RBKD Annual Summer Chalet 2009 – Our Say!

What: RBKD Annual Summer Chalet 2009

When: 12 – 14 June 2009

Where: HomeTeamNS Pasir Ris Chalet

Organiser(s): Shirley & Xinyi

Shirley, Organiser:

“Will they eat this? Or do they prefer that? This amount enough…,” there’s a whole lot of questions thrown on and off the virtual net. Excited? Not really. It’s pretty much on whether the attendees feel at home. Surprisingly, breaking the ice was much easier than charcoal-war-against-the-sudden-rain!

‘DON’T FORGET HER LYRICS’ 2009!
Fact checked: Need no judges, just have FUN.

‘PAJAMAS NIGHT’ 2009!
Fact checked: Isn’t this the FIRST meet?

‘’ZIXIN♥YUHANG; BUQUN♥YUHANG’ SHOW 2009!
Fact checked: Laughter & Applauses.

Never mind the shortest powernap in a room filled with the loudest ‘Heart aaaaattACK!’ shoutings.
Because everything overridden the tiredness (:

Squeen, 3D2N Participant, JB Malaysia:

Xianli, 3D2N Participant, Singapore:

“Don’t forget her lyrics”, made me nervous and forgot her lyrics. We were grouped and we had a competition. Before the game start, some people actually lock themselves in a room doing “revision”. Look at how hardworking they were. Majority of us were dressed in pyjamas during the first night. Its was named “Pyjamas Night”. And we had photography session in pyjamas! The pose we all had was very funny, i even laughed out loudly while browsing through them.

Smoke! Fire! Charcoals! And foods! BBQ time! Yummy delicious foods were barbecued by some of us. It can be quite boring if you are eating alone, so why not make some friends!

I was shocked when I saw a familiar face with my naked eyes as that face is always virtually seen. And the funny thing is that i dreamt that Rui En will turn up and she really did. When a “rare flower” is seen, “bees” with photography skills were all attracted to it. Capturing the precious image of the rarely seen flower. We had talent time show, it was hilariously acted by our RBKD actresses. I shall comment, that night was the best part of the chalet.

In overall, the chalet worth my time. Not because Rui En turned up, but because I had new friends!

Miaoting, BBQ Participant, Singapore:

One of the most memorable events I’ve attended would be the RBKD Summer Chalet. As I was there only for the BBQ, I felt a little awkward when I first reached because there were many unfamiliar faces around and it was rather tough to strike up a conversation. However, in just that short span of four hours, I got to know many people from the fanclub and the barrier between these people and me were broken. I always thought that it is really amazing to know that a group of strangers could actually relate so well. I guess it’s the common interest in us that connected us all.

Kahyin, BBQ Participant, Singapore:

One of my favourite IPC was the BBQ. I wanted to attend both the chalet and BBQ as I really hope to know more friends but my parent only allowed me to go for the BBQ.

During the barbecuing, I still get to know some new friends and we had a great time chatting too. The food prepared were awesome, especially the pork chop. Of course, the appearance of Rui En really surprised me as I did not have any high hopes that she will be coming. It was really a fun, hilarious and surprising day and I’m looking forward to the next chalet which I hope I will be able to attend.

Lionel, PJs night Participant, Singapore:

11 June was a memorable night for RBKD. It was the first night of our Summer Chalet for the year. To say the truth, I was quite apprehensive when I reached the place. There are many people whom I do not know and as the only male at the chalet, it is just get awkward. Besides, it was only my second IPC in as many weeks!

Yet, all that nervousness and reservations were gone when we started our first activity of the night – Don’t forget her lyrics. (Who else but hers?) A total of 27 songs, compilation of both English and Chinese songs by our dearest idol. We are divided into four teams, and each team has to send 2 members each round. Most of us had a go at the game, and I personally do not fare very well in this session and had let my partner down. It was embarrassing, and a new member has no excuses for not knowing the songs. The interesting part of this session will have to go to a certain prominent member who gladly performed for us the song ‘Qing Wa’, which comes complete with our idol’s dance moves, waving for the camera and us laughing out loud. Microphone was included as well, in the form of a bottle.

After the game, it was finally time for the long awaited (or dreaded) pyjamas night. Everyone donned their pyjamas for photo-taking posing for the camera. Different shots were taken, with each member contributing their own quirky ideas for the photo shoot. Thanks (or no thanks) to the H1N1 scare, we have facial mask around and they were put to good use (other than covering the nose and mouth) for the photo! Crazy, scary and nonsensical are some of the words which you can use to describe the pictures taken!

When the hype dies down, we started to have a truth or dare session with all the participants. We had lots of fun, with just a spinning marker pen placed on the floor, deciding whose turn is it to share their unknown trivia or dare the daredevil. We have interesting ‘dares’ like kiss someone, kiss the door knob and reacting of a drama scene! And of course, we have the truth questions like ‘What would you do if you only have a day to live?’ and unthinkable questions like ‘how would you propose to our idol Rui En?’

Alas, all good things come to an end, and we need rest, so as to get ready for more fun on the second day – the BBQ night. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to stay on as I have to work and thus missed the BBQ. It was indeed a fun and memorable experience for me! I couldn’t ask for more. (I can ask, but I shall be contended with just this). And this is only the 1st RBKD chalet for me. I believe there are more great events to come, and to all new members who are apprehensive about joining without knowing anyone here – I joined the club alone, and now, I am no longer a stranger in the club.
