RBKD: 《信约：我们的家园》前天举行记者会。瑞恩在剧中饰演的杨美雪，是新加入的人物。剧中有一幕戏是瑞恩有史以来拍过最困难的戏-杨美雪被推上舞台，在不得已的情况下唱戏。瑞恩将在戏中全程以自己真实的声音表演经典闽剧《薛刚》的片段。

剧中，瑞恩和陈泓宇饰演的张佳，以及张振寰饰演的严义生有个错综复杂的三角恋。瑞恩透露，虽然现实生活中没有亲身经历过这种感情纠葛，却很奇妙地能够产生共鸣。陈泓宇也告诉Toggle，瑞恩其实私下很爱玩，并没有想象中那么冷酷。而令他印象深刻的是有一次在外景拍戏空档，瑞恩竟然在大街上，不顾众人的眼光，跳起A-go-go舞来，让他吓了一跳。

RBKD: During the press conference for The Journey: Our Homeland, Shaun Chen revealed an incident during a filming break that left a deep impression on him. That day, some music started playing on set and Rui En unexpectedly broke into an À Go-go dance on the streets, without paying heed to her surroundings or image.

In Our Homeland, Rui En’s character Mei Xue picked up the tradition art of Hokkien opera while following her opera singer mother around, and was forced to perform on stage on one occasion. Rui En admitted that it was the toughest scene she has ever done, she will be performing an excerpt of the classic Hokkien opera Xue Gang for the show and her original voice will be used for broadcast.

本地剧《信约：我们的家园》演员昨天出席记者会。《我们的家园》是《信约》三部曲的终结篇，故事横跨20年，从1966年新加坡独立后演到80年代的欣欣向荣。

瑞恩在剧中得唱福建南音大戏，戏外有兴趣学唱大戏。上妆后，见到自己妆容有什么感觉？她笑说：“我觉得我的脸很恐怖。”

除此之外，穿了厚厚的四层戏服，戴着头套的她，汗流浃背。

她认为，演过的警察角色不比这次辛苦，她说：“之前的那些警察角色，都是很幸福的。”

在剧中，她演绎为责任放弃幸福的女子。为履行承诺，嫁给初恋男友张振寰，放弃真爱陈泓宇。但初恋男友的情绪不稳定，更向她施暴、掐她的脖子。

她笑说：“这和我平时演的角色不同，我很少会演这种躺在那边被掐脖子的，通常是我掐别人！”

瑞恩因《信约：我们的家园》“尝”到四个第一次。

她是此建国剧“最后一部曲”的“新面孔”，却也让她尝到四个第一次：酷热天穿四层衣服；戴头套；唱福建大戏、耍枪、摆功架；惨遭家暴

瑞恩在《我》中演“美雪”一角，原与张佳（陈泓宇演）有一段情，但，以为已亡的初恋情人义生（张振寰演）突然瘸一脚返新找她…不料，婚后却遭精神受创的老公家暴。

问及在床上险遭张振寰“掐死”的戏，她说：“第一次遭遇‘家暴’，我少有这类戏。导演和振寰都很照顾我。”并不担心对方会“错手”伤到她。

她也说，此剧最大的挑战是唱福建大戏。

“我从来没有接触过。大热天要穿四层衣服、戴头套上台，那场戏班的戏就拍了两天。”

她形容，每天除下戏服时，最里面的那层已湿透：“湿到很容易着凉的那种。”还笑说，现在觉得演女警很幸福。

她的籍贯是广东人，不过，要唱福建戏并不困难，因为她是歌手出身，对她而言，唱比讲“容易”。

“我要求自己唱（戏），特地进录音室录。”

当然，她也“唱”出兴趣，希望有时间去学唱福建戏：“戏曲是特别的文化，这是我小时候未接触过的。”

此剧在槟城和怡保取景，返新至今，她念念不忘的是当地粉丝的热情，还有怡保的鸡丝河粉，她说：“那是我吃过最好吃的。”

Local actress Rui En piled on thick make-up and donned four layers of clothing for a Chinese opera-singing scene for The Journey: Our Homeland.

The 34-year-old described her image overhaul as “scary”, adding that “it’s not something I would like to see again.”

In the drama, Rui En plays a junior nurse whose mother is an opera singer. In one scene, her mum cannot perform so she takes over for the day.

Rui En recalled: “We filmed for two days and by the time I took off the layers of clothes, the first layer was all drenched in sweat. It was as if I had just showered.”

She added: “It was a nightmare trying to remove the make-up – my skin felt so irritated.”

Ever the perfectionist, Rui En went even further.

“I took four singing lessons to learn how to sing opera songs and also requested to record the songs on my own,” said the actress, who is filming another Channel 8 blockbuster series, The Dream Makers 2.

But the dream role she would really want to snag is one in a superhero movie.

The self-confessed geek said: “I grew up reading and collecting comics and I am always excited whenever a new Marvel superhero is out.”

So what kind of superpower would she want to have?

“Invisibility. People can be very different when they are on their own and I want to see them in that state.”

RBKD: The Journey: Our Homeland, the third and last instalment of The Journey trilogy sees the addition of Rui En, who plays the love interest of Shaun Chen’s character, Zhang Jia. “Yang Meixue is a new character. She has no links to the characters of the previous season,” said Rui En. She adds that this role grew on her as filming progressed and she felt Meixue is a good representative of the women of that era by juggling the demands of her work as a nurse with her familial duties.
