Rui En swept the online awards at last week’s Star Awards Show 1 with two triumphant wins in the Favourite Female Character and Favourite On-Screen Couple categories. And last night, the actress added two new trophies to her mantelpiece: Best Actress and her 8th Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste award.
While both awards hold equal weight and importance in the actress’ eyes, she was particularly delighted to bring home Best Actress – for the second time—for her turn as Hu Xiaoman in Unriddle 2. Beaming ear to ear as she called Xiaoman her “favourite character throughout my entire showbiz career†and one that “means a lot†in her backstage interview with xinmsn, Rui En also thanked her onscreen partner, Chen Liping, for her support and guidance in the show.
“She taught me a lot during the filming of this show. Unriddle 2 is a very emotionally heavy show and we’d encourage each other on set and even crack jokes amongst ourselves to relax. I’m really appreciative of what she has done because without her, all of us wouldn’t be able to do a good job in this show,†she said.
Rui En also gave a shoutout to fellow Best Actress nominee Cynthia Koh, dubbed one of the hot favourites for her role in Show Hand, and said, “Cynthia did a really good job too. I’d like to tell her to keep working hard. This award should be shared with everyone [Best Actress nominees] because all of us put in efforts to bring our onscreen characters to life.â€

In ZZSF, Jeanette plays Zhao Fei Er, an aspiring starlet whose values get corrupted by the evils and temptations of the entertainment industry. In her quest to fame, she meets Fang Tong Lin (played by RE) – variety show producer cum host-turned-actress. The pair is managed under the same company (HYPE), but this is their first time working together.
Of course, JA is not the only one getting an entirely different role. RE shelves her usual tough chick onscreen persona and transforms into *gasp* an affable and chatty director with a goofy personality! To add a personal touch, RE got colourful accessories and small soft toys to illustrate the bubbly nature of Tong Lin.
Tong Lin shoots to fame after guest starring on a variety show. This is where the competition heats up as Fei Er and Tong Lin vie to become the TV station’s number 1 star!
As if one competition is not enough, Fei Er and Tong Lin get entangled in a love triangle with Jason (Qi Yu Wu), a director working in the station. Who will Jason choose in the end? Stay tuned to ‘The Dream Makers’ 《志在四方》, coming to you 24 June 2013, on Channel 8.

He was a nobody.
Before he formally entered showbiz in Star Search 10, and shot to fame after starring in hit shows like “Don’t Stop Believin’†as well as “Joys of Lifeâ€, Romeo Tan was a nobody.
He was what industry people call a ‘calefare’, an extra.
However, things gradually improved after he appeared in his first Mandarin drama “Portrait of Home IIâ€, and started getting bigger roles.
In just a few short years, he has garnered legions of fans, and had managed to snag an endorsement deal.
He is also involved in a myriad of projects, from MediaCorp’s first-ever cross-media drama “96C Café†which airs on April 29, to the upcoming drama “Sudden†alongside top actress Rui En.
