If there’s one thing the stars should really appreciate about having two consecutive Star Awards shows in April, it’s that the ones who bombed on the red carpet during Show 1 have a chance to redeem themselves during Show 2.
Rui En
Are Dior dresses the good luck charm of this year’s awards season? Just as Jennifer Lawrence took to the stage to receive her Oscar in a wedding-esque gown from the French fashion house, Rui En collected her Best Actress and Top 10 trophies in a ravishing plum stunner from Dior (and honestly – we think Rui En’s triumphs over J-Law’s by a mile). Did you guys see how that divine skirt billowed as she walked? Breathtaking.
Verdict: HOT

Remembering Big Brother
By Jonathan Fam, Sarah Chang & Tan Yi Hui
In the eyes of his showbiz peers, Huang Wenyong was a father, a brother, an aspiring pop idol, a comedian, a walking encyclopaedia, and then some. Sixteen stars share with us their personal memories of the man everyone called Wenyong da ge (big brother).
Rui En: “He always told us about the best hawker food in Singapore wherever we were filming. He was like a one-man hawker expert.”
Stormy Starry night
How do you throw a party for the family when your big brother just died? You don’t. Which why was bright outfit were toned down, the madcap skits were a pale shadow of last year’s ROMFL version, and a sense of solemnity pervaded the night. But there were still gems to be found in the subdued evening. Bryan Wong picked on someone not his own size, many a host was roasted in the making of this show, and ice queen Rui En actually flashed more teeth than new couple QiPeh. All in all, we were still left wanting.
So what is Elvin implying?
Rui En, who also won the Favourite Female Character award, admits it’s a mystery why everyone likes seeing her and Elvin Ng together…on TV. The duo won Favourite On-screen couple again this year. A cheeky Elvin announced backstage, much to the horror of his co-star: “Since everyone likes seeing us together, Rui En and I also have an announcement to make…Just kidding lah!” Did we mention that Rui En looked horrified?

Rui En, B+
Next year, maybe she’ll try short and sassy?
For someone who used to wear only black, second-time Best Actress winner Rui En has been going on a colour explosion the past two weeks, donning a siren-red dress (for Show 1) and this deep purple gown, both from Christian Dior. “It was an intentional effort to add more colours in my outfit this year,” she tells us. Is it mean to say we were quite amused by how she seemed to be wrestling with the big tulle the whole night?

Fan’s choice Rui En and a suave Tay Ping Hui do the red carpet walk together – we wish she’d smile a little – it would be the best accessory of all.

The Star Awards honoured the best in Singapore’s Chinese television industry Sunday, as the stars arrived at the Marina Bay Sands resplendent in their Sunday best. From flowy gowns to confusing bustiers, here is our take on who scored big on the red carpet and who should have packed their bags and fled the scene of crime.
HIT
Rui En
Rui En was every bit the princess in this plum Dior gown, with a sheer-panel top, a bodice fitted to her body and a skirt that balloons out with just the right amount of flounce. She looked amazing as she walked down the red carpet, with her dress gliding along. Here is why Rui En is always a winner in the style books: she doesn’t try too hard but knows when to be stylish. Take her beauty look, for example: a high bun keeps her face

Rui En in Christian Dior Resort 2013 for Star Awards 2013 Show 1.
This year’s Star Awards was yet another star-studded event not to be missed. With celebrities donning outfits from the hottest brands straight off the runway, to outfits designed by our very own talented local designers.
For Show 1, Best Female Actress Rui En turned up in a red halter-neck dress from Christian Dior’s Resort 2013 Collection, which clearly made her appear classy and sophisticated. When interviewed and asked why she had a Black Jacket on, Rui En then mentioned that it was in respect to the late Huang Wenyong. Rui En’s outfit had been pre-selected some time back, and it was impossible to find a replacement for the event in such a short notice, so she decided to wear a Black Jacket over.
For Show 2, Rui En turned up in a gorgeous Sheer Purple Gown from Christian Dior’s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Rui En was all dolled up and looked like she had just stepped off the Christian Dior runway! On another note, Rui En did mention that this dress was a little too long for her and had difficulties walking in it. Maybe a shorter dress next year?

Shaun Chen, like Jeanette Aw, ditches his boy-next-door image to play the Head of Artiste Liaison Unit.
A product of Singapore’s elite system, Du Zhan Peng (Shaun) has never tasted failure before and goes all out to chase Tong Lin (RE). Will his persistence touch Tong Lin? Or will his efforts be in vain?
