RBKD: Rui En won her tenth and final Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes award and will receive an All-Time Favourite Artistes award next year. She felt “a sense of relief” as her fans no longer have to vote for her in the future.
“I like my fans to save as much money as they can and I don’t like them to spend too much on voting. I am just very glad I’ve graduated and so have my fans. And I’m looking forward to a new phase in my life and my career,” said Rui En.
When asked to comment on the various reports about her facial expressions at past years’ Star Awards, Rui En said, “Unfortunately I was born with a face, which, when not smiling looks angry, angsty and ‘blackfaced’. The only way to get around this problem is to get plastic surgery to look like The Joker. My personality and my face gel together. I laugh when I feel like laughing and I don’t laugh when nothing is funny. And unfortunately, when I don’t laugh people misinterpret it as a black and smelly face.”

Actress Rui En received a lot of flack for sporting a black face throughout the entire Star Awards ceremony last weekend.
And personally, I’m not faulting her.
The basic truth is that she has a bitchy resting face, which is something you can’t help.
And that is much more preferable to faking smiles and hugs anyway.
So I wouldn’t give her too much flack for it.
And while Rui En may be the more popular personality who has been diagnosed with the syndrome, she certainly isn’t the only one.
She also has counterparts in Hollywood – and most of them are successful.
So to Rui En, I say: “You go girl. You do you.”
