Singapore celebrity Rui En joins the ranks of Gong Li and Fan Bing Bing as the new face of L’Oreal Paris Youth Code
You’ve seen her as a police officer, a news anchor, and a spoilt brat, now look out for Rui En’s new role as the latest face of L’Oreal Paris Youth Code.
Joining the ranks of international stars like Gong Li, Li Bingbing and Fan Bingbing in fronting the campaign, the self-confessed skincare fanatic said: “I actually picked up the Youth Code Boosting Essence in the drugstore before this campaign was even conceptualised, tried it and liked the product. Then L’Oreal approached me for this campaign so I accepted; I think there’s some fate involved too.â€
The recently-crowned Best Actress at the 2013 Star Awards went on to say, “I’m always tempted to try new skincare products, so it becomes important that my skin is able to absorb the full benefits of all these treatments. Youth Code helps me achieve that.â€
Said to double the efficacy of daily skincare when used before your serum and moisturiser, the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Boosting Essence also has gentle exfoliating properties to help prep skin to absorb active ingredients from your beauty products better.
So will you really achieve flawless and radiant complexion like Rui En’s with Youth Code? You’ll have to take the her word for it; she shares her beauty secret: “I use a sheet mask every night when I’m filming and realised that it makes the treatment much more effective when I apply Youth Code under it. â€

More than just fashion shows — we check out what else to put on your must-do list for Audi Fashion Festival 2013
1. Celebrity-watch and gawk at the most outrageous fashion getups.
We might have neither Anna Wintour nor a bevy of Hollywood A-listers gracing the front rows of the fashion shows, but fashion festivals are nevertheless a chance for the rich and the famous (and quasi-famous) to make an appearance in all of their sartorial glory.
Besides designers Mrs Herrera and Carolina Herrera de Baez, Tsumori Chisato, and Hussein Chalayan who will present their respective shows in person, expect also appearances by local celebrities like Fann Wong and Rui En for Zardoze, and Victoria’s Secret supermodel Erin Heatherton, who will open Raoul’s A/W 2013 show.

This June, wushu champion and ex-MediaCorp actor Vincent Ng makes his first drama appearance since 2009’s The Scarlet Kid in Ch8’s The Dream Makers. While speaking to xinmsn between takes during filming at the Star Vista, he told us that this was a project he took on for fun and as a favour to old friends.
“Some ex-colleagues called me up at the last minute and I thought, ‘Sure, why not come back and have some fun?’†he said, adding that he’s had a great time catching up with his former co-workers, including Rui En, whom he appeared with in My Mighty-in-Laws.

Acting may still be her passion and one true love, but with a renewed purpose and mantra in life, Cynthia Koh prefers to take things easy – and in the slow lane – now. That might explain why the actress, who renewed her two-year contract with MediaCorp in October last year, only appeared in two projects in 2012 – ChU’s Show Hand and online mini-series, The Day It Rained On Our Parade, which is a stark contrast to her past years’ projects.
When we brought up her recent Best Actress loss to Rui En, she waved it off and gave a good-natured laugh at the mention of being the hot favourite in our mini predictions. “You all must be more disappointed than me,†she chuckled. “Oh dear, I’m sorry.â€
Not taking her loss to heart, Cynthia conceded that Rui En was her strongest competitor that night and let on that she was prepared to walk home empty handed.
“I told myself I’d still continue working hard [even if I lost]. So thanks, Rui En for encouraging Mei Zhen jie (referring to herself). I know a lot of friends in showbiz, in the media and fans are very supportive towards me too,†she quipped. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m in showbiz, there’d always be a chance for me.â€

Working the red carpet isn’t just about vying for the Best Dressed title. It’s about friendship too, okay – especially if you’re Rui En.
Cutest PDA: Rui En and Chen Liping
Reunited and it feels so good: What you didn’t see on TV was how Tay Ping Hui was relegated to the third wheel when his Mercedes co-passenger Rui En couldn’t wait to reunite with BFF Chen Liping on the red carpet before the cameras rolled. Aww.

The Look
The sultry dewy-faced Queen
Get the look with: Smoky eyes, heavy eyeliner and a dewy complexion
The heavily-kohled eye works for Rui En, and she knows it. This year, besides the wing-tipped peepers and duty-heavy mascara, the ice-queen decided to add a little sparkle to her non-smile with highlights of gold eyeshadow, which gave her a nice glow. Her hair, while pulled back into a bun, wasn’t too severe. While we like that she went for a natural, dewy face, we can’t help thinking it was a tad too shiny. Well, at least it matched the gleam of the two trophies she bagged that night.

The up-and-comers explore a brand new side of themselves in The Dream Makers

You’ve seen Ian Fang get into fights, cross-dress as a girl, and break hearts with emotional bawling scenes, but have you ever seen the Star Awards 2013 Best Newcomer bust a dance move? In The Dream Makers, you will.
While Ian appeared more confident about his dance scenes, his co-star Jayley Woo confessed that she wasn’t as self-assured.
In addition to this fresh-faced twosome, the drama also stars Best Actress Rui En. Viewers will get to see her break away from her usual no-nonsense roles to portray a cute and quirky rookie director-turned-variety star, which she found extremely enjoyable to play.
“This role is the most fun of my career so far,†she declared. “I’ve had tons of space to be as comedic as I dare to go.†For instance, when her character’s variety show co-host (played by veteran actor Chen Hanwei) advises her to pretend the camera is her crush to soothe her stage fright, she pictures her object of affection (played by Qi Yuwu) blowing kisses at her – something we’d imagine warrants a laugh-out-loud moment!
She’s also been very happy and comfortable with all her onscreen pairings. “Whether it’s Yuwu, Shaun Chen, or Jeanette Aw, we all work very well together.â€
This won’t be the last time Rui En, Ian and Jayley appear in the same series together. After filming for The Dream Makers wraps, they’ll embark on another production called Sudden. Rui En and Ian will both play lawyers, while Jayley will act as a celebrity dealing with contract issues.

Stars who won big at the Star Awards share their thoughts and thank-yous with Yahoo! Singapore.
Best Actress recipient Rui En, whose voice was hoarse from all the thank-yous, was surprisingly candid, admitting that she had suffered from some depression after filming a particularly dark role last year.
“For me, to get the award, is the best reward,” said Rui En.
Chirpy, girly up and coming hot favourite Rebecca Lim said that while some of her fans were disappointed that she had lost out on Best Actress to Rui En, she was not.
