This year, timed nicely for Valentine’s Day, it’s You’re The One, which is (of course) supported by Family Matters! Singapore.
Richard Low plays restaurant chef Hao Shunli, father of three daughters. Eldest daughter Meiman (Nnadia Chan) prefers working to dating, while second daughter Meili (Jacelyn Tay) has scared off 37-and-still-counting suitors with her boorish mannerisms.
Meanwhile, the youngest, Meide (Rui En), is a vamp who has boys for breakfast, men for lunch, and spits them out by dinner time.
The father has a big headache, but the scriptwriters probably had a bigger migraine trying to repackage and sell this story of I’ve-Heard-It-Before.
To their credit, I think they have done a pretty good job, as has the cast.
That is reason enough to sit through this pro-romance campaign.
So when your relatives nag, just reach for the remote control and switch to this programme.
You’re The One is showing over Channel 8 on weekdays at 9pm, starting tonight.
