It’s her first time acting opposite Christopher Lee in her 12 years in showbiz. And home-grown actress Rui En has a “score” to settle with him.
At a press conference yesterday for Against The Tide, the 33-year-old star, who is known for being fiercely private, “complained” to local media about Lee’s acts of “sabotage”.
She laughed and said jokingly: “I wasn’t very happy filming with you, okay?
“Everytime I go to a hawker centre to buy food, Christopher would tell everyone where I was, shouting:’Rui En is over there! Go there if you want to take photos with her!’
“I am very low-profile and I don’t like it.”
In the new show, Rui plays a good psychiatrist who turns evil in the end, a role she has never attempted in the past.
On Lee’s teasing, Rui clarified that she would be fine if strangers approached her on their own to take photos with her, but she did not want to draw unnecessary attention in public.
Even though she had “complaints” against Lee, she said that Lee had never crossed the line on set.
“Christopher likes to fool around, but he wouldn’t dare to make me angry,” she said.
“Every time he informs everyone of where I am in public, I’d feel annoyed and keep hitting him.”
Unlike many young stars these days, Rui does not have an Instagram account and emphasises that she will not set up on soon.
She said: “I don’t like to take selfies or photos and I don’t see the need to post them online.”
“My life is very boring in the first place. If I had an Instagram account, I’d bore everyone to death with my mundane posts.”
