RBKD: Sharp-eyed sXs pointed out similarities between the red carpet outfits at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards and the ones local trendsetting celebs like Rui En etc. have worn to the Star Awards.
Judith Light vs. Rui En (Star Awards 2016)
RBKD: sXs thinks that “Transparent star Judith Light slayed the Emmys red carpet with her killer LBD and thigh-high slit” and reminded one of Rui En’s Thierry Mugler number from Star Awards 2016, “even their lit poses are similar!”
Sandra Lee vs. Rui En (Star Awards 2016)
RBKD: Oh yes, of course we remember Rui En’s bride-esque Romona Keveza gown. sXs mentioned that Sandra Lee’s version also boasts the same cinched waist, generous hemline and toga shoulder detail, wondering “#WhatSorceryIsThis” when even their hairstyles and poses match.

Fans as well as industry experts have cast their votes. Who will be crowned Best-Dressed this year?
BEST DRESSED FEMALE
Netizens’ Pick:
Rui En
sXs: Congratulations, Rui En! You have been crowned Best-Dressed Female Artiste yet again by netizens last night with 36069 votes. Styled by Li Rong, Rui En is seen here in a Paule Ka gown, Cartier jewellery and Guiseppe Zanotti shoes.
Industry’s Choice Panel:
Sharon Au (Head of styleXstyle and Elle Singapore), Sharon Tulasidas (Elle Singapore’s Fashion Director), Tan Chee Boon (STYLE:MEN Editor), Daniel Goh (Fashion Stylist), Marcus AC (Fashion Stylist), Fong Fan (Fashion Stylist) and Anthony Tan (Vice Dean, Fashion Studies Programme, NAFA) all weighed in on their top picks. (Disclaimer: These industry experts did not take part in styling the celebs)
In 4th place: Sora Ma and Rui En
Sharon Tulasidas: Rui En looks good too. I wished the dress had more structure and a sharper tailoring but otherwise her stylist and herself have chosen a dress that’s slimming and yet flaunts her new, womanly curves.

RBKD: This is a short article with a photo gallery (pic as above), and comments from Sharon Tulasidas, ELLE Singapore’s Fashion Director.
Quoting her, “Sheila Sim looks good in the suit but I would consider that as a day suit, not evening look. Carrie Wong looks the best so far, albeit looking too demure. I wonder what shoes she has on because so far everyone else has killed their outfit because of the shoes they are wearing. Rui En looks good too. I wished the dress had more structure and a sharper tailoring but otherwise her stylist and herself have chosen a dress that’s slimming and yet flaunts her new, womanly curves.”

RBKD: 8Days invited three anonymous industry insiders to predict the winners for this year’s Star Awards. While these opinions are not indicative of the results in any manner, it makes us proud as fans to hear such affirmation of Rui En’s acting from the insiders.
In their own words, the insiders are quoted as below:
Best Actress
Mediacorp Executive Producer: “Rui En. It’s refreshing to see her play a frumpy auntie. It’s a breakthrough for her ‘cos she usually plays a career woman or a cute bubbly girl in her dramas.”
Star Award-Winning Ch8 Actor: “Rui En. She put on so much weight for the role. She’s a born actress and she is able to show a different side of herself with every different character. But, as you know, the ones we predict to win usually won’t (laughs). That’s always the case!”
Industry Watcher: “We can’t deny how well Rui En played this role. Meanwhile, Jesseca’s role in Hero is quite blah. You can cast almost any actress in it and it wouldn’t differ much.”
8 Days’ Pick: Zoe Tay
RBKD: 8 Days said that their vote goes to Zoe for her touching role and also because it’s about time for Ah Jie to win an award again after she last won it 21 years ago.

RBKD: In line with styleXstyle’s 4th anniversary celebration, an online poll was conducted previously on who should front their campaign. While noting that the voting results may not be conclusive of the final selection, it will be taken into consideration with the final decision in the hands of the sXs team and fashion direction Jeremy Tan.
The results have revealed that Rui En emerged top with 146,553 votes in the female artiste catergory, with Carrie Wong & Jeanette Aw coming in second and third respectively with 78,549 votes & 48,850 votes.
