He was a nobody.

Before he formally entered showbiz in Star Search 10, and shot to fame after starring in hit shows like “Don’t Stop Believin’” as well as “Joys of Life”, Romeo Tan was a nobody.

He was what industry people call a ‘calefare’, an extra.

However, things gradually improved after he appeared in his first Mandarin drama “Portrait of Home II”, and started getting bigger roles.

In just a few short years, he has garnered legions of fans, and had managed to snag an endorsement deal.

He is also involved in a myriad of projects, from MediaCorp’s first-ever cross-media drama “96C Café” which airs on April 29, to the upcoming drama “Sudden” alongside top actress Rui En.

Unlike his character Liu Chuan Zhi, who always puts in a huge amount of effort to make himself look good by dressing nicely and styling his hair, Ian emphasised that he does not care about his appearance off-screen.

“If I bothered about looking good, I wouldn’t have gone all out for my role in Don’t Stop Believin’ without caring about my image at all,” he said.

The actor will be taking another big step in his acting career with a role in the upcoming Ch8 drama Sudden in which he plays a lawyer alongside co-actors Rebecca Lim, Rui En and Romeo Tan. Calling it his “breakthrough role”, Ian said that he is extremely excited and looks forward to the new challenge.

The story revolves around several lawyers, how they deal with their life and career with different values and take on morality. A horrific accident changed the lives of four lawyers. A paralysed Qi Liang suspects that the woman he loves, Chu Ning, was involved in the “accident”. Chu Ning tries to unravel the truth behind the accident but is suffering from a receding memory. The loss of Wei Qian’s father leads to the appearance of both Qi Liang and Da Lun. Da Lun’s plan to practice at a prestigious law firm was dashed when the accident caused him to miss his appointment.

郑慧玲报道

《红星大奖2013》（简称《红星》）”十大最受欢迎男女艺人”名单昨天揭晓，新生代艺人陈罗密欧和陈欣淇首度加入战局，让今年”十大”竞争愈加激烈紧张。

“十大”奖项，将于第2场《红星》典礼颁发。

《红星》之后，陈罗密欧将在新剧《骤变》中从观众较熟悉的邻家男孩形象转型成成熟的大律师。

黄俊雄是“十大”常客，今年无意外再度入围。另外，他也与瑞恩搭档入围“最喜爱荧幕情侣”网上投选奖项。

The competition for this year’s Star Awards 2013 Top 20 Most Popular Male and Female artistes heats up following the recent influx of new actors in the TV station.

Romeo Tan

After playing so many boy-next-door roles, Romeo’s star continues to rise in 2013 as he is set to play lead actor and romance Rui En in an upcoming drama centered on four lawyers (Rebecca Lim and Zhang Zhenhuan co-stars).

Elvin Ng

Despite being a regular name on the Top 10 Most Popular Male artiste list, Elvin said, ‘Life is full of surprises, it’s very difficult to say [if I’ll be going up to receive this award this year].’ The actor honestly told xinmsn that he hopes to win ‘both awards’ that he is currently nominated for i.e. Favourite Onscreen Couple with Rui En and the Most Popular Male Artiste award.

‘There’s no point beating around the bush. I’ll be honest, I want both! (laughs),’ he joked.

On his failure to make it to the final five Favourite Male Character nomination list, Elvin commented that the ‘rules of the game have changed’ and ‘we just have to adapt to it’. He also shared that he was really quite happy and proud of his role in Unriddle 2 as it allowed him to show a different side of himself.

去年本地电视带给观众多元化的剧种，从怀旧热闹的《花样人间》、黑暗曲折的《最火搭档2》、浪漫甜蜜的《再见单人床》，到青春励志的《我们等你！》、刺激紧凑的《千方百计》和贴近小市民的《对对碰》，满足不同消费群的口味。

黄俊雄与陈欣淇在《好运到》晒甜蜜，周崇庆配嫩草林赞银、《警徽天职2》男主角大换血，加入李南星和王沺裁、名模沈惠怡（Sheila Sim）首次跨足电视，《小子当家》演迷糊女、阿姐郑惠玉和陈莉萍于《志在四方》尬戏，瑞恩和欧萱首次对头……

去年的收视亚军《警徽天职》，打铁趁热再拍续集，希望能凭着严谨的剧情和精彩的动作场面，再创佳绩。

虽然少了郑斌辉和黄俊雄，但加入了瑞恩、李南星与王沺裁等，演员阵容依旧强大，观众将能欣赏到CID重案组和法证部如何斗智斗勇。我们也可看看瑞恩如何抛开经典的胡小曼一角，演绎更温暖的警官。

单是演员阵容，就足以让人万分期待。双后双旦外加视帝，演绎出电视台的五花八门、你争我斗。郑惠玉是综艺组掌舵人，陈莉萍掌管戏剧组，瑞恩是综艺主持人，欧萱是电视台阿姐。

作为庆祝电视50周年的重头剧，《志在四方》噱头足，但剧本究竟有多敢写，有待观察。故事人廖素馨曾坦言，不敢直接去写任何一个高层；监制王尤红则说，此剧主要还是描述4名职场女性的事业、爱情和家庭。

养眼的卡司和悬疑的剧请应能引起不少兴趣，但演员阵容和《微笑正义》类似，是否能擦出新的火花才是重点。

根据新传媒娱乐刊物的报道，8频道明年的9点档黄金档新剧，演员名单多数已经定下来。

新传媒目前的“花旦之战”已经从之前的“7公主”淘汰到之剩白薇秀、瑞恩、欧萱的“三甲之争”。

这当中，只有白薇秀是签约花旦。可是，今年在《红星大奖》上再封“视后”的白薇秀，明年一整年竟然只有《警徽天职2》一部剧。今年，白薇秀也只交出一部剧（《再见单人床》）的成绩单。连续2年都只有1部剧，就连7点档及U频道都不见她演的戏，看来，白薇秀的“阿姐”地位恐怕不保。

2位签约经纪公司的花旦瑞恩和欧萱，明年继续气势如虹。

瑞恩继续拔得头筹，将演出3部电视剧。

大斗戏《志在四方》

卖点：阿姐归位，与后辈花旦过招，绝对话题作。郑惠玉当电视台掌舵人与综艺组头头陈莉萍争锋相对；瑞恩和欧萱首度碰头，爱情事业均为竞争紧张关系。故事以本地电视圈为背景，玩戏中戏，但八卦电视友应该最好奇圈内黑玫瑰秘闻、派系斗争，辛辣桥段尺度有多宽？不过目前纵观剧情，穿插不少亲情爱情戏码，似以电视人身份包装成份居多。

律师也发狂《骤变》

卖点：一宗车祸意外，改变4个律师的命运。四角恋纠缠，加入悬疑元素、男主角受伤瘫痪、女主角逐渐失忆、车祸是意外还是阴谋，牵扯爱恨新仇难计算，相当重口味。卡士与《微笑正义》相似，戴阳天、瑞恩、林慧玲又搭在一起，缺少的是新鲜感。
