What: New Year Countdown to 2014

When: 31 December 2013

Where: Boon Lay Place

Ser Chee, Priority Member:

Counting down to a brand new year with RBKD has become a yearly affair. This year is no exception too; my fourth consecutive year with RBKD which I cherish very much.

There is always something memorable to remember each year. From the human train in the previous years, to taking group shots at ‘interesting’ places..

This year, (since there was a road block), we decided to take group shots on the slope of a multi-storey carpark. Like how often do you get such chances, right? Haha.. Memorable indeed. With RBKD always.

Here wishing everyone a Happy 2014 :D

Xin Jie, Ordinary Member:

Boon Lay countdown to 2014 was a unique experience as it was my first time coming to a countdown venue from another countdown venue, Marina Bay Countdown.

I wouldn’t deny I was very tired but of course, attending the countdown was really worthwhile since Rui En was performing there!!! (: I was able to watch her performing Sky’s the Limit with Taufik live for the first time ever!! <3 I was sooo sooo happy & excited. Not forgetting her singing Ma Mu 麻木! Her presence, and her singing took away all my lethargy. (:

And then there was our group photo at the carpark which was really cute! It was my first time sitting down at a carpark and taking photos. A very hilarious and happy experience (:

Overall, Boon Lay Countdown '14 is another meaningful & memorable countdown that I won't forget & will keep the memories close to my heart. The 13-14 year transition too :D

Most definitely looking forward to countdown '15! (:

What: New Year Countdown to 2014

When: 31 December 2013

Where: Marina Bay Floating Platform

Yvonne, Priority Member:

I realised that I have spent quite a number of ‘first’ times with RBKD.

1st time queuing for the countdown event since morning; 1st time sitting by the roadside in town (with so many people walking past); 1st time experiencing both rain and shine within minutes onshore, and of course getting a chance to support Rui En at the red carpet.

Spending the last and first day of the year with RBKD and Rui En was awesome. The long wait for her performance wasn’t easy but it was all worth it. Guess it was a test of our patience and readiness for the countdown when it started drizzling since morning. All seemed to be fine while we were eagerly waiting at the red carpet area until it started raining again. It dampened our mood as we were afraid that if the rain were to persist, the red carpet show would be a no go. But thankfully, luck was with us as the rain stopped.

The whole craziness started from she walked on the red carpet till the end of her performance at the Marina Bay floating platform. Being able to see and hear Rui En perform Ma Mu live was awesome. Lastly, I would like to thank the members of other fan clubs who were willing to switch places with us during the red carpet event.

Yunxian, Priority Member:

Marina Bay’s Countdown to 2014 was a really exciting one! It was a super rushed day for all of us as she was performing at 2 places so we had to rush down immediately after her performance. We were literally running HAHAHA.

It even rained before the red carpet show so we were all quite worried, but thankfully the rain stopped in time and we managed to watch it. :) We were super high during her performance as well because it was the first time she was singing Ma Mu live!!! It was amazing hehehehe. Overall, it was a really awesome day :)

What: Special Appearance at The Final 1

When: 21 August 2013

Where: The Star Vista Performing Arts Centre

Joan Chen, Priority Member:

When I was first told that Rui En was going to make an appearance at The Final 1, I was over the moon as I have not heard her singing live before!

Yanling and I were tasked to bring the boards that day, as her appearance was supposed to be a “Surprise”, we didn’t stay as a group as we usually do, didn’t wish anyone to say “hi”, etc, all so to avoid people noticing us (from RBKD, i.e. there to support her).

When the master of ceremony announced that Taufik was going to sing “Sky’s the limit”, we were on our toes. When Rui En stepped out onto the stage, we went “bonkers”, we stood up and waved the boards to the music. She was certainly a great crowd rousers. I was very thankful that the music accompaniment were actually good. We could hear their voices clearly, of course, got super high from Rui En’s rocking performance!

I was also pleasantly surprised to see our Malaysian fan, Weijen flew in especially for this event. I was privileged to have a short catch up with her and Joey after the show.

Thank you RBKD for making it an enjoyable event and that we accomplished our mission of staying “mysterious” till she made the appearance!

Pei Jun, Priority Member:

The response I had when I got to know that she’s making a special appearance on the Final 1 is almost as equivalent as of a superstitious lady who got pregnant for the very first time – that moment of joy and excitement that sent you into a frenzy mode and you would love to share with the people around you, but you can’t until a certain point of time… Hahaha.

Anyway, I had fun singing and screaming with other rangels as we waved the boards in harmony. Oh, and the whole part of acting mysterious like a FBI on mission until the final showdown where she pops out… I kinda enjoyed that too…

All good things will come to an end, the song ended and the whole performance felt so surreal when she went off and vanished to the side of the stage. Gone in a blink of an eye… But we had fun!

What: ZZSF Masquerade Party

When: 11 June 2013

Where: MediaCorp TV Theatre

Yvonne Lim, Ordinary Member:

It was my first time going to Mediacorp TV Theatre, was kind of feeling excited for it. I felt that the theme for this party was a refreshing one; masquerade – everyone who attended the party has to put on the mask. As usual, event seldom start on time; hence while waiting we were all busy taking photos and chatting around.

We were all excited when Rui En made her entrance in the leopard print dress. I think the most enjoyable part of the party would be when all the artistes were on stage playing games. We had a great laugh at their interaction and gestures during the game; especially when Rui En has to imitate Zoe Tay’s voice. Looking at her facial expressions and gestures just brighten my day (night).

It just hit my mind that ZZSF party was the first event which I have attended, that we could sit comfortably to cheer for her. It’s a “privilege” to enjoy it in such a relaxing atmosphere, isn’t it?

What: L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Boosting Essence Road Show

When: 15 June 2013

Where: Compass Point Atrium

Lionel, Priority Member:

We reached Compass Point early to ensure good viewing angles of the front area. The event consists of a few activities and games that requires participation from the audience.

As one of the few males at the event area, I had the great fortune of participating in the first segment – verification of youth code’s claim – Boost Your Skin’s Absorption Power. The host requested for 3 members of the public, and after having 2 females, Rui En decided that a male volunteer would be good. Without hesitation, I raised my hand (unabashedly and in a rather ‘kiasu’ manner).

The highlight was that our idol would apply the Boosting Essence for us! (0.0) While I am eager to meet up with Rui En close up, I was both nervous and shy at the same time that she will be applying the Boosting Essence for me. Probably no words can fully express what I felt at that time, even an ‘excellent’ or ‘excited’ is truly an understatement. I was basically grinning for the rest of the day, even when I reached home! just like =D

Thank you Rui En for choosing me to participate!

Yvonne Lim, Ordinary Member:

Believe it or not, 15th June was actually the first time I stepped into Compass Point. And as it wasn’t 5pm yet, we started our small talks and “mini game” to kill time. The group of us played “Text Solitaire” the Chinese version which was quite a challenging and brain cells killing game. Time flies while we were chatting and playing away; it was also at this moment that we started to feel warm and the surrounding was much noisier.

Hence out of curiosity, I turned around and was shocked to see the number of people behind. The crowd was spread across 4 levels of the mall. Rui En once said that she was afraid that no one would turn up for her appearance when she first started out; but look at the crowd that day; we (including the huge crowd) were all there solely for her!! I am really honored to be given a chance to be a Rangel, to be her fans.

During the roadshow, one group of us actually “sabo” Yanling so she would have to go on stage to “read out” the advertisement slogan (one of the stage activities). Yanling quick-wittedly amended the slogan which I thought greatly conveyed the message to her – 因为她值得拥有.

Really enjoyed the time spent with Rangels and also that we get to see lots of her cute expressions throughout the event.

What: L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Boosting Essence Road Show

When: 1 June 2013

Where: Ngee Ann City’s Watsons

Bi Hui, Priority Member:

It wasn’t that packed at first as I’ve reached earlier but the crowd soon gathers that I could barely breathe!

It took quite awhile for the “Main Character” to walk on to the stage, and before you knew it, you could see tons of hands raising with phones, cameras and video recordings turned on, spamming flashes and snapping sounds from DSLRs and of course, our SUPER loud cheering. HAHA!

To me, it was quite an memorable experience as this is the first time I’ve participated in such endorsement event, what’s more, from Rui En *shy* Not forgetting that we’ve also “cared” for the other Rangels behind asking whether they could see her.

Though I could only see her through a small “hole” left by the people in front of me as they were too tall, those little facial expressions you don’t always see from her on-screen that made us all laugh like crazy, really brightens up my day.

Melissa, Ordinary Member:

It was my first time attending an event like this as I don’t like crowds and usually avoid this particular mall on Saturdays altogether. However this time, I attended, for her and of course to see my fellow Rangels.

Shortly after I arrived, members of the public started arriving too. In the blink of an eye, the entire area outside of Watsons was packed! After what seemed like eternity of waiting, she finally arrived! The wait was definitely worth it as she arrived glowing and looking so ethereal.

During the event, she kept all of us entertained with all her little gestures, her waves, and her smiles. Honestly speaking I did not pay much attention to the host the entire time because I was just in awe. The only thing I heard from the host was when she commented to Rui En that “You’re really pretty, do you know that?”

All in all, I really enjoyed the event. I enjoyed seeing Rangels working together to “guard” the space of our videographer and photographer so everyone would get to enjoy the event somehow. I enjoyed shouting for her, especially at the part where she was leaving and it was spontaneously brought up that we should shout “瑞恩, 你值得拥有” And just like that in a split second, RBKD made it happen. The teamwork was simply heart-warming.

Needless to say, I will definitely attend the next event with RBKD!

What: Star Awards 2013 Ceremony 2

When: 28 April 2013

Where: Marina Bay Sands

Participant(s): Bengyan, Gloria, è‹—, Jean, Jiamin, Joanne, Junqi, May Yen, Phyllis, Ser Chee, Shirley, Squeen, Weijen, Xinyi

Gloria, Ordinary Member (China Member):

Jean, Priority Member:

From Red Carpet to Show Two Ceremony was a mad rush. But luckily we managed to reach the venue early and we also managed to catch the preview of The Dream Makers :) Rangels were separated from each other this time round but… At least our presence was “felt” and heard :)

Thanks to May Yen, we had bottles of honey & aloe vera drink and almond fig tea but somehow amidst the mad rush from venue to venue, I brought the whole bag with me :P Hahahaha! The drinks helped us survive through the show:)

Being able to have the chance to scream for her each time is actually something I look forward to and it realllllly felt like ages since I last did it :P

I guess we all got really nervous when it was time for the prize presentation of the Best Actress award. When her name (“瑞恩小姐”) was announced, I am sure all of us were just really happy, like really really really happy:)

The happiest moment has definitely got to be her holding the Best Actress award on stage:)
Her win for best actress was sweet.
Her win for best actress with the role of Hu Xiaoman made it even sweeter.

What: Star Awards 2013 Red Carpet

When: 28 April 2013

Where: Marina Bay Sands

Participant(s): Bengyan, Gloria, è‹—, Jean, Jiamin, Joanne, Junqi, May Yen, Phyllis, Ser Chee, Shirley, Squeen, Weijen, Xinyi

Jean, Priority Member:

Like any other events, it all started with queuing :) From eating breakfast on the ground to sitting on poles munching and chatting away. Hahahaha! Photo as proof :)

Down to work on the boards for the China fans after lunch, my most feared Chinese characters…. Doing it without a table was back-breaking and I really did thought of just lying completely flat on the ground to do it :P But wearing the t-shirt with the words “RBKD” on it, 还是不要比较好.. Hahahaha! Thank goodness for the help from May Yen, Joanne and Xin Yi, at least one board was completed :)

During the Red Carpet, the boards basically became the backdrop. Hahaha! As cameras were rolling everywhere, allllll~ the time, plus the fact that we were right behind the hosts.

I really wish to express my thanks to Elvinology :) Hahaha! They were beside us during Red Carpet and they offered us food, even though in the end I ate up most of it. HAHAHAHA! :P

Ser Chee, Priority Member:

This year, Rangels took shift to queue overnight and indeed, our efforts weren’t wasted. We managed to get a strategic position. We were basically the backdrop of most of the media photos in the core interview area. To be honest, the feeling of seeing our boards dominating behind in the photos was quite good :p

The need to catch the camera, while trying to hide our faces, handling random pushes from behind, while still having to cheer, I believe all these required some skills too. Hahaha.. But well, I believe Rangels did it well, for we were heard and seen. Good job Rangels!

I have enjoyed myself, I believe those who were there enjoyed themselves too. And this time round, we have both China and Malaysia fans with us, which makes everything more special.

With our shy China fans behind the board.

What: Star Awards 2013 Ceremony 1

When: 21 April 2013

Where: MediaCorp Singapore

Participant(s): Candice, Eunice, Jiamin, Joanne, Junqi, Kahyin, Ser Chee, Xinyi, Yue Chang, Zhiqing

Junqi, Priority Member:

It wasn’t my first time at a live show, though it was still interesting seeing how it’s being produced and broadcasted. I really like how the fans would shout so randomly to their idols during commercial breaks haha :P

“The road to success comes through hard work, determination, and sacrifice.”

When CLP called her 最火搭档 during the most anticipated segment of the show (Favourite Female Character Award), I can’t even describe that feeling. Excitement, joy, relief, gratitude. Everyone went crazy, cheering and hi-fiving each other. So glad that after weeks and weeks of voting, our efforts finally paid off :D

Zhiqing, Priority Member:

This year is my first time attending the Star Awards Night 1. It was really an eye-opening experience for me, for it was my first time going to a live show. And what’s more? It was for supporting Rui En! :) I’m really glad to be given the opportunity to attend. Thanks RBKD!

Most of the Rangels were already there by the time I reached and were busy stabilizing the fan boards as well as doing other behind-the-scene stuff so as to ensure that we’re all well-prepared for the Award Ceremony.

During the Award Ceremony, we cheered as loud as we could whenever dramas that Rui En starred in were nominated. Nervous and praying hard before the Favourite Onscreen Couple & Favourite Female Character results were announced. With cheers, smiles and jumping with joy were us when we heard “最火搭档 瑞恩”.

It was a really great experience for me and heart-warming to know that two months of hard work finally paid off, and to be able to witness the Award Ceremony live, it made the whole experience even more priceless and memorable. :)

What: C.L.I.F 2 Premiere

When: 16 February 2013

Where: Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre

Participant(s): Bengyan, Bi Hui, Candice, Catherine, Celest & Mum, Clarence, Eunice, Geok Yeng, Jasmine, Jean, Jia Min, Joanne, Jolie, Jun Yee, Kah Yin, Lionel, May Yen & kid, Melissa, Phyllis, Regin, Sandra, Ser Chee, Shirley, Shu Pei, Shu Wen, Xinyi, Vanessa, Yan Ling, Yan Jun, Yeeling, Ying Mei, Yue Chang, Yvonne and Zhiqing

Vanessa, Participant:

This was my first time attending an event like this. At start, I was curious how it would be like. Upon reaching there, I found it kinda cool because of all the police standing almost everywhere. It’s not an everyday occurrence where you can see that number of policemen in one place.

It was such a great experience to watch the preview and the 1st episode of the drama on the big screen. Can’t help but smiling every time our idol appears on the screen, it made me even more excited toward its actual airing on TV. I’m sure many of us also shared the same sentiment.

I definitely enjoyed the premiere of C.L.I.F. 2 and felt so lucky to have a chance like that. Many Thanks to the SPF for all your efforts – in not only the filming of C.L.I.F. 1 & 2 as well as protecting the country as a whole.

Ying Mei, Participant:

I’m glad I had the chance to watch C.L.I.F.2’s special preview and first episode on a large screen (like in a cinema) and definitely, it felt so different as compared to watching the show on our tv.

Everyone was happily anticipating the start of the premiere and it didn’t disappoint at all as the show was rather fast-paced and very thrilling. Also, Rui En’s character, Zhi Jie was sooooo cute especially in the first episode! I hope there’ll be more opportunities like this where we can watch dramas’ premieres on a large screen and I’m sure everyone who went had an unforgettable experience. :D
