…twenty live rounds in total at the Home Team Academy Shooting Range on 01 October 2012. MediaCorp artistes intently focused on correct weapon handling―the first part of the exclusive training programme conducted by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) at the Home Team Academy (HTA) as filming for C.L.I.F. 2 begins.

What do you do when you’re cast in a blockbuster Police drama about quick-footed, hard-nosed and intellectually acute real-life investigators?

Well, after a round of high fives with your pals, you assess the needful and it hits you that these guys are in outrageous shape. And since the fast-paced drama is about tracking and cracking tough cases and bringing vicious criminals down, you know you’ve got to get yourself in a strong mental and physical condition.

MediaCorp’s C.L.I.F. (警徽 天职), returning on 18 February 2013, promises more action and will deal with its own identity crises this season. A contemplative but vigorous police drama that explores technology, relationships, marriage, and the law, C.L.I.F. 2 tackles issues of self-identification with insight amidst the realism of intense crime investigative work in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), and Tanglin Police Division.

The 20-episode prime-time Channel 8 drama chronicles the day-to-day operations of Police officers while they go about their serious business of saving lives and solving complicated and gory cases based on true police files.

Audiences can expect to gain from the drama a better understanding of how the SPF works, in addition to crime prevention, detection and deterrence tips and advice.

A product of close collaborative efforts between SPF and MediaCorp, C.L.I.F. 2 has a star-studded cast consisting of both new and returning cast members from the previous season.

On 01 October 2012, right before filming for the sequel began, some key cast members such as Aileen Tan, Qi Yu Wu, Joanne Peh, Andie Chen Bang Jun, Rui En and Cavin Soh attended a special Police training programme held at the Home Team Academy (HTA) at Choa Chu Kang.

Once the briefing was done, artistes Rui En, Andie Chen and other cast members focused on practising decocking and loading pistols, while their colleagues Cavin Soh, Aileen Tan, Qi Yu Wu and Joanne Peh were ushered to a separate room where they were briefed by SI Muhd Ridzuan on how to safely handle the Taurus revolver.

Actress Rui En and actor Andie Chen Bang Jun (man in white in foreground) try to catch up with the precise sequence observed in loading and unloading the pistols.

SI Eric Lee instructs and demonstrates the right sequence of moves when drawing out the pistol.

At the end of the two-hour-long briefings and a series of motion practices with loading, unloading and holstering the guns, cast members Qi Yu Wu, Joanne Peh, Aileen Tan, Andie Chen Bang Jun, Rui En and Cavin Soh were given the much anticipated and exclusive chance at live firing. The silent atmosphere in the indoor range was palpitating.

With protective shooting glasses and ear muffs in place, the six attentive artistes, each guided by an astutely observant and helpful trainer, had their go at firing 20 live rounds each. At the end of the session, everyone was impressed by their rookie performance.

Six of C.L.I.F. 2’s key cast members present were given the rare opportunity to shoot live rounds. Qi Yu Wu (top right), Rui En (bottom left) and Joanne Peh (bottom centre) take aim. Qi gets to the heart of the training (bottom right).

Absolutely fascinated by the live firing exercise they had just completed, the artistes pose with the team of highly skilled and professional trainers at the HTA shooting range, as they prepare to make their way to the HTA gymnasium for the next part of their training programme―unarmed tactics.

C.L.I.F 2 警徽天职 2 debuts 18 February 2013 9pm on Channel 8.
