CNA: Rui En celebrates turning 39 with fan club by giving back to the elderly

Happy birthday, Rui En! The actress turns 39 today (Jan 29) and to mark the occasion, she and her loyal fans did something special a couple of weeks ago. On Jan 17, Rui En and 20 members of RBKD went around handing out S$9,000 worth of goodie bags to the elderly. It’s a tradition that started a decade ago, after she told her fans to avoid buying her presents and give back to the community instead. “Every year is special because it means so much more to me that my fans are willing to do charity work for my birthday rather than a normal celebration, which I have always felt is unnecessary and a waste of money,” said the actress. She added: “Charity work is never easy and this year was no exception.
