Straits Times: Celebrate the New Year in your neighbourhood

By Amelia Teng

Marina Bay will not be the only place in Singapore where the New Year will be ushered in with fireworks.

While many will make a beeline for the fireworks, organisers have also come up with novel ways to welcome the New Year, from pony rides and dinosaur displays to a mass Harlem Shake performance.

CHANCE TO INTERACT

It’s not just the event itself… but the run-up and the planning process is an opportunity for residents to get together and know their neighbours better.

Dinosaurs in Boon Lay

Children will get to meet six “dinosaurs”. Some are over 2m tall, and can move their heads and “roar”.

Local entertainers Taufik Batisah and Rui En are also set to perform.

Around 20,000 are expected to attend the event in Boon Lay Place.

TIME: 6.30pm to 12.30am
