从来没有庆生习惯的瑞恩，今年首次提前在1月23日与粉丝们一起庆祝28岁的生日。生日会 的主题以瑞恩新专辑中的第三波主打歌“穿反”而设。配合主题，粉丝都故意将衣服穿反出席，还特地为偶像群体演唱歌曲。瑞恩也透露，妈妈有希望她能早日成家 的意思，但她却示意，或许永远都不会结婚！

《穿反》的歌词出自瑞恩手笔，提倡活出自我风格的生活态度：“越是想把自己伪装得像理想中的完美标准，越是把不自然及虚伪一一披露。其实只要舒服，即使衣服穿反了，也照样能走出时尚流行。”

为了响应瑞恩一贯的作风——自然、原始、诚实——歌迷们将衣服穿反，并选择未经排练就上场的方式，创意呈现了《穿反》这首歌曲。

瑞恩说，“对一些朋友来说可能上台唱歌没有什么大不了的，但是我的fans是属于比较害羞的，所以这个东西对他们来讲，我知道是比较困难。我没有想过一群朋友可以那么地支持我、那么爱我，其实我的付出就是给你们戏看，给你们歌听，没什么大不了的。所以在这里想说谢谢。”

生日和新年一样，瑞恩没有特别庆祝的方式，也未曾度过非常特别的生日。“平时就和家人吃饭。其实很闷，真的很闷。我的生活是很闷的，就没有什么特别的。我的生日都过得比较平淡，没有特别去庆祝。我就把它当成是一个平常的一天。”

今天（29日）正式过28岁生日的瑞恩坦诚妈妈在她的终身大事上，有点施加压力，但是她却不以为然。“其实觉得没有什么必要，为了做而做，就顺其自然。如果真的没有遇到一个适合我的对象，我觉得没有那个必要去结婚。”

瑞恩说，她一直非常想尝试内心戏较重、另类、深沉的角色，但是或许暂时机会还没到。二月复工后，瑞恩将全心投入新戏《书包太重》的拍摄，饰演一名华文老师，对她来说依然意义非凡。

她说，“大家都知道我之前有考过F9，就是在莱佛士初院时期。在RJ是没有F9的，所以这次觉得还蛮特别的。其实我觉得我还蛮喜欢当老师的；已经 拍了三天，就觉得还蛮舒服的。我有问导演是不是应该注重咬字，但是他都觉得OK。他说如果我特意去管这个东西，可能出来的东西会很假。”

1. Tracy And Hepburn by Garson Kanin

An EXTREMELY intimate look at the Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn relationship, but it wasn’t the relationship tidbits or juicy details of their romance that I was after, I was searching for anecdotes that could shed more light on the true Kate Hepburn, and I was right that Kanin would be able to provide some clues, given he was their close friend. Kanin himself writes very intelligently, with entertaining, witty ease. I couldn’t find this book to order online ANYWHERE, finally had to buy it off The Bay, it’s completely yellowed, dog-eared and ratty, but I love it.

2. A Million Little Pieces by James Frey

I actually bought it because of all the scandal and furore, so it was already classified as Fiction in my mind. However, his prose and style is pretty breathtaking. Have never read a author who was able to convey so much urgency and utter desperation as Frey. Very refreshing.

SHE scored an F9 in Chinese Language for her A levels.

And now she’s playing a Chinese language teacher in her next Channel 8 drama, My School Daze.

The New Paper’s Babe Of The Year, Rui En, seems to be doing the impossible these days.

She edged out Jeanette Aw, a hot favourite after the huge success of The Little Nyonya, to claim the coveted title.

The 28-year-old actress attributed her win to her ‘maturing’ fan base who ‘read The New Paper’.

She said: ‘The only other thing that I can come up with is that people appreciated my honesty when I gave that confessional interview.

‘And that maybe my story made an impact on them.’

She was referring to an interview that she did with The Straits Times last year in which she opened up about her parents’ divorce, her delinquent days and her dabbling with cigarettes and alcohol.

‘Tell all’

Rui En admitted that she made the decision to ‘tell all’ to make peace with herself.

‘I wanted a very public confessional because I wanted to prove to myself that I had moved on from all those bad experiences in my life.

‘I’m a lot at peace with myself right now. I never used to be able to feel happy with the small things in life but now I can.’

The pretty lass confessed that she hardly considers herself a babe.

She revealed that she’s actually a ‘kopitiam girl’ at heart.

‘Wait till you see me without this get-up (referring to her make-up and attire).

‘Basically I’m the shorts and T-shirt and slippers kind of girl. I’m the just-wash-my-hair and go to the kopitiam and buy kopi type,’ she said.

Most of the time, she said, she opts for the kopitiam instead of those ‘restaurants where they give you those small portions with a dribble of sauce’.

‘I’m the kind of girl that feels that non-hawker food is not real food.’

With My School Daze hitting TV screens in April, Rui En said she wondered if her junior college teachers would be shocked at her role as her grasp of the ‘Chinese language was very bad’.

As the interview drew to a close, the actress had just one question.

She asked with a laugh: ‘Are you sure you guys counted the votes correctly?’

新传媒在经济不景气的冲击下，决定节约成本，指定在初三至初五为集体放假日，戏剧组也将在初一到初七让演员们享受假日。今年特别忙碌的七公主之一瑞恩刚从日本结束《未来不是梦》的拍摄回国，集体放假日正好让她忙里偷闲，休息一下，2月份才正式开工，为新戏进行拍摄。

瑞恩也不需要参与跨年庆祝活动。“新年和生日对我来说是同样的东西，我不大会特别地去庆祝这些东西。因为我跟我婆婆住，所以他们都是来我们家拜年，所以比较方便。初二可能会去我阿姨家去捞鱼生，就这样。”
