taiwan sausage vs sausage vs hotdog
There exists a Taiwan sausage lover, who requested for sausage and ended up being served with hotdogs. So morale of the story: Either u state clearly what u want OR simply go get it yourself.
RBKD steamboat dinner definitely has the feel of a family reunion dinner. Heartwarming and filled with joy. We love the RBKD style =D
—
Kah Yin’s table:
After a long day out @ Sentosa, we went for steamboat dinner @ Bugis! YEAH! :D At the start, people at my table were pretty quiet compared to the other table. Guess its because we are hungry and tired? LOL. Or isit just me? HAHA. Yes, I love going out to take food! Why? Because of the GOLDEN MUSHROOM!! WAHAHA! But the tray containing the golden mushroom just kept becoming empty the first few times we went down >_< But finally, after a few trips down, HOHOHO, the golden mushroom was finally refilled. But we are not selfish, we didn’t take all but who knows later on, Joyce and Rachael went down and took the remaining up! HAHAHA! In the end, we emptied the whole tray of golden mushroom! LOL! :P And our steamboat thus was full of golden mushroommmmmmm! (I like! HAHA!)
After an hour of eating, everyone at my table was more or less full, so we started playing games!! This was where we started becoming noisy! First we started playing ‘The Ultimate Number’ and then ‘Concentration’. Those who lose had to eat a whole scoop of food from the steamboat! HAHA! Some of us even ate up close to 10 scoops of food! :P FUN!! Thereafter, we pay our bills and left the place full and contented! :D It’s always fun with RBKD, even if it was just a dinner! :D
Missing in picture: Ethan who left 10 minutes before this photo was taken.

Seraphilia’s table
I really enjoyed myself at the steamboat dinner. My table was awesome! I first started not knowing much people at my table…but a while later we started getting to know each other better. I luv my table bcuz everyone was real chatty n funny. After we ate till our tummy’s gonna burst, we had lots of fun chatting about Rui En’s stuff and all…the food there was awesome too. Thanks to the people at my table for being so friendly, cheery n chatty! haha!
What: RBKD Orientation 2011
When: 11 June 2011
Where: Sentosa

Yes, it was pouring heavily on the morning itself.
But No, the rain didn’t daunt the RBKD’s spirit.
That’s why we are called ç‘žä¸å¯å½“ =D hahaha…
Double wacko!! Love this game because it helps us remember names & faces – the fun way!
3 plus 1!! A RBKD trademark introduction game which allows us to know more about other members :)
Amazing Race – Bengyan (Member since 2010)
Ever played amazing race using Whatsapp? RBKD did it =) Sent our completed task (be it pictures or video) through Whatsapp to our organizer and get the clues to the next station.
We are literally exploring the whole of Sentosa. Got weird stares from the public when we asked a group of Vietnam students to form the word RBKD and shout “WE LOVE RBKDâ€. Although in the end our group did not win, it is the bonding and interaction between us that really matters.
Amazing Race – Mandy and Samuel (Member since 2010 and 2011 respectively)
We definitely made the $3 worthwhile by getting on the monorail sooo many times! We practically walked the whole of Sentosa, did crazy things and got stared at (like taking quirky photos with Merlion as the backdrop)
The jumpshot in front of the globe was the funniest because my slippers flew into the puddle of water when I jumped and the water splashed onto someone!! Really sorry to that person :$
Now we can proclaim that we’ve conquered Sentosa Island with RBKD!!
Amazing Race – Kahyin (Member since 2008)
Started Amazing Race after our lunch and OMG, our group went to the wrong place for the FIRST station!! We went to the entrance of Sentosa when the venue should be at Palawan. What a good start huh! Haha! But we had fun doing the video for 慢舞 as our fast forward helpline! We even did a chicken dance video after we completed our “MV”! LOL! Seem like we are addicted to dancing!
—
It’s really amazing how a group of strangers can have such great interaction and ended up being such awesome group mates. Many of us didn’t even know each other before this. Never ever underestimate orientation; this is where friendship can be build.
Lastly, thank you everyone for making this orientation possible =D
Signing off,
Bengyan & Serchee
