1. Continuum – John Mayer
If there ever was an album that came close to being the soundtrack to my life, this is it.

2. 我要快樂? – 張惠妹

She could sing a rubbish song, and I’d still adore it, for me, it’s her voice and the way she feels everything so INTENSELY, that moves me very, very much. I was very embarassingly and literally in tears in my seat at her concert here last year. I like all of her albums but I really liked the overall production and sound of this one, a lot more acoustic. It also contains one of my all-time favorite A Mei songs, “Hostage”.

3. 將愛 – 王菲

Very hard to pick my favorite of all her albums, though I do much prefer her later work, the last few albums before she retired. However, I just had to pick this one because it has the song “旋木” which resonates very much with me, you guys go figure out why :)

4. Indigo Girls – Indigo Girls

Probably one of their most acessible/”commercial” albums. Their lyrics have helped me through many a dark night. Their lyrics are poetry.

5. Taking The Long Way – Dixie Chicks

Music is about escape, no? Listening to this album, I can close my eyes and imagine that I’m on vacation, far far away from here. And. I’ve always had the tendency to take the longer way around.

If you are a Temasek Poly student and will be in school this Friday (23 Jan) afternoon, make haste and waste no time in hopping over to Temasek Engineering School cos the entire cast of “The Dream-catchers” will be present at a press conference held in this building to promote “The Dream-catchers”!

Who’ll be there:
Jesseca Liu, Rui En, Tay Ping Hui, Shaun Chen, Elvin Ng, Dawn Yeoh, Nat Ho, Paige Chua, Zhang Zhen Huan, Eelyn Kok, Lin Mei Jiao, Liu Qian Yi

Where will they be:
Temasek Engineering School, Temasek Poly (we heard the press con will be held at Blk 33, Level 3 somewhere) ~ students will not be admitted into the press con but hey, you guys can hang around outside to catch a glimpse of them woh…

When will they be there:
Friday 23 Jan, somewhere between 12 noon – 5pm

So gather all like-minded friends and classmates and see you there!

从来没有庆生习惯的瑞恩，今年首次提前在1月23日与粉丝们一起庆祝28岁的生日。生日会 的主题以瑞恩新专辑中的第三波主打歌“穿反”而设。配合主题，粉丝都故意将衣服穿反出席，还特地为偶像群体演唱歌曲。瑞恩也透露，妈妈有希望她能早日成家 的意思，但她却示意，或许永远都不会结婚！

《穿反》的歌词出自瑞恩手笔，提倡活出自我风格的生活态度：“越是想把自己伪装得像理想中的完美标准，越是把不自然及虚伪一一披露。其实只要舒服，即使衣服穿反了，也照样能走出时尚流行。”

为了响应瑞恩一贯的作风——自然、原始、诚实——歌迷们将衣服穿反，并选择未经排练就上场的方式，创意呈现了《穿反》这首歌曲。

瑞恩说，“对一些朋友来说可能上台唱歌没有什么大不了的，但是我的fans是属于比较害羞的，所以这个东西对他们来讲，我知道是比较困难。我没有想过一群朋友可以那么地支持我、那么爱我，其实我的付出就是给你们戏看，给你们歌听，没什么大不了的。所以在这里想说谢谢。”

生日和新年一样，瑞恩没有特别庆祝的方式，也未曾度过非常特别的生日。“平时就和家人吃饭。其实很闷，真的很闷。我的生活是很闷的，就没有什么特别的。我的生日都过得比较平淡，没有特别去庆祝。我就把它当成是一个平常的一天。”

今天（29日）正式过28岁生日的瑞恩坦诚妈妈在她的终身大事上，有点施加压力，但是她却不以为然。“其实觉得没有什么必要，为了做而做，就顺其自然。如果真的没有遇到一个适合我的对象，我觉得没有那个必要去结婚。”

瑞恩说，她一直非常想尝试内心戏较重、另类、深沉的角色，但是或许暂时机会还没到。二月复工后，瑞恩将全心投入新戏《书包太重》的拍摄，饰演一名华文老师，对她来说依然意义非凡。

她说，“大家都知道我之前有考过F9，就是在莱佛士初院时期。在RJ是没有F9的，所以这次觉得还蛮特别的。其实我觉得我还蛮喜欢当老师的；已经 拍了三天，就觉得还蛮舒服的。我有问导演是不是应该注重咬字，但是他都觉得OK。他说如果我特意去管这个东西，可能出来的东西会很假。”

Rui En, actress/singer, 28

Claim to F(l)ame: Known as a non-conformist who is fiercely private about her personal life, Rui En made heads turn when she finally dropped her ice-queen exterior and opened up in The Monday Interview series of ST Life! in December.

The Story So Far: The confessional interview turned out to be a surprise.

More so because Rui En has gained a reputation for being cool and nonchalant.

She had been garnering rave reviews over the last two years for her acting, mostly in roles of strong, intense female characters, like a feisty cop in Metamorphosis and a selfless HIV patient in By My Side.

But fans knew little about her. Until the interview.

She spoke about her parents’ divorce, her ‘periods of delinquency’ when she dabbled with cigarettes and alcohol, the insecurity and emptiness that led to her hunger for fame and how she hated herself back then.

And ‘what touched me completely was the heartfelt response from readers and fans’ after the interview was published.

She said: ‘It crossed my mind that I’d be nominated for being honest, so this is something refreshing!

‘And of course, it feels great!’

Rui En does not rate her chances of winning Babe of The Year high at all.

‘I think this will be The Little Nyonya year,’ she said.

We certainly dig her candidness.

Next Change: Rui En stars as a bubbly and spunky aircraft engineer in the upcoming Channel 8 drama series The Dream-catchers, which opens on 4 Feb.
