Emotions abound in talent contest while two dramas got tied up in romantic complications.
Somebody or something is seductive when the better part of you says no, and the baser part says: “But why not?”
One part of you knows you shouldn’t be watching Poetic Justice, an ill-conceived Channel 8 romance revolving around a tabloid television news programme, and another part of you keeps wanting to watch the next episode.
The drama is a flight of fancy in the direction of la-la Taiwanese and Korean romances, with Dai Yangtian as a self-absorbed playboy with a bayside property who decides on a whim to become a journalist and rise to the challenge of chasing an icy newscaster (Rebecca Lim).
He has a sensible lawyer friend (Desmond Tan) who somehow joins the news outlet too. Perhaps the lawyer has fallen for a sensitive reporter (Rui En), but is unaware that she has already had a cute romvom run-in with the playboy.
But for all the appeal of the actors and the breeziness of the banter, the drama doesn’t take off.
The part of the show that wants to be a newsroom procedural is pulled back to earth by flimsy writing, and the part that wants to be a love story is limited, ultimately by lack of romantic imagination.
Verdict: 2.5/5

The hit drama ended its run with a heartbreaking finale and makes way for Poetic Justice.
The finale of Channel 8’s 9pm drama Don’t Stop Believin’ made history by crossing the million-viewer mark with an average viewership of 1,047,800. This surpasses Joys of Life’s finale viewership of 993,000, showcasing the ever-increasing popularity of local TV.
Taking over the timeslot is modern day drama Poetic Justice, starring Rui En, Dai Yang Tian, Rebecca Lim and Desmond Tan. The four are involved in investigative journalism, which ends up putting them in the midst of dark truths and uncovered secrets.
The series debuted strongly last night with an average reach of 882,800 for its pilot episode. It surpassed the 852,000 viewership Don’t Stop Believin’ garnered for its first episode, narrowly losing out to the debuts of Joys of Life and Unriddle 2. With Don’t Stop Believin’ currently holding the crown for highest rated drama for the year, audiences are anticipating if Poetic Justice will be able to do as well as – or even better than – its predecessor.

Sugar, spice and all things smize
Story: Jasmine Teo
For the uninitiated: the term ‘smize’ – that’s “smiling with your eyes” – was coined by Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model. We get Daniel Boey, Asia’s Next Top Model judge and fashion guru, to play Tyra for a day and tell us which of these stars smize and which don’t.
RUI EN
Daniel says: “She shows how to smize fearlessly. She looks bold, sassy and full of attitude with her strong eyes and don’t-mess-with-me-but-hey-don’t-I-look-good pose.”

Imagine all that perspiration…
There is also a cue to their jumps. It goes: Bounce-Bounce-Bounce-UP!
Then, there is the smile and no smile version of the shots. But here’s an example of one of their MANY expressions when they jump!
As for Rui En…:)
The Four reviewing some of their jump shots for better improvements…
Cool eh? Make a guess of how many shots did each person take in order to get that ONE perfect shot…

It is definitely not easy to concentrate on jumping and giving the correct expression at the same time!
All their efforts paid off~ the end result… tada~!
