The latest round of updates for Star Awards 红星大奖 2011 Online Awards is out!

Elvin Ng 黄俊雄 as Zou Jie Ming 邹杰明 in Breakout 破天网 and Rui En 瑞恩 as Yang Xiao Dong 杨小冬 in Happy Family 过好年 have managed to remain in the top position in the Favourite Male and Female Characters 最喜爱男/女角色 categories respectively at the moment.

So, what’s with the header? So who are no longer the leads?

Jeanette Aw 欧萱 and Christopher Lee 李铭顺 (twice lucky for Chris!!) as Yang Nian Qing 杨念青 and Situ Dong Cheng 司徒东城 in Breakout 破天网 have lost out to Elvin Ng 黄俊雄 (twice lucky for Elvin too!) and Zhou Ying 周颖 as Zou Jie Ming 邹杰明 and Tang Ying 汤颖 in the same drama this week.

We’re into Week 2 of the Top 10 updates! Who’s in and who’s out for now? Let’s find out!

With Ann and Yi Fong’s entry into the chart this round, Kym Ng 鐘琴 and Pan Ling Ling 潘玲玲 are replaced but just temporarily. Newcomers to the Top 10 awards, Zhou Ying 周颖 and Tiffany Leong 梁丽芳 are still going strong while the 3 princesses are safely still on the chart. The situation changes each week so fans, you know what to do to keep your idols on the chart.

But like we said, anything can still happen leading to 24 April 2011 where the Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female Artistes 十大最受欢迎男/女艺人 will be crowned.

Here’s the full list of artistes leading in the 2nd round. The rankings are in no particular order. Public voting makes up 50% of the results, while the remaining 50% comes from the research survey done earlier.

Voting for Star Awards Online Awards has started since 1 March on xinmsn.com/starawards2011! This year, we’ve decided to reveal the nominee in the TOP leading position in his/her respective category every Monday all the way till 11 April 2011! Dark and darker horses abound in the 1st round of updates for the Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female Artistes!

It gets more interesting as we proceed to the list for the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes. This year could be the year of the dark horses for the ladies…

Like Dennis Chew, latecomer Lim Pei Fen also managed to make it to the 1st round of Top 10 leading names. Could deejays have more luck? Don’t forget they have the best of both worlds – fans from both TV and Radio,

Zhou Ying and Tiffany Leong, both first-timers to the Top 10 awards, have both made it to the list in this round. Despite not being Singaporean natives, the actresses have proved that they have their own group of supporters rooting for them. So stop saying “Who is Zhou1 Ying1?” and “Tiffany who?”. Don’t play play ah.

Kym Ng and Pan Ling Ling who missed out on a Top 10 award last year have bounced back with gusto to make it to this round’s list while Quan Yi Fong and Michelle Chia, who each won a Top 10 award last year, are visibly missing from the list. Yi Fong and Michelle’s fans are probably saving their ammo till the last minute. It’s still anybody’s game at this point.

What is it like having a famous daughter?

Regene: I love meeting with the actors, and getting to know them well. I would play iPhone games with Jeanette Aw and Fann Wong. I am friends with Tay Ping Hui, too, and he would teach me lessons on life manners. My sister loves Rui En, and I introduced them when she visited the set.

SINGAPORE: The list of nominees for the Star Awards Top 10 Most Popular Male/Female Artistes was unveiled during a press lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore on Thursday.

Fan favourites like Singapore actor Dai Yang Tian, Elvin Ng, Joanne Peh, Rui En and actress Jeanette Aw, all managed to earn a place on the nomination list.

While Ng, Peh, Aw and Rui En were also nominated in other categories at this year’s Star Awards, this is Dai’s only nomination so far, a fact that has sparked speculation that his star has dimmed.

Voting

The winners of the Top 10 Most Popular Artistes Award will be decided via telephone voting by the public and the results will be revealed ‘live’ during the “Star Awards 2011 Show 2” on April 24 on Channel 8.

The telepoll lines for the Top 10 Most Popular Male/Female Artistes will remain open till April 24, 9pm.

Each call costs S$0.80 (excluding GST) and callers bellow 18 years old must seek parental consent.

Mobile phone pre-paid card holders and overseas phone lines will not be able to call in their votes.

Princesses-in-Waiting Rise Through The Ranks To Become Bona Fide Princesses!

With the departure of princesses Felicia Chin and Jesseca Liu, Zhou Ying, Paige Chua, Eelyn Kok and Tiffany Leong now take their places as the new Princesses of Caldecott Hill, joining Jeanette Aw, Rui En and Joanne Peh. First time lucky? Maybe.

The Top 40 Most Popular Nominees were selected and chosen via a poll of around 1000 people (Ages 7 and above) conducted by a media research company. 50% of the votes came from the research survey, while the other 50% will come from public voting. The Top 40 nominees are now at our press conference to pick their telepoll numbers as you read this and we’ll update the telepoll numbers on this post shortly. Voting lines open today at 11am and will close 24 April, 9pm.

The results of the Top 40 will be revealed during the Star Awards 2011 Show 2, Sunday, 24 April, 7pm ‘LIVE’ on Channel 8.
