Taiwanese singer A-Lin calls herself a fan of Rui En’s “sweet yet tough voice”

RBKD: Toggle interviewed Taiwanese pop singer A-Lin when she was in town for the Starker Music Carnival 2017 last weekend. Besides her own songs, A-Lin also performed her rendition of ‘Hate It’, which was originally sung by Rui En in 2002.

According to Toggle, A-Lin also revealed that she had admired Rui En’s since the latter’s singing debut, praising Rui En’s “sweet yet tough voice”. She also shared with Toggle why she chose this song (read this on Toggle).

Although the two parties have not met, A-Lin said that she would “continue to support Rui En” even if Rui En’s current career focus is on acting instead of singing.

“天生歌姬”A-Lin表示欣赏本地花旦瑞恩的甜美嗓音，坦言不希望女儿像以前的她荒废学业。

RBKD: 台湾“天生歌姬”A-Lin（黄丽玲）上周末访新为Stärker音乐嘉年华唱足一小时。除了演唱自己的歌曲，A-Lin也特别选唱本地花旦瑞恩的歌曲《讨厌》。

A-Lin之前参与中国音乐电视节目《蒙面唱将猜猜猜》就选唱了瑞恩的这首歌，当时也有粉丝第一时间通知RBKD上微博观看，因为Youtube 还没上载。

日前A-Lin接受Toggle专访时不禁大赞：“她(瑞恩)的歌声很甜美，也很tough但是不失女生的性感。”

两人私下没见过面，但A-Lin知道瑞恩是以歌手身份出道，“现在转换跑道，是很棒的演员”。

这次访新选唱《讨厌》，A-Lin说：“这首歌的旋律很好记，觉得女生本来就应该爱自己多一点。那时候听了这首歌，觉得很符合现在自己作为女生想要的感觉，就是比较自我。”

Rui En and Dennis Chew

Their friendship blossomed while filming the 2013 Channel 8 drama, The Dream Makers, where Dennis played Rui En’s older brother. They reprised their roles in the second instalment, which aired in 2015.

The two are so close, they even took a trip together to New Zealand. The actress planned and paid for a five day, four night trip to New Zealand to celebrate the 43rd birthday of the radio deejay.

More than two decades after it was launched, and just months after it comprehensively revamped its website, news and lifestyle aggregator AsiaOne is expected to shut down as early as next month.

AsiaOne is the primary content aggregator for SPH’s publications, featuring stories from the likes of The Straits Times and The New Paper, while also syndicating content from SPH magazines, such as Her World.

The news comes on the back of Wednesday’s announcement that SPH will be cutting 230 jobs by the end of the year, as part of a previously announced 10 per cent reduction in its work force.
