今年的《红星大奖》将于4月22日和29日举行，各大奖项入围名单今早出炉！
“最佳女主角”奖项中，本地两大阿姐郑惠玉和范文芳去年各有代表作，也受到评审的亲睐，分别以《阿娣》和《边缘父子》双双入围。
白薇秀和瑞恩在《乐在双城》里是好友，戏外却是名副其实的竞争对手，与两阿姐争夺视后殊荣。瑞恩去年热门胜出，在《乐在双城》饰演娇娇女，再次突破框框，今年要蝉联并非不可能。

Caldecott Hill’s princesses Rui En and Joanne Peh go head-to-head in Best Actress nominations for their roles in Channel 8 drama ‘A Tale of 2 Cities’
This just in: Nominees of Star Awards 2012 unveiled.
Despite being touted as 2011′s year-end blockbuster, Ch8 drama A Song to Remember not only ended with dismal ratings, but also failed to bag any Best Actor or Best Actress nominations. On a brighter note, it garnered double nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category as well as one nomination each for Best Drama Serial and Best Theme Song categories.
Instead, the drama’s lead actress Joanne Peh got nominated for Best Actress for her role in A Tale of 2 Cities, going up against last year’s Best Actress winner Rui En, who also got nominated for her role in the same drama.
This year, the pair will have to vie for the award with Caldecott Hill’s Ah Jies Zoe Tay, Fann Wong and Ann Kok, who are nominated for their roles in Devotion, On the Fringe and Bountiful Blessings respectively.

To commemorate her 31st birthday, the starlet was gifted with a one-of-a-kind birthday present by her fanclub

To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year festivities and present Rui En with a one-of-a-kind birthday gift (she turns 31 on Jan 29) — that aligned with her volunteering efforts — members of RBKD (Rui En’s official fanclub) visited a group of 176 old folks living in Teck Ghee.
To spread the festive cheer, they also distributed home-baked cookies, pineapple tarts, festive goodies and other decorative murals.
In a short note to her fans on their online forum back in 2010, Rui En wrote: “BTW, for my birthday next year, I’m serious about not wanting a single gift or card. Instead, I would rather you make those things or put that effort into volunteering even if it’s for one day.”
Respecting their idol’s wishes, RBKD fanclub president Peh Xinyi shared with xinmsn in a phone interview that they the members “preferred to show their support” for her in such ways and started doing volunteer work last year.
“It’s more meaningful and a good way to make use of such times to contribute back to the community. It’s a positive influence on each other and a gift that she will like since she is very active in volunteering when she’s not filming,” Xinyi shared.
In order to roll out sufficient pineapple tarts and cookies for the 176 old folks, two groups of RBKD members spent three to four days tolling away in the kitchen.
They bought the pineapple paste and rolled the dough from scratch as Xinyi recalled, “Everyone was so sick and tired of pineapple tarts after spending two consecutive 12-hour days in the kitchen — we just wanted to buy the remaining bottles when we only managed to churn out 120 bottles of tarts.
“Eventually we persisted and finished off with 180 bottles because I told them if we were to buy the remaining bottles and opt for the leisurely route, sometime down the road we might regret not seeing through everything.”
After she learnt of their volunteer efforts, Rui En left an online message to members of RBKD on their forum: “Just back from another overnight with two more to go over the next 2 days. Am exhausted physically, emotionally and mentally. But you guys are just wonderful. Keep it up.”
In two small groups, RBKD members gathered in a member’s house to bake pineapple tarts and butter cookies for the old folks.
Unlike last year’s charity drive which saw them delivering rice and various dry goods to these old folks, RBKD wanted to tie-in their visit with food stuff related to Chinese New Year.
RBKD president Peh Xinyi shared, “I thought trying to bake it ourselves was more sincere than buying. It was most of the members’ first time baking pineapple tarts too; apart from the pineapple paste which we bought, we did everything else from scratch.”
Their efforts spanned over the course of three days paid off and the members managed to hit their target of making 180 bottles of tarts and cookies each.
The participants from RBKD consisted of schooling students, young adults and even mothers. On their volunteer efforts, Xinyi said, “When I organise this, I try to organise it in such a way that they will have a different volunteer experience. And hopefully next time when they are at school, they will also be more motivated to do community work. It’s a good way for us to grow personally as well.”
Apart from their homemade pineapple tarts and butter cookies, the fanclub also bought two bottles of Chinese New Year snacks, four cans of coke, two oranges and two small dragon decorations to spread the festive cheer amongst the old folks.

Unlike their visit last year which saw the members donning their fanclub’s official black t-shirt, they decided to wear brighter colours to appear less intimidating.
After a hard day’s work, the 30 odd volunteers gathered for a mini lou hei session to wrap up the day’s activities.

小兵立大功，《四个门牌一个梦》夺2011年电视剧 收视冠军！
2011年收视排行榜出炉，最获全城讨论的《四个门 牌一个梦》，毫无置疑地成为8频道9点档的收视冠 军，每集平均吸引超过94万人（4岁以上）追看。
这部探讨邻里之间关系，反映不少民生问题的作 品，以轻松节奏与观众产生共鸣，收视成绩让人眼 前一亮，确实为小兵立大功。
8频道去年推出了更多不同主题与类别的的戏剧， 突破90万观众大关的9点档戏剧比前年多出一倍。
与警方紧密合作，呈献多场精彩动作画面的《警徽天职》，也获得本地观众的青睐，以92万 4000的平均观众人数排第二。
拍摄手法具有韩剧色彩的《行医》，受到年轻族群的喜爱推崇，播出时即攻势强劲，击败较 早播出的其他剧集，最后凭91万5000的平均观众人数抢到季军宝座。
《边缘父子》网上轰动
《乐在双城》和《边缘父子》分别排第4和第5。值得一提的是，《边缘父子》造就了一群少 年演员的爆红，在网路上造成轰动，并在xinmsn的 Catch-Up TV上吸引超过100万的点播次 数。
贵为年度重头剧的《星洲之夜》，虽然费了不少心思打造怀旧场景，却在收视率上失利，仅 赢《生日快乐》。这不仅让人想起前年的《破天网》，似乎历史重演。

The drama series drew flak for emphasising conflict between Singaporeans and foreigners, yet garnered top spot in MediaCorp’s 2011 annual list of top dramas of the year.
Now, what’s a drama without the drama? Just ask Love Thy Neighbour. Amid the hullabaloo over its scripted dialogue and representation of locals and foreigners, Ch 8′s Love Thy Neighbour which starred Felicia Chin, Shaun Chen and Hong Kong veteran actor Ha Yu attracted a whopping average viewership of 941,000 making it the most-watched drama of 2011.
Second on the chart of 2011′s most watched Ch8 drama was police drama series C.L.I.F starring Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu, earning an average viewership of 924,000. Also joining the ranks of dramas that had successfully crossed the 900,000 viewership mark were: The Oath, starring Christopher Lee and Jesseca Liu, and A Tale of 2 Cities starring Rui En coming in at 3rd and 4th placing respectively. On the Fringe, a popular youth-oriented drama that dealt with delinquency issues and the rise of juvenile gangs, and starred budding young local stars Edwin Goh,Ian Fang, Kimberly Chia and Elizabeth Lee, took the 5th spot. The well-liked drama was also most-watched drama on xinmsn’s Catch-Up TV, receiving 1.3 million streams during its run.
Ch8′s blockbuster drama series, however failed to live up to their hype and expectations. Devotion, a mid-year blockbuster series that marked Ah Jie Zoe Tay’s return to the drama scene and headlined by a strong cast of veteran actors such as Chen Hanwei and Terence Cao only managed to achieve a 9th placing with 829,000 average views. The same fate goes to A Song To Remember, a cabaret-styled period drama touted as 2011′s year-end blockbuster series. Starring Joanne Peh, Eelyn Kok and Qi Yuwu, the drama narrowly squeezed through the Top 10 ranks and settled for 10th placing with an average of 827,000 views.
On the other hand, still riding the wave of cult popularity was Taiwanese long-running drama Love, which maintained its dominance on the 7pm primetime belt chart on Ch8. scoring top spot with an average of 831,000 views. Local nostalgic drama Kampong Ties set in the 60s and 70s as well as the recently concluded martial arts drama Code of Honour took the 3rd and 4th placing respectively.

Felicia Chin might be out of sight, but she is definitely not out of mind.
Well, at least amongst the youths.
The saccharine sweet former girl-next-door of MediaCorp might have left the glitzy world of showbiz to hit some books of late, but Felicia proved that she has still got the star appeal at the third m:idea Youth Choice Awards (MYCA) held on Jan 13 at Zouk.
Nominated in the “Hottest Celebrity I wanna Date” category of the awards, the former actress emerged top in the online polls – participated by over 91,000 youths in a month long voting period – to bag the award last week, after trailing behind in the popularity votes for the past three years in the same category.
Felicia was in the running for the same category as perennial favourites Joanne Peh and Rui En.

It’s time for modern-day series to take a back seat with the strong return of period dramas on the gogglebox
From the carefree and laidback village life in a kampong during the 40s to the grandeur palace dramas in a harem-setting from olden China, period drama series are no doubt the hottest drama theme to ride on this year.
The historical aspect of these stories or the transition into a whole new and different era — from the one we’re living in today — might be just one of the many reasons behind its strong appeal and demand amongst TV viewers. Throw in an elaborate setting, intricate costumes with an eye for historical details and you have yourself a winning formula.
Code of Honour
Taking on a different route from the usual melodramatic and sappy story themes, Code of Honour bears strong potential to be different from its predecessors with its heavy emphasis on kung fu. Family secrets, power-hunger fights in a martial arts school and the eventual showdown between good and evil makes up for the main underlying story premise of this show. Our only grimace so far: not enough action — it took a good 13 episodes before we finally saw the main female lead Ou Kelu (Rui En) get down to some fist-punching martial arts fun.
Joys of Life
Remember the 1999 Wok of Life starring Chew Chor Meng, Evelyn Tan, Ann Kok and Zheng Ge Ping? Joys of Life is set to be another nostalgic drama set in the 60s and 70s and will feature familiar faces such as Chew Chor Meng, Chen Li Ping, Rui En, Huang Wen Yong, Yvonne Lim, Zheng Ge Ping, Romeo Tan, Andie Chen and more. Set to commemorate 30 years of television in Singapore, the story will be based on the mobile getai and entertainment scene of our grandparents’ and parents’ generation and revisit the golden decade of music with old school performers such as Wang Sha and Ye Feng, Sakura, and Ling Yun.

2011年倒数开始，2012年就在眼前，多部新剧如火如荼拍摄中，有复古、有新潮，究竟哪部最有看头？
今年的8频道电视剧，题材多样化，9点档谈警察、黑帮、医生、厨师、摩登男女、30年代歌女，还有本地观众一向喜爱的小市民故事。
其中，探讨邻居关系的《四个门牌一个梦》引得全城讨论闹哄哄，平均收视直飙第一名。《警徽天职》拍摄严谨，顺利当上亚军，而拍得宛如偶像剧的《行医》，深得观众欢心，挤进前3名。
由此可见，观众接受度颇高，2012上半年，也将迎来各类剧种争宠。例如，有备受瞩目的《最火搭档》续集、热闹怀旧的《戏剧情牵30周年》重头剧《花样人间》和狐狸精变丑女的《我爱狐狸精》。
此外，随着台湾长寿剧《爱》在几个月前下档，本地作品收复7点档失地，大多古早味浓厚，《甘榜情》和《正义武馆》陆续播出，明年则有《渔米人家》和《猪仔馆人家》。

《最火搭档2》（播出日期：3月6日）
应该是观众上半年最期盼的作品。第一季赢得好口碑，收视也可圈可点，在xinmsn Catch-up TV上更是前年电视剧点击率冠军（以每集的平均点击率计算），播出大结局后，不少网民纷纷要求续集。
《最火搭档2》延续杀人犯”阿休罗”潜逃在外的情节，故事更曲折离奇，编剧也更敢写，看来能吊足观众胃口。上届视后瑞恩，之前也告诉我们，本季除了增加动作场面，有很多激动内心戏，看了剧本都让她担心，如果戏外跳不出角色会崩溃。
陈莉萍、郑斌辉、向云、周颖和洪赐健等上季角色都会回来，这次还加入了黄俊雄，饰演胡小曼的”命中宿敌”。喜爱两人搭配的粉丝，可有好戏看了。

《花样人间》（播出日期：6月26日）
8频道《戏剧情牵30周年》，强打怀旧。继《福满人间》与《春到人间》后，《花样人间》反映6、70年代的娱乐大环境，看看当代歌星的成名路，轻轻松松，热热闹闹，阖家欢乐。本地观众熟悉的人物王沙和野峰、樱花和凌云、厦语片皇后庄雪芳和歌迷王子黄清元等都会出现。
前两个”人间”系列的演员，将在剧中担任要角，周初明重出江湖，饰演电影海报画家，角色为他量身定做。瑞恩产量高，这次饰演楚楚可怜的孝顺女，又是另一种新形象。
厉害的是，《花样人间》还请来本地人气极旺的黄鸿升（小鬼）和王心如助阵，前者饰演爱发明星梦的小伙子，是周初名的儿子；后者则是迷倒众人的”街花”。
左邻右舍小人物的故事，本地观众最喜欢，外加坚强演员阵容，相信此剧会开出佳绩。
