I used to think she would be the one but I’m not so certain now of Rui En winning this year’s Star Awards 2011 Best Actress. I tried digging around and asked some judges and some names came up just as equally strong as Rui En… Ok, judges did not tell me whom they picked as Best Actress but somehow I wanted just some names they were most impressed with in my first unofficial and totally irresponsible prediction…

Zhou Ying? Do not ever underestimate this newbie! Zhou Ying is fast gaining hype as the year’s most refreshing surprise. She may yet to enjoy huge following of fans (soon) like Jeanette Aw and Rui En but that might not be the case with the judges. Judges are not fans. Hearing her name being read out is a possibility now…

The Best Actress may just go to Jeanette this year. You either love or hate her performance in ‘Breakout’. It is not a bad thing actually. Rather than a safe ‘she is ok’, Jeanette actually left quite an impression with the judges – good or bad. Let’s see if this collective impression would amount to a positive or negative one with the majority on the award’s night…

I used to think Rui En was the one and only ’unbeatable’ nominee and so 100% sure about winning this year’s ‘Best Actress’ … I now have to add Jeanette and Zhou Ying. Not that she wasn’t good in ‘With You’ but if majority of the judges felt ’she was ok’ , her chances of winning simply…

My prediction (not in any order of priority) for ‘Hot Fav’ include Rui En (still), Jeanette Aw and Zhou Ying while Chen Li Ping and Joanne Peh stay as my ‘dark horses’.

黄俊雄与瑞恩大热胜出，分别获”最喜爱男女角色”，黄俊雄台上声援自闭儿，瑞恩则表示为粉丝的努力感到内疚！

《银光闪耀红星大奖 2011》颁奖礼昨晚（17日）举行，由xinmsn鼎力推动的4个网上投选奖项，成绩昨晚宣布。

自投票开始以来，瑞恩饰演的杨小冬（《过好年》）和黄俊雄的邹杰明《破天网》，凭着强大的粉丝力量，一路领先，果然不负众望，安稳打败其他对手。

瑞恩：粉丝是我的动力

去年《红星大奖》首次添加“最喜爱女角色”奖项，瑞恩有两个角色入围，最终却败给了同门姐妹欧萱。今年，她的粉丝积极投票，总算帮偶像扳回一城。

对于奖项，瑞恩不会去想太多，所以这次得奖，显得受宠若惊。

穿得一身帅气的她，在台上表示：”我不知道我做了什么能得到这些。”

瑞恩的粉丝，一向不遗余力，在任何场合都尽百分百支持，瑞恩也为此备受感动。她在台上感谢他们，表示会努力把戏演好，当作是对影迷的交待。

她后台接受xinmsn访问时坦言：”有时我累的时候，我都会想我的粉丝为我做了这么多，他们甚至可以为我熬夜，在外面排队，他们就是我的动力。”

她告诉记者，其实看到粉丝如此努力，感到蛮内疚的。

瑞恩感激粉丝的坚持，也希望他们不只是一个普通的后援会，盼引导他们做多点有意义的东西。

瑞恩与欧萱属于同个经纪公司，自相残杀，人气不分高下。瑞恩也觉得，欧萱有强大的粉丝阵容，是她最强的竞争对手。

至于无法蝉联的欧萱，她倒是很大方，笑容满面恭喜瑞恩。

她说：”其实不会（失望），我会为她开心，我觉得这个一个很大的鼓励，无论是哪个演员拿到这个奖，也一定很开心。”

当瑞恩被问到是否更有信心赢得”最佳女主角”时，摇了好几次头，表示：”我完全没有去想……那个……我应该是没有希望的。”

SINGAPORE: Singapore actress Jeanette Aw and “Breakout” co-star Christopher Lee took home the award for Favourite On-screen Couple (Drama) at the Star Awards 2011 Show 1 on Sunday.

Aw played Yang Nianqing, a mentally unstable woman who falls in love with Lee’s character Situ Dong Cheng, a disgraced lawyer in Mandarin drama “Breakout”, which had won awards for Best Director and Best Music and Sound Design earlier in the evening.

The couple beat out other popular couplings like Elvin Ng and Zhou Ying – also from “Breakout” – as well as Rui En and Chen Han Wei in “With You”.

Although Singapore actress Rui En missed out on the Favourite On-screen Couple (Drama) Award, she managed to snag the Favourite Female Character Award for her portrayal of Yang Xiao Dong, a happy-go-lucky girl in the drama “Happy Family”.

“I am very grateful to my fans. They are my motivation and I think of them when things get tough during shooting.

“They do a lot for me. Of course, as a result, I am under more and more pressure to do my work well,” said Rui En.

The winners of the Favourite Male Character, Favourite Female Character, Favourite On-screen Partners (Variety) and Favourite On-screen Couple (Drama) awards were determined solely through online voting.

Star Awards Show 1 was a clash of the titans, and in this case we’re referring to the titanic fan bases commanded by both Rui En and Jeanette Aw.

In a heated online voting race — powered by xinmsn — held over the past few weeks, both starlet’s have been running neck-to-neck with each other for the Most Favourite Female Character award with Rui En leading for three straight weeks.

Thanks to her fans’ relentless voting, Rui En walked home with the coveted trophy of Most Favourite Female Character last night for her role as the happy-go-lucky Yang Xiao Dong in Happy Family. In a backstage interview with xinmsn, Rui En appeared rather overwhelmed by her win.

“I totally didn’t expect this. I don’t know what I have done to deserve it,” said the actress who had zero expectations on the outcome of the award ceremony.

Heartened and touched by her fans’ support and voting efforts, Rui En shared that she feels “guilty” whenever she sees her fans putting in so much efforts for her and called them her “energy force”.

While she appreciates their hard work and dedication, the actress prefers her fans to invest their time and energy in more meaningful deeds such as charity work.

“I can only say that my hard work now is to repay them [for their support]. My stress level [to perform well] is increasing,” she said.

After breaking the perception that she can only tackle “cool roles”, Rui En’s star is well on the rise with a packed 2011 filled with back-to-back drama serials. Decked in Hermes from head-to-toe, she felt that Jeanette Aw was her closest rival in this category because of the latter’s “huge fan base”.

Commenting on her win over Jeanette who bagged last year’s Favourite Female Character award, Rui En honestly quipped, “No matter what award I win, I still have to work hard. I am getting even more and more stress now [with all these recognition]. I have bigger shoes to fill now.”

While Jeanette failed to clinch the Most Favourite Female Character award for her role as Yang Nianqing in Breakout, the actress did not walk home empty-handed last night. Her melodramatic onscreen pairing with Christopher Lee as the downtrodden lawyer, Situ Dongcheng, in Breakout touched many and bagged them a win for Favourite On-screen couple (drama).

The Breakout actress was all smiles as she magnanimously congratulated Rui En on her win.

I’m not [upset] over the loss. I actually feel very happy. This award is a big encouragement to whoever wins it. I would like to congratulate her here.”
