What: Badminton @ Khatib

When: 16 October 2010

Where: Yishun Sports Hall

Participant(s): Celest, Mandy, Isabel, Isabelle, Eunice Zee, Jiayi, Charmaine, Jiamin, Bengyan, Yunxian, Krystal, Berlin, Eunice Ng, Kah Yin, Elaine, Zi Lei, Hui Ping, Ser Chee.

Alberton, Organiser:

This is my 1st time organising a Badminton IPC and I am glad that all of them turn up. As I only booked 2 courts for 1 hour each, I decided to split them up into 4 per group and play the match with 21 points system and rotating new players to come in to play after each match has ended. To my surprise, Kah Yin played extremely well despite having a height disadvantage when playing against taller opponents.

After the match has ended, we walk all the way from Yishun Sports Hall to Northpoint for our dinner. Along the way, we started to chit chat with the senior and new members. We ended the IPC with another group photo just outside the food court. I hope that everyone has truly enjoyed this IPC and my apology for not being able to book more courts for the 2 hours period.

Mandy, Ordinary Member:

Tbh, i thought it would be rather awkward cos i didn’t know anyone there yet (except for the fact that i know Berlin), but surprisingly it wasn’t all that awkward! Everyone were friendly in one way or another and i really liked that smile.

The badminton part was fun, even tho the court rules are so confusing!!

Overall, it was an enjoyable afternoon with everyone who went, i had fun! It feels great meeting and knowing new people smile. Thanks Alberton for organizing this IPC!

Yunxian:

Badminton ipc was really fun. This is the second IPC event i went to. Got to know many friendly people through this event too. Many were good in playing badminton, and everything. Everyone was like, entertaining one another, making each other laugh, etc. I enjoyed myself alot during the few hours. Bonding session was nice as well. (:

Charmaine, Ordinary Member:

Today is my 3rd time attending an IPC event, it was quite fun as there was quite a big group of people. As the previous 2 IPC that I went for did not have that many people.

After the two hours were up, we walked to North Point to eat. It was quite a long walk but we had fun chatting on the way to have our dinner. After our dinner, we had another group photo. We wanted to stay on and have more bonding activities however, there was no space available for playing games. And thus we had to end our IPC, but it was really fun and we got to meet more people and make more friends.

Bengyan, Ordinary Member:

First time joining a badminton IPC and it was fun.
Get to meet lots of newbies and members-to-be.
We took turns to play in the court and managed to sweat alot.haha
Really have fun bonding with some of them.
And we really looked like having a class excursion with this whole big group of people.
Hope there’s more to come =)

What: Bowling @ Marina II

When: 10 October 2010

Where: Marina Square

Participant(s): Alberton, BengYan, Candy, Charmaine, Eunice, Sarita, SerChee

Wyman, Organiser, Priority Member:

Okay I’m gonna start with a really cliché opening: This is the first time I’m organizing an IPC activity and I’m really glad that things went fine without any glitches. Oh wait, there were glitches. Our lanes were always jamming up, luckily we solved them eventually. (Bonus throws? Lol.) Everything else was great!

SerChee and BengYan played so well it’s as if they have bowling lanes at home for practice. Oh. I must mention BengYan’s remote controlled bowling skills. It’s amazing how she always can accurately strike down ONE remaining bowling pin. O.O

To be honest, I’d organised this simply because I wanted to bowl. It just suddenly hit me that I could organize an IPC for this and ta-da :D

Alberton, Ordinary Member:

It was an enjoyable and memorable day today, although it is my 1st time learning how to play bowling. I still can remember how I fall down on the bowling track during my 1st attempt, didn’t know that the floor is so oily and slippery. The experience was great, later during lunch at Pasta de Waraku, we interacted with each other and get to know each other more =)

Ser Chee, Ordinary Member:

Nope, no one dropped their ball. As usual, ‘Drain-washing’ is the norm. But nevertheless, the session was still much enjoyable.

Laughters filled the air, and that’s what makes the bowling session interesting, isn’t it.. And I have to say the ‘practice’ session during the JB trip was really helpful, esp to Bengyan. The rest will know why. hahaha..

Lunch at Waraku was a nice one too. As the no. of pax was just 8. The size was right. So that makes interaction an easier and engaging one.

A nice 10.10.10 :)

Candy, Participant, Ordinary Member:

Glad that i can make it for today bowling IPC it was fun and exciting
really glad i went !! :) Will remember the purple colour ball no 8 is our team lucky ball.

it was a special date 10.10.10 and even our price was 10 cool !

I hope we will have our bowling ipc soon real soon again ! :)

BengYan, Ordinary Member:

It was a fun experience to have the chance to bond with the fellow RBKD members. Everyone was quite quiet at first. After everyone settle down, we have our own 3+1 introduction and there goes the start of
our bowling ‘competition’. The introduction did help everyone to open up. We played 2 games and our team did quite well. Haha =)

After bowling, we proceed to have our lunch at Waraku. This is the time where we can really sit down and chit-chat to know more about each other. We then have our photo-taking after lunch and this is definitely a good chance to know more of the fellow members.

P.S.: The JB trip really did help us warm up on our bowling skills =)

JB trip- A thrilling adventure with idol’s presence in the “lost” world

Well, the title says it all.
It was an extraordinary trip with the “awesome-ness” group of RBKD people! Morning breakfast in KFC, we were still quiet, well; it’s only Ser Chee whom was noisy because she’s hungry! HAHA.

Waited for the cool 7-seater car to arrive and board it! This was the starting of our journey in the “lost” world. Save the part where we need to pass through the customs, because I’m certain that majority of you all know how it works :p It’s just that the JB officer kind of cheated money by asking to buy a “touch and go” card. -.-

AND, we finally arrived to the Johor Bahru after all the procedures. First stop, the super big shopping mall which has JUSCO and my favorite Papa Roti! Hehe! And we went to get A&W for idol and ourselves! Every one of us can’t stop loving the A&W cup. HAHA. We wanted to drive to get steamed chicken for idol, but there’s insufficient time. After getting all the things that we wanted, we board the cool car and proceed to idol’s event venue. Okay, I would like to express this: I’m a true failure in reading maps. Luckily there’s xinyi and sharely to read from maps and GPS, if not, we’ll be in the same spot forever. While travelling, we spot something! Idol’s event banners were along the roadside and so we just follow accordingly, and true enough, we reached the venue in split seconds. Thanks to her banners! (P.S. This is the only smooth journey that we did not get lost along our travelling journey)

Event- Thanks to Lydia, whom save a good spot for us! ^^ just before idol came on stage, we had this game which the MC wanted a few of us to play. Thus, Jiamin and I volunteered without even know what are we going to do? HAHA, then it were just blowing of balloons, tying them, and seat on it! Jiamin was in charge of seating the balloons while the rest of us blow. It was rather embarrassing and hilarious! Perhaps an awkward moment for Jiamin! HAHA. The host was saying “哇!原来瑞恩的粉丝,屁股还蛮有弹性的。” HAHA!

And the long awaited moment arrived, Idol’s presence! Please watch the videos! ^^ She starts off with some characters introduction from her dramas. Obviously, she sang songs! OMG, RBKD was shocked we knew she was going to sing 白色羽毛。However, her live singing was tremendously well done! The second song was the familiar 青蛙!我很喜欢这首歌!From the videos, we can see she’s enjoying each and every moment of her singing. ^^ While we were seated in front, breathing in the entire second-hand smokers cigarette however all of us were attracted to her singing and so we just had to cover our nose and hear the wonderful voice! She was not looking at us, until we chant her froggie with her, and that’s when the sweetest smile appeared. (:

The 3 volunteers that were chosen to ask idol question! This was quite hilarious, sweet and warm. Why? Because apparently, the little girl was suppose to ask her question but she was shy, so it was jiamin’s turn to ask her, but idol wanted to ask her instead. “你们是这么来的?” From her question, I felt the sweetness and warmth in it, I guessed not only me but all of us ^^, because she’s worried and concern about our safety! Awwww.

Next stop, an “unknown” shopping mall in skudai, there goes our bowling “tournament”. Team sharely, snail, joyce and jiamin VS Team Bengyan, Ser Chee, Liyan and min. HOHO, I WAS THE OVERALL WINNER OKAY! HAHA! 不要小看我!虽然我很可爱,但是打bowling 时,很厉害的 OKAY! Hahah! THEY ALL WERE SAYING MY BOWLING HAD “BALLERINA STYLE”! All of them were laughing at the way I played bowling! (P.S I need to gain potential energy ma! HAHA) AND I DON’T HAVE BALLERINA BOWLING STYLE LA! HAHAHA.

Next was the makan place! OMG, please people, DO NOT TRUST GOOGLE IN JB. It gave us wrong information!! And we end up in I-don’t-know-and-all-of-us-don’t-know kind of place! HAHA, so ulu! All the constructions, broken, old buildings were over there! And so we drive off again! THIS TIME ROUND, JB roads are like never ending maze. We knew where we want to go but we just had this problem of “HOW” to reach there. Lucky enough, there were friendly kind souls whom they brought us to the high way? SUPER LONG U-turn to make. With words such as “left turn, u-turn, opposite..etc..” were already too familiar with us that one more time of mentioning it, all of us will get irritated. HAHA. After all the clarifications of the roads, we finally reached the “ulu” place which they sell the special chicken. We went to “investigate” the scene! And we walked into the place where they “buried” our chickens! Really looks cool! HAHA. Look at the pictures in the gallery okies? ^^

After all the yummy food, we wanted to go back to A&W to at least have a “cheers!” using the mug with rootbeer float in it! But we spend almost an hour to find out the route! And when we managed to find out, we realize it will be another few minutes ride. So, we didn’t get to “cheers!” ):

Last but not least, we came back HOME! Ohyes, we toured Singapore too! HAHA! After sending the rest back to their homeland, Xinyi, ming and I went to changi to return the car, and we went to use the trolleys which were meant to put luggage to put our items and it seems like we’ve just touched down Singapore’s Changi Airport! HAHAAH. Look at the pictures too ! ^^

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO BRING A GPS IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING TO AN UNKNOWN PLACE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THIS.

It was really an extraordinary and awesome trip with them! The best thing was that we get to know that idol was really popular with the people there, and we were really happy and glad for her!

Let’s take off again in future! This time by air! HAHA *wink*

29 September 2010 | 01:51 am

This mark the first event I had with RBKD and it’s out of this tiny red dot, Singapore.
Breakfast with some of the Dang-ers and off we go.

Jusco, A&W was our purpose but didn’t get to drink the rootbeer float from the glass mug.
After which was straight to her event as we were running late.
Luckily for the banners along the road that guided us there.

Crowds there were much more then what I expected.
Settled down and all ready for her performance.
(This uncle beside me asked if we were from sg and commented that her acting was GD =))

Time for RE… there’s a short interview and she sang 2 songs, 白色羽毛 &青蛙.
No doubt, when she says 白色羽毛, it really shocked us.
And I never thought that I will be able to hear that live again.
Her singing was AWESOME *3.

Post event activities were none other then fun and laughter.
Bowling at this “ulu-ulu” mall.
And guess what, I think we girls caused a lift to break down. Opps!
So many funny things happen – dropping bowling balls, ballerina, etc.
Laughter was heard everywhere.

We took a damn long time to get to our dinner place.
Google give us the wrong address and got ourselves in some abandon area.
Making lots and lots of u-turns, left turns, right turns…
And we even go against the traffic but luckily at that moment, there is no traffic.
Drive to a dead end and we were so luckily to met our ‘jiu xing’ that make the effort to lead us out.
After going round and round, we finally reached.
Went to look how our beggars chicken is being cooked and took pictures.

Decided to head back to A&W to have our rootbeer in the glass mug BUT we were lost.
Ended up spending a great 45mins figuring out the route and decided not to go.
Next,Home sweet home.

Nothing can describe the time spend together.
An Awesome Adventure Definitely.

26 Sept 2010 – An extraordinary Sunday :)

In short, 3 F’s.

The First. (my maiden event with RBKD)
The Fewest. (I supposed this is the fewest no. of pax for an event becos it’s in JB?)
The Furthest.

Basically, we embarked on an adventure. We discovered the many things that we never knew before, from the moment we entered the customs till we left. The most important take-away from a day in JB
was: to always keep left -____-

To be honest, I am not really used to attending an event of hers possessing the identity of being a dang-er yet. But since it was in JB, I couldn’t really care much either. We have gotten the first row seats all thanks to Lydia. It was really different watching it in the first row. Even taking pic was so much easier. I just love her live performance and yes, her白色羽毛 definitely shocked me. And I like the interaction btw her and the fans. Esp the part where she asked JM a qns, where it was supposed to be the other way round. After her event, we took a pic in the middle of the road with the evidence that we were in JB (the traffic controller). Interesting.

After that, we left for our ‘IPC’, bowling at Skudai parade, where we spoilt a lift. LOL… Basically the whole life went jerking and the door was stuck. Scary as it sounds, but I thought it was funny at the same time too. Bowling was basically just for laughs, esp when ppl starts dropping their bowling balls in that ‘cursed’ lane.

I realized even the weather was nice to RBKD on this very eventful day, in two instances in which I could rmb, where the rain stopped when we were about to leave the place. Looks like JB welcomes RBKD.

Our dinner was so precious and well-deserved. First, it was the wrong place, all becos google provided the wrong add. A place that looked like nothing but just a waste land where no humans could be spotted. But still managed to find out the correct add thanks to Li Yan.

Then it was the wrong turn. We know exactly where it was, which was just opposite of where we were. But we ended up on a dead-end, where our hearts sank. Till this kind soul who led us out. Our savior. So there is a reason why we ended up there. To meet him. We learnt another lesson: google can’t be trusted in JB.

Dinner. We were fascinated by how they cooked the beggar’s chicken. RBKD with the stove and the spade. Basically it was just a bunch of mountain turtles there. LOL. Dinner was nice, not becos of the food, or rather becos of the ppl. Loves this kind of family-feeling.

After dinner, it was A&W time supposedly. But disappointing enough, after searching for a whole 45 mins till even sharely’s iphone died, we gave up the idea after figuring out it wasn’t anywhere near, no clear directions and the night was getting late. So home sweet home.

So here you go: my first ever event with RBKD. Memorable and sweet as it is :)

Now can I request for more overseas road trips? But maybe not back to JB -____-‘’’

Lesson Learnt #1, always keep to the left:

At the Second Link’s Toll Plaza, we drove to the center lane without a Touch ‘n Go card. Guess what? It was an unmanned counter. No wonder there was a queue at the first two lanes. And so, we had to reverse our car and “queue up” obediently at the left lanes =(

Lesson Learnt #2, it’s okay to reverse your car:

While queueing, we saw another driver doing what we did, reversing out from his lane and joining us at queue too. Glad to know that we ain’t the only ones =)

Lesson Learnt #3, validate your parking ticket even if its FOC:

“Non-Member: Free parking for 2 hours”

So after getting our curly fries, hotdogs and rootbeer floats, we drove our way to the exit without validating our $0 parking ticket. In the end, of course the only thing we could do was to REVERSE again =/

Lesson Learnt #4, Renting a GPS system is a MUST:

Why? Because Google maps led us to Kilometres away from our desired destination (after her event) and we had to use the GPS on an iPhone. The bill for data usage was 1.5x the cost of renting our Honda Odsessy, and we rented from Hertz (not a cheap option). Well, at least we contributed to our neighbour’s economy =/

Lesson Learnt #5, humans are KPO by nature:

It was so difficult to get these shots because the drivers would all drive at 1km/h when beside us. Well, at least we didn’t cause any accidents =)

Our vehicle for the day =)

Bengyan & Shirley, enjoying themselves =)

PS: Our beloved Driver was hiding behind the camera……

Trivia #1, at the Woodlands Customs on our way back:

Someone: “The way we are squeezing to make our faces seen by the customs officer, it’s almost as though we are asking him to help us take a group pic hor?”

No wonder the customs officer was Em-Qio-ing ;)

What: Taman Mutiara Mas Grand Opening

When: 26th September 2010

Where: Skudai, Johor, Malaysia

Participant(s): Lydia, Jiamin, Joyce, Xinyi, Serchee, Bengyan, Shirley & Li Yan.

Xinyi:

It was a last minute decision to head up to JB. The rationale was simple enough, we thought it would be a nice gesture and we needed videos anyway. So it was a frantic calling to the various car renting services approx. 48 hours before the event.

We were caught in a small jam on our way there, luckily at the next turn, we saw the event banners with her face on every other lamp post. So she “guided” us to the event venue, thanks! =D

We were kind of surprised to see such a big crowd at the “ulu-ly” located event; and thanks to Lydia, we managed to get a prime spot despite arriving late. Thanks!

It was a little squeezed and it was scorching hot but thumbs-up for the organising, the ones at Singapore can’t be mentioned in the same breath, no where near.

It was a big surprise that she decided to sing 白色羽毛, personally I don’t remember her performing any tracks from her debut album post-Metamorphosis.

She sang 青蛙 next and as usual, she looked EVERYWHERE ELSE except at us, now before you say anything like “What’s new?”, here’s one indeed. When we chanted “希望希望”, she smiled at us in the most appreciative manner.

I really liked that moment, like a mutual understanding that we are always there for each other.

Oh, and “what’s new”? We took our group pic at the middle of the road AGAIN……

Jiamin:

After much effort, we finally got to our destination around 1pm. We took some time to settle down and before RE’s performance, the host asked for 6 volunteers to participate in a game and both Joyce and I volunteered. We got chosen and the start of my agony begins……

The aim of the game was to use the butt to burst as many balloons as possible in a minute. Since I couldn’t really blow nor tie balloons, I will have to burst them!! After the first one was blown, I rushed to the chair and sat on it and it went … POP! And this carried on for the next 3 balloons. Well, our team ended with 4 balloons burst in a minute and it was a tie with the second group. So both groups got our goodie bags :D –I guess I have to agree with the host that my butt is rather有弹性 BUT it hurts!!-

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8fx8hU3Y2Y

Up next was RE’s segment. It started off with a short interview where the host asked about Unriddle, her upcoming show and a few questions such as any characters that she is interested to act if she have the chance and she replied mental patient. After the interview was her singing 2 songs-白色羽毛 &青蛙. I was shocked when she said the first song cause I really din expect to have the chance to hear that song live again. Nonetheless the singing was superb, could see that RE was enjoying herself on stage, grooving to the music.

After that was another game session. This time round 3 volunteers were needed and I went on stage again…….. To me, this game was worse cause it involves acting!!! I was like ‘ ah die, why did I volunteer?! Should have waited for the host to finish saying everything before I raise my hands =.=’ But well, I guess I will only do such things out of Singapore..back in sg我是很 shy de k!! So yup, I got to act as a police:)

Finally, it was an autograph session for selected individuals. After signing and taking photos, RE’s event ended and she left….We stayed for a while before continuing with our post-event activities :D

What: Arty-farty shooting at Haji Lane/ ‘Old School’

When: 11 September 2010

Where: Haji Lane

Participant(s): Candy, Celest, Yunxian, Isabelle, Spring, Jiayi, Joyce, Alberton, Charmaine, Eunice Zee, Eunice Ng, Rachael, Yu Tian, Kah Yin, Pei Fang

Celest, Organiser:

This is my first time organizing an IPC and it was a huge group of 15 people. I took the initiative to organize after Xinyi encouraged me. I was also happy that Candy (Organizer 2) was able to help.

The IPC has left a deep impression in me. I made acquaintances with the RBKD members (both senior and new members) having different kinds of personalities (the shy, quiet ones and the outgoing, very enthusiastic ones), of different age groups and at different academic levels.

Overall the photo-taking experience was good but just that the weather was scorching. It’s great to know that the participants were looking forward to our IPC and I would like to thank all of them for their support, interest and enthusiasm.

Yun Xian, New Member-to-be:

Arty farty event was a rather nice and fun one. I got to know many new people through this event. Many were hyper and high, and of course, friendly as well. Saw many nice stuffs through those shophouses, and also took many photos of them. Everyone is so cheerful, they can make each other laugh. Hope to join more events as such, it is gonna be really fun. :)

Charmaine, New Member-to-be:

This is the first IPC event that i join after joining RBKD, so it was quite exciting and also scary at the same time. Made new friends during the activity… Joyce, the friendly senior, was trying to break the ice.

Candy and Celest, the organizers were also trying to organize us at the train station to introduce ourselves. In all, the event was fun! Thanks to the organizers for planning this outing and A BIG THANKS to the seniors for breaking the ice and also looking after us. :)

What: Volunteering with Loving Touch 关怀方式

When: 26th & 28th July 2010

Where: Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled

Participant(s): Collen, Jiamin & friends, Junqi & friends, Joanne, Liz & friends, Shirley, Wyman & friend, Xinyi & friends.

Xinyi, Volunteer:

The paint vapour was unbearable, we couldn’t stop tearing.
The camera kept filming, we couldn’t stop hiding.
The end result was lovely, we couldn’t stop smiling.

That pretty much summed up the whole experience.

“If Rui En knew that you all are doing this, she would be so proud of you.”

Actually other than the research writer and producer, I didn’t let anyone else know that we were from RBKD. There’s definitely no need to. True enough, we were constantly teased by the cameraman uncle who discovered our “identity” accidentally =/

“为什么没有叫瑞恩来? 那你们还来干嘛?”
“谁? 是谁的歌? 瑞恩的啊?”
“为什么没有播瑞恩的歌?”
“你好,我是瑞恩,我喜欢唱歌。”

Giving the pillars an artistic touch together with the friendly Kym Ng.

Taking a photo at the mirror painted by Junqi and her friends.
