Cynthia Koh: I’m all grown up now

Text: Joanna Goh

Acting may still be her passion and one true love, but with a renewed purpose and mantra in life, Cynthia Koh prefers to take things easy – and in the slow lane – now. That might explain why the actress, who renewed her two-year contract with MediaCorp in October last year, only appeared in two projects in 2012 – ChU’s Show Hand and online mini-series, The Day It Rained On Our Parade, which is a stark contrast to her past years’ projects.

When we brought up her recent Best Actress loss to Rui En, she waved it off and gave a good-natured laugh at the mention of being the hot favourite in our mini predictions. “You all must be more disappointed than me,” she chuckled. “Oh dear, I’m sorry.”

Not taking her loss to heart, Cynthia conceded that Rui En was her strongest competitor that night and let on that she was prepared to walk home empty handed.

“I told myself I’d still continue working hard [even if I lost]. So thanks, Rui En for encouraging Mei Zhen jie (referring to herself). I know a lot of friends in showbiz, in the media and fans are very supportive towards me too,” she quipped. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m in showbiz, there’d always be a chance for me.”
