This year, timed nicely for Valentine’s Day, it’s You’re The One, which is (of course) supported by Family Matters! Singapore.
Richard Low plays restaurant chef Hao Shunli, father of three daughters. Eldest daughter Meiman (Nnadia Chan) prefers working to dating, while second daughter Meili (Jacelyn Tay) has scared off 37-and-still-counting suitors with her boorish mannerisms.
Meanwhile, the youngest, Meide (Rui En), is a vamp who has boys for breakfast, men for lunch, and spits them out by dinner time.
The father has a big headache, but the scriptwriters probably had a bigger migraine trying to repackage and sell this story of I’ve-Heard-It-Before.
To their credit, I think they have done a pretty good job, as has the cast.
That is reason enough to sit through this pro-romance campaign.
So when your relatives nag, just reach for the remote control and switch to this programme.
You’re The One is showing over Channel 8 on weekdays at 9pm, starting tonight.

TERENCE CAO, 36, and Rui En, 24, who play a couple in You’re The One have definite plans about their respective weddings.
Rui-en, however, favours ‘a quiet personal wedding’, adding wistfully: ‘Sometimes, I think I’ll just elope with my husband to the Maldives.’
Asked whether she would later feel that she missed out on something special, she smiled wryly and noted: ‘Look at what I’m in (a wedding gown). This is the third time I’m getting married like this.’
You’re The One debuts on ch 8 on Feb 14 at 9pm.

NO, MEDIACORP was not holding a mass wedding for their artistes at Chijmes last Friday.
It was in fact a press conference to launch their new romantic drama serial, You Are The One, about a widower (Richard Low), his three daughters, and their exploits in love.
Chew Chor Meng walked down the aisle with Hong Kong actress Nnadia Chan; Christopher Lee with Jacelyn Tay; and Terence Cao with Rui En. The series debuts on Valentine’s Day at 9pm.

What it’s about: This romantic comedy is about three sisters and the men they fall for. Nnadia is the shrewd oldest sister, Jacelyn is the dowdy TV producer second sis, while Rui En plays the vampy babe of the family.
