Showtime & Lifestyle
After a two-year hiatus, Channel i is again offering local dramas, starting with Perceptions. JEANMARIE TAN talks to its stars, Eelyn Kok and Steph Song, about potentially career-changing roles.
Whatever the case, Steph is ‘curious’ to see how the second season of Achar will turn out, now that singer/actress Lu Rui En is rumoured to be taking over her role.
She said: ‘It should be an exciting opportunity for (Rui En). And frankly, Achar was a good show and deserves to keep going.’

ONE concert, so many famous faces: It looks irresistible.
Local stars Sheik Haikel, Tanya Chua, Rui En and Ben Yeung will team up with Hong Kong actor/singer Julian Cheung, Anita Mui protege Remus Choy, Taiwan’s B.A.D. and British newbie Derek McDonald, all at Youth Concert @ South East 2004, organised by the Southeast CDC.
But there’s a catch.
The singers have volunteered their services, the whole event has been arranged by volunteers – and the audience will be asked to step up and volunteer too.
The celebrities are more than happy to help, too.
Rui En, who sang the Community Chest theme song last year, said: ‘I’m quite pleased to play a part and get young people to do charity work.’
She will be performing three songs at the concert.
Tickets are $2 each and all proceeds will go to the Metta School, Goodlife Centre @ South East and The Salvation Army Bedok Multiservice for the Elderly.

JUST how bright are our Singaporean stars shining in Taiwan?
Here’s Mr Suen’s brutally-honest appraisal:
Rui En
‘She’s almost disappeared in Taiwan. Oh, she’s filming dramas in Singapore? Well she should just continue doing that! To be an artiste, you must have audience appeal. She lacks that.’

Youth Concert @ South East 2004 will have plenty of artists on hand to raise funds for local charities
FANS of late Hong Kong entertainer Anita Mui have a good reason to attend the Youth Concert @ South East 2004 this Saturday.
Ex-Grasshopper and Anita Mui protege Remus Choy will open the star-studded concert, to be held at the open field next to the Singapore Post Centre (near the Paya Lebar MRT station) at 6.30pm.
Taiwan’s R&B group B.A.D. and singer Joanna Feng Wei Jun, Singaporeans Rui En, Sheikh Haikel and Ben Yeung and Scottish newcomer Derek McDonald will also perform.
Proceeds from the sales of tickets, priced at $2 each, will be donated to three charities: the Goodlife Centre @ South East, the Salvation Army-Bedok Multiservice Centre for the Elderly and the Metta School.
