Since airing on various Chinese websites, Singaporean drama “C.L.I.F 2”, witnessed an increase in viewership in mainland China and subsequently broke the record on various websites.
As reported on Asianpopnews website, the drama, starring Qi Yuwu, Li Nanxing, Thomas Ong, Rui En and Joanne Peh, is a sequel to the “C.L.I.F” series that was aired back in 2011.
It became the second most watched drama in Singapore that year after receiving rave reviews for its realistic depiction of the struggles faced by police officers as well as the challenges they faced in their personal lives.
Meanwhile, the sequel added more twists into the criminal cases, and shed more light into the investigation of crime scenes.
C.L.I.F 2 è¦å¾½å¤©èŒ 2 is now airing on Channel 8, Weekdays at 9pm.

They are young, pretty and talented.
Julie Tan and Jayley Woo are going places with two local movies and several television dramas piled on their increasingly plates.
But now there is talk that these former New Paper New Face contestants, both 21, are rivals on their way up in the entertainment industry.
Like fellow MediaCorp stars Fann Wong and Zoe Tay or Rui En and Jeanette Aw, speculation abounds that these two fresh-faced actresses are “not friends, just colleagues”.

Bravo to the spot-on pairings on C.L.I.F. 2 (weeknights, Ch 8; Catch-up TV).
The best complement to a well-thought out, fast-paced plot is a strong cast with sizzling onscreen chemistry. Who would’ve guessed that Joanne Peh and Thomas Ong could strike up such a fun and believeable romance? We also like the way Qi Yuwu and Joanne play off each other. More interestingly, the unlikely December-May match-up of Rui En and Li Nanxing is surprisingly palatable. In fact, Nanxing’s affable character is the perfect fit for the rather detached Rui En, and we can’t help but root for them to get together soon. This is just what we need to get over the awkward pairing of Elvin Ng and Julie Tan on It’s a Wonderful Life. Take note, producers.

Something has gone to the head of Channel 8 crime drama C.L.I.F. 2. It’s romance, I’m afraid.
In some parts, the show is like its old self, wielding its police credentials proudly. An early episode has a multitude of officers shutting down a mall to stop a young lone gunman: such a multitude, it looks like a massive Zhang Yimou production, just the thing to warm the hearts of Chinese nationals in Singapore, perhaps.
Later, there is a sly bit about the benefit of traffic fines: Sometimes, if you are a homicide suspect, a speeding ticket may serve as your alibi. Aren’t you thankful for the traffic police?
In other parts, however, the drama is getting unnecessarily soapy.
Now, Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu are fine actors and make a cute police couple. But dragging them (as well as Rui En and Li Nanxing as police officers) through humdrum relationship problems to perk up a nation-building police show feels excessive.

Love is complicated for Li Nanxing and Rui En (both above) in police drama C.L.I.F. 2.

2012 was a good year for MediaCorp’s television channels. Many programmes attracted record-breaking viewership figures, with several attaining a reach of well over 500,000.
Don’t Stop Believin’ topped Ch8’s list of 9pm dramas with a staggering 918,000-strong average viewership.
Trailing behind at an extremely close second was similarly star-studded blockbuster It Takes Two with 912,000 views, followed by the period series Joys of Life with 875,000 views.
Several of these dramas achieved immense popularity in the cyber world too – Game Plan and Joys of Life attracted over 1 million clicks on our very own xinmsn Catch-up TV.
Despite bagging numerous Star Awards nominations, Unriddle 2, Poetic Justice and Pillow Talk only managed average views of less than 820,000, earning the 8th, 9th and 10th spots respectively.
