What: Photoshoot for RBKD tee

When: 26th March 2011

Where: Marina Barrage

Participant(s): Jean, Jiamin, Shirley and Xinyi

Jean, Priority Member:

When Xinyi first approached me for the photoshoot, I was hesitating but I thought since is for the club, why not. At the end of the day, it wasn’t me who took the photo so I was really relieved actually. I felt that I “bonded” with the grass in Marina Barrage so much, I can forget about my slippers whenever I am there in the future:) Haha! Though the grass at Marina Barrage isn’t the greenest in Singapore (after seeing the grass in Istana), it was still greener than the usual ones you see along the roads or other parks. So much sunshine there, how can it not be greener right? Hahaha!

The initial plan was just having the tees in the photo and due to the strong wind, we had to take out whatever that was thin and flat to place it under the tee to ensure that it doesn’t “move”. Cellphones, cardless wallet and a U-Weekly magazine. That was the things that can be found underneath the tee. Haha! We tried to do another style of shooting the tees and that was star jumping in it. Did I mention, when the three of us were doing star jumps on the grass, it was super funny since it was really hard to “synchronize” together. We were trying to concentrate on “synchronizing” on the star jumps that our faces was really serious before jumping. Haha! Need to concentrate on so many “things” that we forgotten what to do sometimes so what we did in the end, jumping non-stop. Hahaha!

Things to remember during the star jumps:
1. “Synchronize” the jumps ( Jump together~)
2. Look and smile at the camera
3. Hands up in the air
4. Ensure the space between the three of us are equal
That was what was going through my mind during the jumps. Haha!

We tried another style of shooting the tee on us and that was us sitting down on the grass but it wasn’t really a good thing since the bottom half of the tee was covered. While Xinyi was doing something to the camera, I tried to do my sit-and-reach. Not bad, at least I still can touch my toes, still quite flexible. Haha!

After that, we changed to another style of shooting the tee and that was us lying down on the grass. I can’t remember how long we lied down on the grass for all I can remember is that I was laughing all the way. HAHAHAHA! I can’t stop laughing and I don’t know why~ We were suppose to be relaxing and naturally smiling into the sky, with our eyes closed/opened (More or less forgotten). Reason why? Laughing too much. HAHAHA! I would not say I never tried to do the above mentioned but I really did try and I started laughing even harder. HAHAHAHA! I did try to control though. Haha! It was definitely a bad idea to let my arms be at the bottom of theirs since when I laugh, my arms starting “shaking”. “Chain reaction” I guess, Jiamin and Shirley started shaking and laughing at the same time? I think… Haha! I really didn’t mean to cause all of us to lie on the grass longer but it was just really funny. At least at the end of it, we managed to have a photo for the tee:)

What: Day Out at Marina Barrage

When: 3rd April 2011

Where: Marina Barrage

Participant(s): Adeline, Bengyan, Berlin, Bi Hui, Candia, Candice, Charmaine, Cherie, Eunice Ng, Eunice Zee, Faye, Hoe tian, Jasmine, Jean, Jiamin, Jolie, Kah yin, Krystal, Mandy, Phyllis, Rachael, Ser Chee, Vanessa, Wyman, Xinyi, Yanling and Yue Chang

Mandy, Organiser:

First time organizing and gotta say we were really stressed out after seeing the number of people attending! Was really afraid of messing things up and not doing a good job, and worrying about this, and that, and this, and that. And we had so many “what ifs” in our head – it was crazy!!!

But I’m still glad we received help & encouragement from a few people, I’m thankful! ^^ I personally think we didn’t do a good job, but I sincerely hope everyone had fun, bcos I did! (even with the very, very scorching Sun!!)

GLAD TO KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY RED LOBSTER! HAHAHA.

Bi Hui, Participant:

This is my first time joining RBKD for outings. Though it was kind of awkward at first as don’t know anyone there and i am a kind of person that would be shy to open up at first, but overall it was a very fun outing as i get to know more Rui En fans upon this outing, and we had a great time playing games. And i feel that every single one is caring to each other. Like for the organisers, though i only knew that they actually brought food for event and we didn’t eat it when we are on our way home, i kind of felt bad and i wanted to say thanks to them for bringing all those food and sorry that i didn’t eat any cause i was kind of shy x.x Afterall, i’ve made some friends upon this outing and i would look forward to the next outing the next time.

Vanessa, Participant:

This is my first time attending an IPC event since I joined RBKD. Well, at first, I was eager to meet the peeps. Then finally I joined them at the marina barrage. We introduced ourselves and started playing some games.

Basically, I had fun. Even when it was very hot around noon time(my face is still red from sunburn ), and the late lunch, I enjoyed myself. Thanks to the two coordinators Mandy and Berlin for helping out with this IPC. . I also loved the new club tees. Thanks for all the effort!! I will definitely participate in IPCs more. :DDDDDDD

What: Korean BBQ Dinner @ Arirang Korean Restaurant (Liang Seah Place)

When: 8th January 2011

Where: Liang Seah Place

Participant(s): Bengyan, Berlin, Candice, Charmaine, Connie, Eunice Zee, Jean, Jiamin, Jolie, Kah Yin, Mandy, Phyllis, Rachael, Ser Chee, Shirley

Jiamin, Organiser

What does every human being have in common?
We have to eat to live!

I always feel that eating together can somehow result in people being drawn closer and which is why this activity is being organised. It wasn’t easy thinking of ideal locations and I need to factor in the cost (most members are only students). After much discussion, it was decided at Arirang Korean Restaurant!

The food wasn’t really fantastic but the atmosphere was great. Everyone seems to be having a good time, talking about anything under the sun. Being the biggest and noisiest group at the restaurant, we were easily the centre of attraction.

I think this IPC somehow proves my theory right :) New members blend in easily and the older members seem to be closer. Maybe the next makan IPC, organisers can consider it to be held earlier so that everyone can finish dinner by 8pm (jean hor?) :D

Connie, Participant

It’s my first outing with the guys and I felt rather jittery as I do not know anyone there personally. However, I’m glad Eunice Zee is sitting opposite me as she is very friendly and outgoing. In no time, I’m interacting with all of them. She brought the atmosphere up with her humorous antics and laughter is heard every now to the point our “neighbours” turned to look at us. >.<

After the dinner, we went window shopping before settling down outside the shopping mall chatting, laughing, sipping bubble tea and occasionally choking on the pearls. The only thing I felt can improve on for the dinner is probably the food. =X

What: RBKD Bai Nian Tour Stop 01

When: 6th February 2011 (4th day of Chinese New Year)

Where: Keat Hong (Charmaine’s place)

Participant(s): Alberton, Bengyan, Candice, Charmaine, Connie, Eunice Zee, Jean, Jiamin, Jolie, Junyee, Michelle, Phyllis, Rachael, Ser Chee, Shirley, Xinyi, & Yanling

Charmaine

This year RBKD came to my place for Chinese New Year. It was quite a fun experience. I met all of them at Lot 1 to get our Yusheng for the lohei later. It was quite fun as most of us knew each other and we were having fun waiting for everyone to come. After we got the Yusheng we went to get our drinks for later.

When we were at my house while waiting for Candice to reach with the rest that followed her car, Xin Yi joked that those without oranges cannot enter my house. And they really stood outside till Candice arrived with the rest and the oranges that were in her car. While waiting for all Jiamin, Yanling and Shirley. Candice and my brother were having fun playing the Xbox live.

When everyone arrived, we had lunch and some of them decided to play mahjong. So while they were at it the rest of us were chatting and having 2nd and 3rd rounds of the food. Someone commented that I can open a pet shop with the amount of hamsters that I have.

Then it was time for the lohei.. It was quite messy however it was fun. After we cleared up, Candice fetched us to Phyllis’s place.

Rachael

Met up with Candice, Ser Chee, Beng Yan and Twin at Tampines. Bought drinks, yusheng and off we go to Charmaine’s house to Bai Nian! (: We forget that our oranges are in a bag with Candice.. So yea, we stand outside the lift and waited for the oranges to “arrive”. Finally, the orange came. Took the oranges and went into Charmaine’s house. Greeted her parents and went to sit down.

Charmaine’s house is like a mini zoo man. HAHAH. She have dunno how many pet hamsters and another animal. Idk what’s that called. But it looks cute! Keke. Anyway, Charmaine’s grandmother cooked lunch for us. I love the curry! Its niceeee. Thank youuuu! (: Had a lohei session before we left. All the carrots etc dropped on my hand. :/ After the lohei session, my hand was totally messy! Bid good bye to Charmaine’s parents and off we went to Phyllis’s house. (:

What: Picnic & Kite Flying @ Marina Barrage

When: 27th December 2010

Where: Marina Barrage

Participant(s): Berlin, Casslynn, Jacky, Jolie, Junqi, Junyee, Mandy, Regin, Victoria

Casslynn, Organiser:

This is my first time organising an IPC and i’m really glad that junqi’s there to help me along. When we first reached marina bay, we realised that its raining, but luckily it stopped after a while! We started off with 3+1 and got to know each other better. The kite flying was fun although our strings got tangled together and junqi’s kite fell into the sea! :O but we managed to rescue the poor kite with help from random passerbys! (: the dinner was awkward, but i still enjoyed myself that day! :D thanks to everyone who turned up (:

Regin, Participant:

It was my first time attending an IPC and it was rather awkward as I didn’t know most of them. However, things got better after introducing ourself through 3+1. Also, the people there were very helpful and easily to get along with. After flying our kites, some of them left while the rest headed to Marina Square for Dinner. Although Dinner time was rather awkward, I still had an enjoyable time there. After dinner, we walked around the mall and then we parted to different ways home. It was great meeting and knowing new friends through this IPC. I look forward to joining more IPCs in the future. (:

Jacky, Participant:

Well, this is my second attended ipc with fellow rbkd members. But i still feel awkward cause I’m the only guy again. Luckily there is Mandy and her friend that I met before at the previous ipc so I don’t feel so awkward. It’s very fun at the barrage, kites flew up high and crashes, fell into the sea etc etc. I enjoyed so much of every minute over with rbkd members. I had always thought that fanclub people are people that are 18 or 20 of age. But I was wrong haha. Well this marks the end of my story. I would like to use this chance to thanks casslynn, junqi, Mandy, Berlin, and the others who attended the ipc (: hope to have more ipc again. :)

What: Volunteering with TNP @ Lions Befrienders

When: 30th December 2010

Where: Lions Befrienders SAC (Meiling)

Participant(s): Alberton, Bengyan, Charmaine, Jean, Jiamin, Phyllis, Rui En, Serchee, Shirley, Xinyi & Yanling.

Xinyi, President:

This is the first time RBKD volunteered with Rui En, vice versa. It was a coincidence that Rui En, RBKD and TNP (The New Paper) all approached Hype at around the same timing on the possibility of volunteering together, so tadah!

Spending time to volunteer is an admirable act, hence I didn’t let anyone in RBKD know of her involvement as I didn’t want the sincerity of my members to be doubted. I merely created a “Volunteer Opportunity on 30 Dec” topic in forum and fairly soon I got the 10 persons I needed for the session. I always knew that I could count on RBKD when it comes to these.

The experience was actually something new for us, not because of Rui En’s involvement, but because we usually choose to volunteer in opportunities that required lesser interaction. And it was certainly time well spent interacting with the elderlies for all of us, with all the singing and the games.

We ended the session with the elderlies bringing home the fruits RBKD bought and the goodie bags Rui En prepared.

I then joined Rui En & TNP in a tour around the estate, and had a peek into their SAC (Senior Activity Centre) and the home of one elderly.

It is heartening to know that Lions Befrienders have done an excellent job, taking very good care of the elderlies in the estate. We volunteer when we are free, but they are the ones who are always there.

Rui En was scratched by a frightened cat when its owner suddenly shoved it into her arms. The cat can certainly give Garfield a run for its money, no wonder it was named “Tiger”.

Up on the 10th floor of the block, it was the usual sight of either too packed or too bare. I personally would still prefer rented estates to have motion sensor lighting and railings at the two sides of the corridor, something the well-equipped estate could still improve on.

We actually didn’t get to interact much with Rui En because the focus of the day was on the elderlies. So you might have guessed that we did not take many pictures that day, wouldn’t seem right if we did that too. Still, I took a short clip of the Chicken Dance session.

This girl is genuinely sincere, it isn’t for publicity, nor is it for show. You can see it in her eyes.

:)

What: Table Tennis @ Bukit Panjang

When: 11th December 2010

Where: Senja-Cashew CC, Indoor Sports Hall

Participant(s): Wyman, Yang Hwee, JiaYi, Yun Xian, Eunice Ng, Yue Chang, Jacky, Mandy, Berlin, Eunice Zee, Charmaine, Isabelle, JiaMin, Jolie, Jasmine

Wyman, Organiser:

I missed playing Table-tennis and the IPC was indeed fun! =) I was pretty surprised at the number of attendees for the IPC because it’s double that of the IPC I organised previously, but I’m glad I got to know more of you guys.

Yang Hwee, Co-organiser:

It was my first time co-organising and participating in IPC. I had been a great time playing and knowing RBKD members. Though the group may be small, having interaction between each member is very important. I will like to join in this big family in more IPCs if i have the time:)

Jasmine, Participant:

This is the first IPC I’ve attended and it was pretty fun though most of us did not know how to play table tennis. It was awkward in the beginning as I didn’t know anyone, but slowly, I became familiarize with everybody and I was having lots of fun in no time. We started with the (3+1) introduction and took turns to play later on. The RBKD people were very friendly and super warm hearted especially during the bonding time.

After having dinner and chit chatting, we all went different ways home. Wyman and yang hwee was worried that me and yue chang didn’t know the way home so she asked if we did. But the funny thing was that they were the ones who didn’t know the way home. Anyway, it was sure an enjoyable day and I’m glad I attended this IPC :D

Yue Chang, Participant:

Today is my first time attending an ipc event. At first i didn’t dare to talk to anyone cos i didn’t know anyone there. But when we started to play table tennis i started to not feel so awkward anymore. some of us played well so i was quite embarassed cos i can’t play that well :P but i still enjoyed myself. Dining at subway and off we go. Home sweet home.

Mandy, Participant:

It’s only my 2nd time attending an IPC so everyone still looked like strangers to me. Thank god Wyman specially prepared the autograph bingo game for us so we can interact and get to know one another better! Now I know whos afraid of heights or doesn’t know how to swim etc. Hehe.

Somehow table tennis turned into a badminton/tennis game for us HAHA! The balls were flying everywhere, and it was so hard to hit it on the table! The time we spent playing table tennis together was really enjoyable & at the same time, hilarious! We even attempted to play like professional table tennis players… Muahahaha.

Dinner at subway was great because we got to interact more (and we filled up one whole row of tables~) It was great meeting and knowing new people again! I really enjoyed the IPC & I hope to see you guys again soon~ Thanks Wyman for organizing this IPC!

Berlin, Participant:

I was late :S the lrt turned one big round and me & Mandy was finding our way out as we are unfamiliar about that place haha. I feel kinda ‘shy’ at first as i dont really know many of them.. But slowly … I had fun playing table tennis even though I don’t know how to play haha. Nice to meet them!

What: YOUTHphoria 2010

When: 30 October 2010

Where: Singapore Discovery Centre

Yanling, Overall In-charge:

I guess this is the first time we have so many people going to RE’s event together! With about 50 participants altogether from our side, (Y)!

As a big group, it was pretty hard to assemble and organize everyone. Therefore the coordinator of the day, Joyce, has really done a good job in helping out with that. *clap clap* Thanks a lot for that! (:

Somehow time always passes quickly every time she is on stage. Even though we were there for about 6hours before her performance, but that 30minutes of her feels faster than our waiting time. Being able to see her coincidentally at the walkway made me feel really “Awww~~”

Joyce, Coordinator:

Reached cityhall to meet the rest and off we set off to youthphoria event in the shuttle bus! i didnt do a lot of interaction on bus cause i PURELY WANT TO STONE. LOL. i got a hard time opening my pathetic lollipop. thanks celest! she opened it for me! HAAH.

Long after the ride, we’ve reached. met 147 (yanling) and got the tickets from her and moved in for the games, goodies etc etc! Played the Shooting game! Learning to be HU XIAO MAN is not easy, the small pistol can already weigh like an penguin! It was so heavy! And I only shot like 3 targets out of “don’t-know-how-many”. Went off to play and see other games and goodies. Went to catch show! OMG. Worst show ever, its like what Zilei had mention, pure action scene and no storyline. Decided to move out upon the second movie. HAHA. Went to had early dinner and carry on with other games and activities!

EVENT time- went out to entrance at around 5.55pm with 147 to meet the rest of the rbkd people, marked attendance and gave out entrance tickets, brought them in and seated them according to the planned seating arrangement. after all performances, the long awaited idol appeared! everyone shouted as usual. She sang 2 songs, QINGWA and BAISEYUMAO. okay la, everyone was snapping and video-ing but im just purely holding onto my board and sway and enjoy her performance. HAHA. so yes, im the 100% enjoying her performance person! HAHA.

After she sang BAISEYUBAO, i wanted to do something that leaves her an impact and impression of us in youthphoria event! SO i ask them to shout “RUI EN, WE LOVE YOU!” and of course the one and only replied back with “I LOVE YOU TOO” hee. so sweet right? ahya, tell you all here also no use! See videos bah! it was so successful! im so proud of rbkd! willing to work and cooperate together to achieve this! :D

AND AS USUAL, she’s stunning! no use writing too much too, look at pictures k? (:

enjoyed the event and day! although it was tiring but its worth it for the idol! right everyone? kekeke!

What: Seven.Zero.Eight

When: 7 August 2010

Where: Signature Park

Phyllis, Deputy Project Director:

Maybe for the first time, the attendance rate of the new members for members events were higher than the senior members!

Since the members were relatively unfamiliar with people around them , it was kinda awkward at the beginning for everyone. So we started with our usual (3+1) introduction method to get things started !

But the climax was when we played ‘Double Whacko’ !!!! Even the quieter ones started to get enthusiastic and the atmosphere was definitely better :) You have seen their faces when they called out their own partner (double whacko rule: to be paired up w another person in the inner circle, a.k.a your partner) ! Hahahaha, certainly worth remembering :)

Then it was time for ‘Don’t forget the lyrics’! They were certainly all hyped up when they were trying to make up their group name…. we had names like hypy (Hanyu Pinyin) etc.Hahahaha. Many of them were dying to use their phone dictionaries to check out the chinese character they didn’t know how to write! :P But they still tried their best and it was really a commendable effort :)

Well 天 下无不散之宴席, (all good things must come to an end) it was time to go and i am sure most of them had fun and got to know each other better! :)

Casslyn, Participant:

Seven.Zero.Eight was the first IPC I’ve joined despite being in the forum for almost one year, and it took a great deal of courage for me to meet up with the other members. It was certainly comforting to know that many of the members there were also as new as I was to the fan club; we were all there to make new friends :D

We introduced ourselves by choosing 3 of the questions given to us to answer. That helped me to learn a little bit more about the others, although I still couldn’t really remember their names well. I also had a whale of a time playing double whacko. Double whacko is indeed thrilling, with our hearts palpitating erratically whenever our names are called. A wave of guilt surged through me whenever I did not manage to call out another person’s name in time, but all of us know that nobody really minded or blamed anybody(:

“Don’t Forget Her Lyrics” is also unforgettable. I was in the ‘hanyupinyin’ group, and as our group name suggests, whenever the other teams get stuck at a chinese character, we will fill it up for them and earn the points instead. I must admit that my level of chinese doesn’t seem to be good enough for all those chim chinese words, hence all the credits are given to my awesome groupmates :D

We ended the day with taking photos and I believe that all of us had fun posing for them :D Looking forward to joining more IPCs in the future!

Celest, Participant:

I suggested having a fanclub gathering with all the members so as to allow new members like me to get to know the old and new members. I am glad that my suggestions has been taken into consideration and because of that, the SevenZeroEight was organised. It was a new experience for me joining a fanclub and reaching out of my comfort zone to meet people whom I don’t know in the first place but all like Rui En at the same time.

I enjoyed myself very much during the gathering, especially being involved in the “wacko” and “Don’t forget her lyrics” game. The “wacko” game was very effective in helping me to remember the names of the members and the “Don’t forget her lyrics” made me feel excited because I like to listen and sing Rui En’s songs. But I think it would be better if more older members have turned up for the event coz the majority are new members. I hope that this kind of gathering can be organized annually for members to mingle around and have fun.

Junqi, Participant:

It was kind of awkward at first because of the many unfamiliar faces around. However in the next hour or so, we slowly opened up to one another and started having real fun. Personally, I really like the ice breaker games. Not only did it lighten the atmosphere, but also fuelled interaction between the members.

All in all, it was a fun get together event, and I’m sure all of us had a great time. So kudos to the organizers! Looking forward to similar events in future (:

Xinyi, Participant:

Like what Phyllis said, this was our first club event with the new members outnumbering the senior ones. For so many of them, this was the first time they stepped out of their comfort zone (now these people are our regulars in IPC :P ).

This event was originally slated for 31st July, but it was such an auspicious date that it clashed with Unriddle’s event at Settlers. Yes, imagine the frenzy when we solved the first clue and realised that the events clashes! :O

Anyway, back to the event. It was really nice Shirley and I could take a back seat and act as mentors to our excellent organising team. Their “Double Whacko” proved to be so popular that it is now a must-have ice-breaker in RBKD. I’m glad I gave this event the green light :)
