Food Distribution @ Redhill 89 – Our Say!

What: Food Distribution @ Redhill 89

When: 17 October 2009

Where: Block 89 Redhill Close

Description:
On 17 October, RBKD accepted the invitation from Apex Club (Bukit Timah) to its weekly food distribution project at Block 89, Redhill Close for a better understanding of the program.

The 7 members ended up volunteering their services and got involved in the process of distribution and home deliveries. It was an eye-opener for members who have never seen one-room flats except on TV screens.

The most rewarding experience had to be the sight of the elderlies squatting at a corner of the void deck, happily munching on their freshly delivered fruits. That was certainly, priceless.

Jean, Participant:

Initially it was just a trip down to have a glimpse at how things were done but little did I expect that we ended up volunteering our services for the day. For me, the time spent to just help pack, distribute and send the food to the doorsteps of the old folk’s homes was definitely something refreshing for me.

Though interaction between the volunteers and old folks was lesser than what I have initially thought but nevertheless it was still a fruitful experience. This time round, it is just another way of helping the less fortunate by ensuring that they are able to have food at their table for every meal.
