Not an adaption of Charles Dickens’ lit classic (though that would’ve be interesting too), but a drama seri.al about four girls in KL and Singapore (Joanne Peh, Rui En, Zhu Mimi and newcomer Kate Pang) searching for the meaning of happiness, which may or may not involve shopping.

April: The In-Laws

Rui En and Cynthia Koh are sisters-in-law at war with each other and with their mum-in-law (Hong Kong’s Li Siqi). Pierre Png and Darren Lim are the men caught in the crossfire.

SINGAPORE : MediaCorp’s entertainment-and-lifestyle magazine 8 Days is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a photo exhibition and auction.

The event is being held at Nex, the mall in Serangoon Central.

If you have always wanted some of those fancy photos from 8 Days to grace your walls, now is your chance.

More than 200 of the shots from over 20 years of the publication’s history are now up for auction.

Proceeds will go to the Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School, MediaCorp’s adopted charity.

The exhibition cum auction is on till December 31.

Page 112

BOO to Rui En’s ‘try-too-hard’ performance as a police inspector in Unriddle (weekdays, Ch 8). From her ‘I-have-to-act-cool’ posturing (is she channelling David Caruso in CSI: Miami?) to her unintentionally funny exchange with snitch Chen Liping, she’s an easy target for ridicule.

Don’t get us wrong: Rui En makes for a great action heroine, but sometimes the writers can’t seem to decide if she’s Dirty Harriet or Inspector Clouseau. Because if she’s a super-cop, why is it that she get bamboozled by the bad guys like every 10 minutes?
