The veteran actress is set to play an undercover cop in Channel 8 drama Lost & Found.
After The Ultimatum, Zoe had only been involved with performances on the Ren Ci charity show, and cooking variety 3 Plus 1, which will air tonight.
During the studio recording for the programme, hosted by Taiwanese presenter Zeng Guocheng, Zoe told us her new TV role is “one that straddles the good and evil.†She will play a food stall owner who uses her wide-reaching contacts to aid the police, opposite a headstrong cop played by Rui En.

Remus’ comment on Rui En’s well-known abstinence from doing intimate scenes has apparently caused a rift between the two stars in an upcoming Ch 8 drama

With a title like Happy Family, all does not seem particular joyful between the two leads of Channel 8’s upcoming Lunar New Year drama.
And it seems it all came down to a comment Malaysian actor Remus Kam made about local starlet Rui En’s well-known ascetical stance on doing intimate scenes.
The 33-year-old only learnt about it when he touched down in Singapore to film the show and previously said in an interview that it wasn’t a pity he could not kiss the actress.
“It is not a big deal because my lips have been kissed by many other female stars,†he nonchalantly declared back then.
At the drama’s press conference at Meritus Mandarin last Wednesday, Remus reiterated the very same phrase.
But this time, his co-star was seated next to him, and Rui-En’s expression gave away the fact that his words had put her nose out of joint.
When the 29-year-old actress was later asked to comment in a separate interview, it was obvious her feathers had been ruffled.
“He said wrongly,†was her short but cold reply through a forced smile.
After a couple more probing from journalists, her inner PR machine finally relented. She rolled her eyes, and uttered curtly, “Not like I’m very excited to kiss him. Got better choices.â€
We figured she isn’t interested in kissing him anyway.
Throughout their solo interviews, both Rui-En and Remus gave contrary accounts of their filming experience together.
Remus cheekily revealed that he once faked that he was going to kiss Rui En during filming, and said that the actress was “shocked at that moment. She thought I was really going to kiss her.â€
Rui En, on the other hand, countered his remark by stating that she wasn’t shocked at all. “No lah, that did not happen. We both knew it beforehand.â€
Remus also admitted that they talked very little when the camera isn’t rolling but was also quick to correct himself (politically, that is) to dispel rumours that the two of them could not see eye-to-eye.
“What I meant was, the least kissed mouth is the most valuable, therefore mine is not,†he tried clarifying.
He even went as far to say that they had nothing to clear between each other.
Remus, who has starred in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore-Malaysia co-productions, is not new to controversy with his female counterparts. He was once linked romantically to sex icon and Taiwanese drama The Pawnshop No. 8’s co-star Tian Xin, who famously remarked his name is not fit to be placed beside hers.
We’re no prophets but we predict this might be the first and last time he and Caldecott Hill’s resident ice queen will star opposite each other.
In Happy Family, Rui En plays dimwitted Xiaodong, the foster granddaughter of Jianye (Chen Shucheng), who is estranged from his three children (Chen Tianwen, Darren Lim, Ann Kok). One day, a young Japanese man (Remus) appears, revealing himself to be the old man’s biological grandson. Together with Xiaodong, they set off to reunite the family.
The Lunar New Year serial comes after the success of Reunion Dinner a year ago. It also stars Pan Lingling and Cynthia Koh.

Hype Records artiste Rui En reverted to using her original name recently. Despite it being only a slight change in the Chinese character “Rui”, she felt more at eased than before.
Rui En, though known to many as a straightforward and opinionated artiste, seems to have her reservations too.
When she first entered the industry, her company in Taiwan gave her an artiste name; she did not like it, but neither did she voice out nor ask for the reason.
“Nothing special that happened that made me want to change back to my original name. I don’t know how to explain in words, it’s just an uncomfortable feeling towards my previous artiste name. I don’t feel that I’m being my natural self,” Rui En added, “I have never asked if they had seek a fortune teller’s advice when they decided to give me an artiste name, but I do not really believe in fortune telling, or to change names for better luck. I feel that being natural, being me is the best.”
Despite Rui En being more fluent in and comfortable with the English language, the company wanted her to start her singing career with Mandarin pop. Rui En agreed without expressing her own opinions and feelings at that point in time.
“Though I speak English most of the time, I have not considered singing any English songs yet. I think the English music industry in Singapore is very small,” Rui En explained.
She denied that commercial considerations stopped her from singing English songs.
“The company wanted me to sing Mandarin songs from the very start. That’s the way it is. But I do hope that I can record one or two English songs in the future.”
The 28 year-old artiste described herself as someone who “gives a very distant feeling”. Some adore her personality; others simply hate her for that aloof look.
While some artiste managers will take the extra effort to “package” their artistes and cover up the non-media-friendly side of their artistes, Rui En’s boss, Ken Lim, encouraged her to be her real self.
Rui En shared, “Ken has never had objections to anything. He has never said things like ‘we can’t be like that because of fans or public opinions. He gave me the courage to be who I really am. Going back to be one true self needs a lot of courage, especially in the entertainment industry. Everyone has already pre-determined an image or a certain personality for you.”
Rui En admitted that there are many different sides of her; most artistes portray a happy and bubbly image in front of the camera to create entertainment effects, but are actually quiet and solemn in their personal lives; Rui En is a complete opposite. In front of the media, she is like an “ice princess”; but tends to be more jovial when she is around her family members and friends.
Her latest album “United Nations” is a merger of both sides of her character.
“I believe that all of us will tend to behave differently in different situations or when we meet different people. I hope to bring all the different sides of myself and merge them into a “united nation”. I am bubbly in front of my family members and friends but I don’t find the need to give a fake reaction in front of the audiences,” Rui En said.
Recently, Rui En’s account in Facebook surfaced, surprisingly, and is open to public. She, who prides her personal life as highly private and confidential, explained that the account was set up in conjunction with a magazine’s promotional event; it is now purely an advertising tool and she does not have a private account separately.
“I was quite against the idea initially. However, I continued using it to thank my fans and provide them with updates on my work or album. But I would definitely not post up anything personal!” she exclaimed.

If you recall, local actress Rui En is also a singer who released her debut album “Rui En Vol.1” in 2002 with the hit single Bai Se Yu Mao. She rendered the song with a strong vocal just like her personality is. Having spent a few years fronting the camera, she is returning to the studio and the microphone, expressing her truest self through her songs.
In her new album, eight songs are penned by her; in which there are songs on her perception of love and relationships, attitude towards Singaporeans and also thoughts on travel. She laughs and comments that her varied themes were a result of the unclear and indefinite direction she had and basically wrote anything which popped to her mind. Rui En has been known to be reserved about sharing her personal life through the media so perhaps this album contains the most candid answers you may want about her.
Being English educated, writing Chinese lyrics is a great challenge for her. There were many thoughts to tell and emotions to express, but the initial words she penned do not reflect her actual thoughts. Describing the process seemed to have brought her back to relive the painful history. Fortunately, she managed to deliver what she wants in the end.
Despite these great efforts, Rui En has never thought of getting an award as recognition for her hard work. She says she does not pine for any awards; be it the Star Awards or the Hit Awards. To put in the best for her current jobs and taking things within her stride is what matters to her. She expresses satisfaction with her singing performance in ending theme song for drama “By My Side” as she spots a confident smile.
Rui En’s second album is scheduled to be released in November, when she will have to manage the promotional events and filming of a new drama. On the hectic schedule, she says: I’ll take it step by step.
