“Joys of Life” is off to a joyous start, garnering 971,000 viewers with its debut episode on Tuesday.
A whopping 971,000 viewers tuned in on Tuesday to catch the debut of Channel 8’s latest Mandarin drama “Joys of Life”.
This puts the star-studded period piece ahead of even the massively popular police thriller “Unriddle 2”, which attracted 921,000 viewers with its first episode, as well as the family drama “Double Bonus” which drew 862,000 viewers on its first night, making “Joys of Life” the most-watched Singapore drama so far this year.
“I’m thankful to the audience for their support. ‘Joys of Life’ is the result of the hard work put in by every member of the cast and crew together as a team.
“I am very happy that everyone’s efforts have been recognised by the audience. I hope everyone can continue to support the show and keep watching it,” said Rui En, who plays the often-mistreated young woman Han Yong Yong in the show.
“Joys of Life” stars Rui En, Alien Huang, Andie Chen and Cynthia Wang, as well as a host of veteran stars like Chew Chor Meng, Chen Li Ping, Pan Ling Ling, and Yao Wen Long, along with newcomers like Adeline Lim and Romeo Tan.
The blockbuster drama traces the lives of four families who live in an old tenement house on the fictional Huaxiang Street.
“Joys of Life” also marks the 30th anniversary of local Mandarin drama, and features cameo appearances by a number of past stars like Florence Tan, Moses Lim as well as Tracer Wong.
Want to know what all the buzz is about? See for yourself. “Joys of Life” airs every weeknight, 9pm on Channel 8.
